Yeah. I don't see why she's playable here since she wasn't for SO1- SO3 . All she did was talk about inventors and shit. So my guess is she might have something to do with Precis?

(Star Ocean 4)

Thanks for the extra info, Hind. Shiiit I'm liking this new feel to SO4 already. I just hope it isn't too futuristic..

Any idea who the character designer is ?

Star Ocean 4 to be multiplatform. In before complaining.

Supposed to be actually SCI FI now, we'll see if that pans out.

FOUR DIMENSIONAL SPACE, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN.

We will see. Hopefully their story scenario writer isn't a complete retard this time around.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 10, 2008 03:31 AM

I meant more in the way that you're not stuck on some backwater, underdeveloped planet for at least three quarters of the damn thing this time. At least, that's the impression our blogger from the link gave.

Rotorblade Jun 10, 2008 03:32 AM

Emphasis on "scenario" writer. They usually determine setting if I'm not mistaken.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 10, 2008 03:47 AM

Uhhh, yeah...I know.

What are you trying to say?

Anyway, glad to hear it's supposed to not do the whole undeveloped planet thing. It drove me insane. It's fantasy, except you know the cast is from outer fucking space. Beyond lame.

In space, nobody can hear you clearly explain what your gender is.

Hindman Jun 10, 2008 08:00 AM

It doesn't really explicitly say "multiplatform" there though...
It just says 360 confirmed, but they didn't say it was exclusive to 360.
I mean, I realize that this can easily (and probably DOES) mean it's going multplatform, but we're not sure of that yet.

ZiggyGo Jun 10, 2008 10:21 AM

According to a small interview on IGN, a PS3 release is still in the air. They may or may not release it for the PS3.

chato Jun 10, 2008 12:18 PM

Thank god I have a 360 as well. Besides, it looks like it would be on a 360 anyway ;).

I'm pretty sure that if it was gonna be exclusive, they'd beat the ever loving snot out of the fact and not leave it as ambigious as they did. I'd say it's a better chance of multiplatform than exclusive for the moment. But I'll edit the title anyway. Good point.

Cetra Jun 10, 2008 01:49 PM

What a wasted effort on Microsoft's part. Why don't they make steps to acquire Final Fantasy if they are truly serious about the Japanese market.

A Microsoft exclusive of SO4 is just going to hurt the future of the series due to bad sales and a multiplatform release is going to accomplish nothing as the Japanese just wait out for the PS3 release.

I wouldn't be so bitter if it wasn't so obvious that this is nothing but the result of a money exchange rather than a decision based on the merits of the system.

I'm really hoping that the other platform it is released on is the Wii.

Single Elbow Jun 10, 2008 04:12 PM

Why argue about SO4 going multiplatform when we all know the story is going to be utterly ridiculous again. And the characters just drip of fanservice.

I say let the game go on multiple consoles. Better market coverage that way (and hilarity spreading).

Yes, a multiplatform {PS3 and 360} release would accomplish nothing since it would only significantly increase the number of people who could buy and play it. If it does as well on the 360 as Lost Odyssey and then does well in Japan, primarily on the PS3, how would that be anything less than a win?

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jun 10, 2008 07:32 PM

Because it won't live up to it's potential, russ, see. Only exclusive games are the best they can possibly be. Only exclusives take advantage of the hardware upon which they're running.

Or something. I don't know. I don't speak crazy batshit.

Infernal Monkey Jun 10, 2008 10:18 PM

I hope FFXIII is announced for 360 eventually, just for the Cetra meltdown.

SouthJag Jun 10, 2008 10:37 PM

And speaking of which, after Microsoft's JRPG event, Square-Enix's come out and said "360 only" for the time being, not ruling out a PS3 release but it's definitely not multiplatform from the start.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jun 10, 2008 11:07 PM

Oh, the denial and frustration you two are feeling from this turn of events. It is... so delicious.

But seriously, you guys don't need to be so hawkish; if it goes multiplatform, it won't fly under the radar and then you guys can be happy. And if it doesn't, oh well, time to buy a 360 if it's something you really want to play.

SouthJag Jun 10, 2008 11:35 PM

I hope you're not including me in that "frustration you two are feeling..." declaration. Really, at this point I don't even give a shit about exclusives, save for a few titles, but the ones I'd be concerned about are first-party, so...

As long as it makes it over here, I'm good. If I had to choose a platform I'd rather see it on, well yeah I'd probably say the PS3, but I don't mind a 360 launch. I'd be a little perturbed if it came out exclusively on the Wii though; I really, really don't like waggle controls. :/

Ramenbetsu Jun 11, 2008 12:30 PM

Man, I will say, what screenshots have been released of actual gameplay is beautiful and impressive as fuck:

If they can get this a smooth 30+ frames, I'm sold. Hopefully there won't be a shit plot twist time. It just might be the first great JRPG this gen.
