Really?

I'm starting to think the DVD isn't worth it, and a case is just a case. So if I can get the regular version that much cheaper, its an easy descision; although I can't see why any place would sell it $10 cheaper....

It's because Circuit City is having a sale on all videogames and media which just happens to kick off on the day FFXII is released. Futureshop had a sale for those up in Canada too where $6 was slashed off of the retail price but that ended today.

7 days...1 week...168 hours etc etc. Cannot fucking wait!

The LE guide has been shipping today too to online preorders and since I'll be out near my local EB on Wednesday I'm hoping they'll have them in-stock so I can pick my copy up. :)

Is there anyway to beat the elementals? Especially in the storm giza planes and the desert? Perhaps reflect then cast spells on it? Their spells always take off so much :(

Cheers

I haven't reached there yet but from what I've heard..

Spoiler:
You can wait till the weather changes and there won't be elementals when the sandstorm's gone.

Ditto and ditto. I was, in a way, expecting a call from them today. Quite impatient, I am.

Same as in FFXI then. :P

Anyhow. I have ordered the game and it should arrive a few days after US launch. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Vagrant Story team tackles a FF.

Sexninja Oct 24, 2006 08:41 AM

I am stuck badly, need GS4 codes for inifinite health or is it too early to ask?

I have to ask if leak version is US one or PAL?

Dizzy Oct 24, 2006 10:11 AM

Two questions about gameplay:

Spoiler:

First, at any point of the game, do you need to fight with an specific character? Because it's really a pain in the ass to lvl all them up. I'm with Vann, Ashe and Fran (the whole reason why im playing this). They are like 6 lvls above the rest. I just don't want to be forced to play with my low lvl charcters.

And second, In the bestiarity menu, some of the enemies have numbers on the right where it says "need". What's that? I need to kill that amount of enemies in a chain to get an item or what?

Not in a chain, just total, then you unlock a second page in that monster's entry that is usually a cool tidbit about the game's world.

I went through circuitcity.com and couldn't find anything on the matter. I also tried calling my local circuit city only to have some clueless chick answer. Is there anyway you can verify this sale for me? Thanks!

Just a keep an eye out but it'll most likely be in the Sunday ads. The info originally came from CAG which is a trust worthy site.

I hear some GS/EB preorders are beginning to be processed now too...

Soldier Oct 24, 2006 09:07 PM

By processed do you mean they're handing out copies now? Man, don't even tease me with that. I was convinced I could wait another week, since this week I'm going to be working on painting my room (and then someone is going to change all the carpeting upstairs with wooden floors).

Coincidentley, I'm stopping by my local GS tommorow, so maybe I'll get a straight answer by then.

Inhert Oct 24, 2006 09:36 PM

oh god if they could give me my copy now I would be very happy since I don't have school till next monday XD but I really doubt that here in Canada the EBgames will receive their copy one week before the release date...

Naw I doubt it. It's mainly online preorders switching status from preorder to "Processing" which will most likely stay like that until next Monday. The whole charge thing appearing on credit card statements from EB/GS was just a thing they were beginning to do to verify legit cards and accounts due to the large demand and orders they have to fulfill.

Soldier Oct 24, 2006 11:03 PM

Too bad. Still, if all the stores receive the game in stock a week early, I doubt all of them are going to be held over until the 31st. I guess it all depends which GS/EB managers will be cool enough to hand you the game early (causing instant jealousy to those of us who have to wait it out in full, despite constant begging).

Forsety Oct 24, 2006 11:35 PM

Not as many places already have the game as people would like to think. My friend works there, and if the game were already in the back she would let me buy a copy early. She's always done it before and never gotten in trouble for it. They really usually don't care as it's unlikely they will get in trouble unless they start putting the game out publically before the street date.

Don't worry. You need not.

So I went to my local EBgames today to see if they had the LE guide in-stock. The clerk told me they weren't in and that they only shipped yesterday and won't be in until Friday. So that was the downer for the day but I decided to go back a couple of hours later, since the store is located in a mall, and put down $25 on the guide and game for next Tuesday where the clerk recognised me and ushered me over to tell me they got the LE guides in. We got talking and he was telling me how it was a good idea I reserved one since they only got 5 copies of the guide.

So I then asked if they had any of the CE tin cases for display like most of the other EB/GS stores have and he said "Yeah, this way" and went to back of the door in the store room and had me hold open the door as he shuffled to get to a large cardboard box that had arrived along with the box of LE guides and was like "Now, don't kill me for this but...."

....Son of a bitch handed me a newly arrived and sealed retail copy of the Collector's Edition in all it's shrinkwrapped glory.

Of course he wouldn't sell it despite all my efforts, and pleas, but I was just happy to know they'll have it next Tuesday and are also having a midnight launch.

So yeah, that's my story of joy and woe and chances are your local EB/GameStop games are getting or already have their copies in the back.

The LE guide is pretty swank too, I managed to get Ashe as my cover, and the artbook is an actual nice addition featuring artwork and renders of the all cast and support characters, races, airships, environments and weapons. It even has the limited artwork by Yoshida, Hideo Minaba and co that were shortpacked as collector's cards with bottles of "Potion" in Japan.

I'll try to have some snaps up later but I'd be happy to answer any questions about the LE guide or artbook. :)

Soldier Oct 25, 2006 03:40 PM

I asked my GS clerk about handing out copies early, but it doesn't look like they're going to budge for fear of being fined by SE. They said the earliest I can pick it up is at midnight on the 31st, which is pretty pointless (I'm playing this sucker with my Home Theater turned up). It stinks, but there's no way around it (unless another clerk decides to play it cool).

And while it's nice that the Penelo FMV will be re-used in the DS game, the change in art style is a bit weird. The outfit is cute, but what's with the longer torso line?

I suppose it's nice to know that whatever lack of story Vaan and Penelo get, they have a whole game devoted to them for the DS, but that isn't quite the same as seeing them beautifully rendered and with voices.

It turns out that Walmart has the LE guide as well, and for only $18.60. I went to my local Gamestop to see about the guide and they also said they won't be in until friday. For the hell of it, I stopped at Walmart as well to see about the actual game (Walmart drops their prices with competitor's sales) and it turns out I could have them order the LE and get it on friday. Hopfully the LE guide can tie me over until tuesday!

Your so lucky! My only question is how the guide is packaged, is it similiar to KH2's LE guide? I'm looking forward to a few pictures!

Did you see that at Walmart the store or online? Hmm, I was by Walmart for lunch, didn't go in. I hate going there, especially if I don't have to but if it's a huge price difference for the game and book, I might need to cancel my pre-order at EB.

The woman in the gaming area ordered it for me, she said it'll be in on friday. When I got home I checked walmart.com to make sure (I thought the LE's where an EB/Gamestop exclusive) that the LE guide was listed there as well, and it was. However, I'm not sure about the LE game as I plan on just buying the regular version.

It was my mom (she works at our local walmart) who said that if circuit city was having a sale, so would walmart. She basically said they always drop the prices with their competitors.

I haven't seen the KH2 LE guide but if it's anything like Brady's other ones then yeah they're the same. I snapped some shots real quick:

Yep, its pretty similiar to KH's LE Guide; the only difference is this artbook looks promising. Very sexy, can't wait until friday!!

Thanks for the pics!

So how thick is the actual guide?

351 pages. So with that plus a 90-100 page artbook makes it a pretty hefty package.

Soldier Oct 25, 2006 05:09 PM

Ooh, illustrations and concept sketches. Now I'm interested. You said Wal-Mart has this guide the cheapest?
