That was wrong. :\

More cancelled games for the Cards means more rest for Carpenter. :D More rest means a better chance to see him twice!

TheKnightOfNee Oct 12, 2006 12:03 AM

Tigers are now up 2-0. Their chances of making the World Series are growing increasingly stronger!

Diversion Oct 14, 2006 07:04 PM

What an ending to the game!

Golfdish from Hell Oct 14, 2006 11:00 PM

Alright, my predictions are now shot to hell, but...

Good shit, Detroit!

TheKnightOfNee Oct 14, 2006 11:48 PM

Oh man, this is so great. What a way to win the series. I am really looking forward to the World Series now.

And looking at the World Series schedule, thank god no games are being played on Fridays. I work every Friday, and have missed a handful of playoff games because of being at work.

And look at that, Cardinals won again tonight in a convincing victory. What happened to the team that barely finished above .500?

We're still gonna be the underdogs in the World Series. :\

That was a wild game between the Cardinals and the Mets last night. It all came down to the final inning. I don't follow baseball all that much. But I have to admit, the playoffs are quite enjoyable to view.

I hope to watch more in the coming days.

Cardinals NL Champs, why lie? :D

(I forsee a very very very very early morning coming up for me to wait downtown)

There's still at least one game left, so you never know - but I'm seeing the same thing.

Lukage Oct 17, 2006 10:59 PM

A second consecutive uncharacteristic performance by Carpenter is extremely unlikely.

Maine is going to have his....maine maimed.

(I C WUT U DID THAR!)

Golfdish from Hell Oct 19, 2006 08:49 PM

Nail-biter here...Pujols pops up with 2 on against a lefty.

I'm feeling the Mets score in this next inning...They definitely have the momentum.

And Valentin taking the shot to the face was cool...He didn't know what zip code first base was in.

Edit: Shit, Perez is staying!? Damn...Ballsy move.

No. Hard Pass. Oct 19, 2006 09:08 PM

Jesus Christ... that was the single most amazing catch I think I've ever seen. Man, think of how that scenario would have been different if that ball went two inches farther. O.o

CARDINALS WIN

DragoonKain Oct 20, 2006 03:36 AM

Have fun golfing Mets.

Losers

Lukage Oct 22, 2006 05:26 PM

Weaver taking the mound tonight. All I gotta say is...if we beat Rogers tonight, this is as good as done. Go Cardinals!

TheKnightOfNee Oct 23, 2006 12:20 AM

Well, Rogers threw 8 more innings of shutout baseball. And now we've got a series!

Golfdish from Hell Oct 23, 2006 12:57 AM

Kenny Rogers is downright EVIL...He's also my favorite non-Oriole player now. GO KENNY!

Notice that no one answered the question about the crap on his hand in the first inning...Fox announcers asked both him and Leyland and never got an answer (and La Russa said at the press conference his guys thought some funky stuff was going on with the ball, so it wasn't a direct accusation).

The scary thing about young pitching...The Tigers aren't too far away from becoming a dominant team. They already have an Oakland-esque "Big Three", then Rogers then...Um, some guy. But look how far Mulder/Huson/Zito went alone. And the Tigers actually have $$$ to spend, unlike Oakland, so they could conceivable get better in the off-season.

Of course, the Orioles have the intimidating combination of Bedard/Cabrera/Loewen, with Kris Benson for back-up and look how bad we finished...But we'll get better! We can't get worse! (although maybe if we hit rock-bottom, our ownership will finally wake up, like Detroit's did).

Lukage Oct 24, 2006 11:30 PM

LaRussa basically said "Screw it, we'll beat them without getting him ejected from the series."

Tonight was just more evidence of that. 2 down, 2 to go.

Lukage Oct 26, 2006 08:22 AM

Looking at the weather here and the forecast for Detroit, this World Series might not finish until Halloween or perhaps even into November.

Lukage Oct 27, 2006 11:08 PM

CARDINALS WIN THE WORLD SERIES!

Golfdish from Hell Oct 27, 2006 11:40 PM

More like...Detroit lost the World Series. Can't win if you don't hit and keep trying to throw the ball in the stands.

Congrats to Jeff Weaver for being THE MAN in two games...He was really the key for the Cardinals, since their staff was so thin behind Carpenter.

This is good for Pujols...The thing that seems to seperate the greats from the really-goods is always whether or not they have a championship. So now that Pujols has a ring...

As long as it ain't the Yankees...

The Wise Vivi Oct 28, 2006 01:05 AM

Wow! Cardinals did it! That is awesome! Watched a few games with them playing this post season and was quite impressed. They deserve to win like that. They dominated almost the entire series.

Wow, 24 years since their last World Series Championship. Long time ago that was.

Lord Styphon Oct 28, 2006 01:26 AM

If only they could have done this 2 years ago, as well. =/

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 28, 2006 10:38 AM

The Tigers really blew this one. I was pulling for them, too. It would have been nice to see all of the old Pirates win one. It's a shame.
