Huh? =I

wvlfpvp Jan 2, 2009 05:17 PM

I don't really know, myself. Was I getting into character even though it'll be a year before my turn comes up?

THE WORLD WILL NEVER KNOW.

Does the magic effect of Bob's fireburst robes work retroactively if he's just been hit or is it just damage going forward? I'm going to use it anyway but it's nice to know these things...

The unmovable stubborn Jan 2, 2009 07:31 PM

Just going forward. (If you want to cancel a hit retroactively, you can always trigger your Shield)

Scent of a Grundle Jan 2, 2009 07:33 PM

Just out of curiosity, what good does Gabe's shiny circle do?

The unmovable stubborn Jan 2, 2009 07:42 PM

Grants +1 AC to any friendly inside it. Not that he needs it, he's already rocking an AC 2 points higher than the ogre. But do I complain about missing? No, I do not. I am stoic.

I was going to do that anyway too. :)

I assume that by my staying adjacent to the elf Brady can move past him without getting an opportunity attack in the back for the same reasons the elves made it past Deni ok and will in fact be in a flanking position on said elf if he does so?

The unmovable stubborn Jan 2, 2009 08:03 PM

:psyduck:

Whether or not Brady gets opportunity attacked has little to do with your location. The elves didn't trigger opportunity strikes because once they entered Gabriel's range they didn't leave it. You get opportune'd for fleeing enemies, not approaching them. If Brady were to go stand next to Brigid, or to enter the room with Mots, he'd catch a knife in the back. Otherwise he's fine.

I don't really see how he's going to flank the elf, though. You and Deni are flanking it, but there's not really space for a second flank pair in that clusterfuck.

Of course this is all theoretical since by the time Brady's turn comes around the situation will presumably be a little different

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 2, 2009 08:06 PM

I was just wondering really, I assumed the elf was facing me as he attacked me or does facing not really matter? I also thought you got opportunity attacked just for moving past an opponent, my mistake. I'll stay put anyway, if nothing else to stop the elf pushing past me and grabbing the sword, hoping he's not stupid enough to attack someone who's on fire.

Nah, the rules don't address facing at all because eventually you get into situations where you have to determine which direction an amorphous jelly or a man-eating plant is "facing". It's not really worth the bookkeeping it would require.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 2, 2009 08:18 PM

In which case I shall continue to pepper my descriptions of Bob's fighting technique wth instances of spinning around like a loon, combat dizziness notwithstanding...

Bradylama Jan 2, 2009 08:55 PM

Yeah ok just keep blocking the doorway with your frail elven flesh.

We can get two movement actions and one minor in a turn, right? Because if that's the case I suggest that Deni shift two spaces back since so long as the elves are hell-bent on getting the sword the ogre can't occupy the same tiles. If the elves are going to ignore the point of having a tank we might as well try to deal with them as they come.

Kwnwzrd, you need to watch Deni's back and make sure he can't get flanked. The same might go for you too, lurk.

Also, it is possible for Brigid to overturn that table for use as cover, right?

Yes.

It's a chair, but yes. Normally it would be a little silly but for a halfling I suppose it's plausible cover.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 3, 2009 08:27 AM

If anyone asks, it was totally intentional that I forgot that using ranged attacks in melee range would mean an opportunity attack, thereby burning the elf.

Brady, you can move past me and take my place once you've secured the sword, I just didn't think it was wise to let the elves get hold of it.

Pang, what effect does being slowed actually have? It never seems to effect the initiative order which is what I would have guessed at.

Bradylama Jan 3, 2009 10:03 AM

I know we've all been declaring our turns in blocks, but I'd like to see if Gabe kills the elf or not before making any decisions.

This will affect my move as well.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 3, 2009 10:59 AM

+10 to hit against a dude with 7 hp? Yeah, that's a dead fuckin' elf.

It just reduces your movement speed to 2. It's admittedly kind of crap.

Bradylama Jan 3, 2009 12:05 PM

I dunno why I wanted to wait for that, picking up a weapon takes as many minor actions as picking a nose.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 3, 2009 12:41 PM

There's no convenient place for this property in the wikipage, so I'll just paste it here. It's not a power you need to refer back to often, but I'm just letting you know what you've got.

Inescapable Weapon: Each time you miss a target with this weapon,
you gain a cumulative +1 bonus (up to the weapon’s
enhancement bonus) to your next attack roll with this
weapon against the same target. The bonus ends if you
attack a different target or when you hit.

So it's a +2 sword which means it goes up to a maximum of +4 after two successive misses.

No. Hard Pass. Jan 3, 2009 03:55 PM

O valiant strike. You're so great when I'm surrounded by douchebags.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 3, 2009 08:36 PM

Douchebags that someone else has softened up so you can look good, sure.

Killing blow on the dragon, nevar forget.

Stop being so selfish. If you die, Lurk gets to become a priestess and wield real power.

And Shin gets to really become a fairy-looking megalomaniac.

And Deni gets to actually be a stocky goofball with a silly beard.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 4, 2009 12:00 PM

Personally I'm just jealous of the 4' tall DM screen and the 18-inch miniatures.
