Delayed one week because of two songs containing words that are in the Qur'an.

I'd be angry, but I guess Sony is doing the right thing here (although couldn't they just have a mandatory patch when you start up the game?). Also, with the amount of time we've waited for this game, what's another week?

K_ Takahashi Oct 17, 2008 03:31 PM

When will developers learn not to put shit from the Qur'an in video games (ie. OoT Fire Temple), though transcripts I've read in the case of LBP make it somewhat displeasing of the lyrics actually being said.

lol, why do people (presumably white) think throwing in Qur'an quotes in music is cool (I'm looking at you too Kakuto Chojin)? Yes, we all know it sounds all mystical and mysterious, but in actuality it's about as interesting as throwing in the Prodigal Son parable into a song.

"But the father said to his servants, `Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet"

"FUCK YEAH, this shit is tight"
I wish I said this first.

This is hilarious. People who got ahold of the game before it was recalled are trying their hardest to make a quick profit. :tpg:

For that much? I really doubt people will bite. Zack and Wiki had some offensive background sounds as well, but people still bought the game regardless.

Cetra Oct 20, 2008 01:07 AM

Anyone who would be offended by the Qur'an references aren't allowed to play video games anyway. But I understand where they are coming from. In this fucked up day and age its a far better decision for them to just deal with this now on their own rather than waiting for someone to make a big fucking deal about it because they see an easy 5 million out of it.

dagget Oct 20, 2008 03:58 AM

What I don't get is the damn game was in beta for a decent amount of time and now they decide to recall for an edit and reprint days before release. You'd think that they would have taken care of that before-hand if they thought it was going to be a big deal, instead of waiting to just about literally the last minute to do so.

Sources please. Where exactly are you deriving this information from, because last I knew it was possible to be Muslim and play video games.

Oh and qualified, legitimate sources please, not some moron posting shit on a forum somewhere.

A guy I know who owns a video store has a copy of Mario Party on the Wii from before the recall where Mario shouts "Let's get spastic" or something before some of the mini-games. He reckons that might fetch a couple of quid one day.

I think by "aren't allowed to" he means "shouldn't be able to" and by that, it is not a serious statement. Chill.

I must say, I want the burlap sack preorder item, and will likely never have it because GameCrazy doesn't exist anywhere. I didn't get any sort of preorder code from Gamestop either, but I suppose I'll bitch about that when I go to pick up the game.

Miles Oct 21, 2008 03:14 AM

Haha! One of the walmarts here in Sacramento did a midnight release of the game. I managed to snag a copy even though the employee couldn't pull the game up on the computer as it kept denying the sell. The manager came over and did an override and sold me the game anyway. What's funny was the line behind me was full of people wanting to pick up Fable 2 and yet none of them opened their big mouths to stop them from selling the game to me. Anyways, I'm happy~

If anyone wants the game early I guess you can try walmart. Time to get my money back on my gamestop reservation.

Buizel Oct 21, 2008 04:38 AM

Well lucky you! Hope you rot in hell enjoy playing it early. XP

I'm getting mine from amazon.com because I got a $60 gift card. But the thing is it looks like amazon won't ship it out until November 4th. @_@

Shenlon Oct 21, 2008 12:40 PM

WOOTLY WOO!
Just got mine cause best buy was eager to send it too me ^_^
But my nariko girl bonus was lost in the mail....TWO TIMES. So I missed out on her ;_;
I'm ganna play through story to get pieces for creating levels later. If i see some of you online we better play through a few levels. Was fun with rockgamer and cobalt =p

dagget Oct 21, 2008 02:49 PM

Good to know it seems that EB/Gamestop is the only place actually waiting the extra week to send thiers out.

Shenlon Oct 24, 2008 11:09 PM

Well I just beat the story mode stages and they do get harder. It's especially harder trying to get through some of the final ones without dying. I'm just doing that to get the extra items since the servers aren't online it seems, or maybe its just me.
My favorite song has to be from the first stage of the wedding.

Here are some skins you get for progressing through the story.

Spoiler:

These are screen shots, not actual photos from in the game

also have a dino tail in the back

SouthJag Oct 25, 2008 12:02 AM

GameStop customers should be able to pick up their reservations tomorrow. Might call your stores and find out if they got it.

Hantei Oct 25, 2008 03:42 PM

Looks like EB Games Canada got them in too, just got back from picking up my pre-order. Unfortunately I gotta go back on Mon or Tues to pick up my Kratos code. BTW is anyone else getting more than just the code for their pre-order? The clerk said that apparently we're also getting a t-shirt, poster, and some other thing, forgot what it was.

Spoiler:
(Lousy Canadian english/french packaging, the interior boxart is blank)

Shenlon Oct 25, 2008 04:13 PM

well I just went through all the main levels without dying. The last costume is pretty funny and the last boss was easy compared to the previous levels.
Hopefully when the servers come online we can form a party for get some of the team prizes and trophies.

Miles Oct 26, 2008 04:03 PM

Nooo! The game made me download a patch that took out the lyrics to that offensive song. ;_; I like the version with the lyrics better but oh well. At least it's still on my blu-ray disc. I guess this means we're getting close to the servers going live then.

Shenlon Oct 26, 2008 04:10 PM

wait what? Thats what the patch was about? Thats bull, I enjoyed the song the way it was. I didn't even know they could do something like that with the music already in the game

Cetra Oct 26, 2008 04:37 PM

Nice. Hopefully the people who bought the recalled copies on Ebay are feeling like shit now.

WolfDemon Oct 26, 2008 07:24 PM

Wait, they just put out a patch that removes the offensive lyrics? Then what in the hell was the point of recalling the game?

SouthJag Oct 26, 2008 08:20 PM

For the folks who don't have an internet connection.

Miles Oct 26, 2008 08:26 PM

Exactly. Even though it's patched on my PS3 it's not like I can't get around it. The patch doesn't overwrite what is burned onto the blu-ray disc. If I really cared that much I could just ignore the patch and play offline. It's still smarter to do a recall and replace it since people with the final versions of the game have no way of hearing that track (and less Muslims will be offended)

I shall cherish my uncut copy of the game for eternity!
