They just couldn't give better information could they? While this update is interesting and all, couldn't they tell us something other than a detail about gameplay mechanics?

Patience Servbot. I like the slow trickle. Makes me even more psyched about the game. Have any other games used this format? Blog about releasing details?

They could just tell us nothing at all. It's their decision. Be happy that we're at least getting a little info on the game before-hand. (I can understand your frustration, however.) You could also just stop looking at the website for a week or two, occupy yourself with something else, and check again. There should at least be some good info after 1-2 weeks. (That's what I'm doing, and hoping for, anyway.)

Using the Final Smash will be awesome.

Awesome and possibly cheap, depending on who you are. :D

(Still wants another EarthBound character.)

Agreed.

Another update and this one looks like it's linked with the one from yesterday (movement while using projectile weapons). The name? Cracker Launcher

Also, looks like this weapon's angle is controlled by the c-stick. Wouldn't be surprised if adjustment are really slow and this thing is heavy or something (which is my impression while looking at these).

You can walk around and jump while holding the launcher.

You can also aim the launcher at different angles by tilting the Control Stick up or down.

Servbot#42 May 31, 2007 07:04 AM

OK, sorry I was complaining. I guess I am a little hyped too.

That launcher is awesome! I will probably be using that one a lot.

28Link May 31, 2007 07:40 AM

Metal Sphere, just so you know, Control Stick means the left analogue stick. I'm guessing that means you can't use most A attacks while holding this weapon.

I thought that was a given from the description alone, though this thing must be pretty slow/powerful in that case. I just want to know if weight comes into play here, and if it's a nice item to chuck.

shadowlink56 May 31, 2007 10:49 AM

Cracker launcher?

Huh? Launches firecrackers, but what game is it from (or is it just for fun?)?

This actually scares me a little. Previously the only item that wasn't related to a nintendo game was the motion sensor bomb (but it was close enough!). Are they adding items just to beautify the game now?

immp May 31, 2007 11:07 AM

Launch whitey! Looks like its an original. I'm guessing its like the hammer, you pick it up it starts firing but you can jump/run around/change angle.

Black Mage May 31, 2007 12:07 PM

Hard to say. It could be from some obscure Japanese-only release. Either way, as long as it's fun, I don't think it really matters what the items are from.

And this one certainly looks fun.

I guess Mario is turning into a pyromaniac. :)

The firecrackers may be from Super Mario RPG or something. (Can't you get firecrackers in Mole Town on SMRPG? I can't remember...)

This is true if you disregard the party ball, the bumper, the cloaking device, the ray gun, the capsule, the paper fan and the beam sword.

Party Ball - Like SSB crate - just generic opener to get items.
Bumper - Could be Pinball
Cloak - Got me
Ray Gun - Starfox
Capsule - Like SSB crate
Paper Fan - I KNEW this was from something . . .
Beam Sword - Bleh?

Okay, so maybe not EVERY item, but darn close!

Krelian May 31, 2007 10:10 PM

In which Starfox game does the ray gun appear...? Seriously, not trying to catch you out on anything; I'm wondering if I'm wrong.

FatsDomino May 31, 2007 10:24 PM

It's probably on his character art or something.

shadowlink56 Jun 1, 2007 12:34 AM

Yup. Several shots have blasters, even if you never hold one in a game. Yeah, I know it's a longshot.

Delfino Plaza looks like a nice open place for far attacks.

And isn't the Cloaking Device from Perfect Dark on the N64?

FatsDomino Jun 1, 2007 09:38 AM

Holy shit Falcon punched!!!! =O

Infernal Monkey Jun 1, 2007 09:51 AM

For one brief moment, Black Shadow looks happy that he had the honour of being Falcon Punched right in the gob. =)

Krelian Jun 1, 2007 11:31 AM

So Delfino Plaza is basically Mute City for Brawl. I like.

No more updates until Monday. :( MY LIFE IS BROKEN.

shadowlink56 Jun 1, 2007 01:22 PM

Ack! Weekend dropoff! Heh.

It seems like a lot of the levels are going to go with the "flying platform against pretty background" method. From what I've seen of that Meta-Knight level it's the same thing. Not that I'm opposed to it. I always wanted a toggle to turn environmental deaths off to ensure that skill killed you and not chance. That's why Final Destination was the most popular arena for fighting. Obviously they relaized that for Brawl. I just hope it doesn't lead to boring levels. I'm not really worried though . . . heh.

Also, the "cloaking device" is the Blue Hat from Mario 64, isn't it? The one that turned you invisible so you could walk through certain mesh walls.

Er... No. It was a nondescript metal plate with a black glass bubble in it, and the trophy listed its origin game as "TOP SECRET".

Apparently, someone said the references to Perfect Dark were removed in the American version of SSBM. Even the Motion Sensor Bomb in the Japanese version looked like the mine from Perfect Dark.

Edit: Picture here, apparently.
