Unrelated, but, I love that sig/av set Darkcomet. =D

This game looks cool (but yeah, it would be...), and I really am digging that overworld tune! Hope the rest is also original music, cause Mario music is usually pretty sweet. Does anyone know if Koji Kondo is doing the music?

The point is the strategy guide. Look at the date on it (which they have now changed to Wednesay), it comes out before the game does, which wouldn't make since considering how secretive Nintendo has been about the game.

Holy crap that video is fun. Freaking marketing scam to build massive hype... what's this video per Monday shit. It's not 24. :p Kidding though.

I can't wait for this game.

HUEG MARIO~!!

So, did anybody else get the ultra-hilarious e-mail from Nintendo with the subject "New Super Mario Bros. Movie Revealed"?

I thought Nintendo was a month behind for April Fool's day until I looked at the actual e-mail. Now I must really wonder if it was intentional or not.

The world may never know.

Infernal Monkey Apr 25, 2006 05:49 AM

Some new JPEG's on this here internet. Mario using the new blue shell power-up and Super Mario 64 DS mini-games ahoy.

Yes! Hilarious!
I doubt it was intentional, or there would have been a line about saying, "no, not THAT kind of movie"
I was very scared for a moment.

I got really excited when I saw this, but DS only? That's crap. :p

What else do you want it to be on? No other system would really support the dual screen style.

Monkey King Apr 27, 2006 08:34 AM

It's easy to argue that the game really doesn't need two screens, but honestly, what else would they put the game on? Gameboy Advance?

NovaX Apr 27, 2006 08:59 AM

I would prefer a sprite based Mario, though.

Haha, thanks. Yours is pretty sweet as well, nothing like a gameplay nuance to brighten ones day :tpg:

I heard multiple rumors that the music is being done by the guy who did the music for Yoshi's Touch & Go. Having never played the game before, I have no idea what to make of it.

Well, Yoshi's Touch & Go had great music in my opinion, so that's good news to me. I hope they use that subtle interactive music thingy from YT&G, too, that was neat!

Uhm yes! After Nintendo game out with the stupid original GBA, I ended up buying the GBA SP because of the whole backlight issue (after getting a backlight installed on the first one). After buying 2 I was really not in the mood to buy the DS :p The 2 screen thing is neat, I'll probably wait until the price goes down to buy it (maybe, I own every console that exists at the moment)... but I even have a GBA player for the GC so I can play all my GBA games on the tv.

I guess I'm just not in the mood to spend $100+ to play one or two games. Although, I have all these games on the GBA I haven't touched like Yoshi's island....

eks Apr 27, 2006 11:34 AM

That looks fucking fantastic. The animation is badass.

Even tho the GC is over-powered (and sort of on the way out), I'd prefer to play it on that. I don't care for hand-helds.

It looks very dynamic and uplifting, to say the least.
I only hope that, after so many years of 3D installments, they can still fork out a quality-designed traditional scroller. Judging upon the demonstrative videos, it certainly seems so.

Rockgamer Apr 28, 2006 03:12 PM

I don't think Nintendo will ever really mess up in the 2D department, no matter how many 3D platformers they make. I mean, most people said that Super Princess Peach was a good 2D game that was similar to the Mario games, so I have no reason to believe that an actual Mario game would be bad.

Darkcomet72 Apr 28, 2006 09:48 PM

Nintendo has finally updated their page (not the Mario one, the Nintendo on on NSMB). Mostly info we already know, however.

It does mention the Triple jump, which quite a few of us though was taken out. Perhaps it will be shown in a later video?

T1249NTSCJ Apr 28, 2006 11:52 PM

The game looks great, this game definitely warrants a purchase for the DS. Speaking of purchasing the DS, is there any news as to when the DS Lite will be released, I've been holding back until it was released here in the States. But with the game not far behind, looks like I'll be purchasing one on the SMB release date. :p

Rockgamer Apr 29, 2006 12:30 AM

There is no official news on the DS Lite's release date in America, though most people are speculating it will be around the same time New Super Mario Bros. comes out here. Nintendo will most likely make it official at E3.

Like Rockgamer said, there really isn't an offical date, but my Gamestop said it'll be shipped to the states on June 1st. Anyway, just take it with a grain of salt.

shadowlink56 Apr 29, 2006 04:42 PM

Gamestop likes to think they're in the loop, but more often than not they couldn't be farther from it.

Double Post:
The second video has been posted

So... they DID keep the triple jump. It's the very first part of the video.

Level design looks fantastic.

Infernal Monkey May 4, 2006 08:22 PM

Bob's House of Hardware has just updated with four new .. New Super Mario Bros. videos. The castle looks amazing! =o But the third video spoils the deep, emotional introduction sequence, watch out.

Darkcomet72 May 4, 2006 08:27 PM

Shoot. Five minutes too late.

Anyway, the players in the vid suck, but I've come to accept that from IGN. The Athletic theme is wacky to the point of concussive depression. I love it. Also, you get to see the Koopa shell in action! I like how it doesn't move too fast, so it's not too hard to control.

EDIT: Holy coughdrop I thought there were only 5 vids. They just added 4 now, for a total of 9 new vids :)
