Well jesus christ

maybe if our characters weren't suddenly and inexplicably totally fucking unable to connect one single hit to an enormous goddam pile of slow-moving ogre meat thus pushing it away from us, opportunity attacks wouldn't be a problem.

The unmovable stubborn Dec 29, 2008 12:02 AM

Actually they would

Because the ogre has long reach

:(

knkwzrd Dec 29, 2008 12:07 AM

well then

pfffffffff

Bradylama Dec 29, 2008 12:37 AM

Stop wasting your dailies without combat advantage.

Sarag Dec 29, 2008 12:40 AM

What's combat advantage

I gave it to Deni but I don't think it did any good :(

help me

The unmovable stubborn Dec 29, 2008 01:23 AM

One of the most common attack modifiers is combat
advantage. Combat advantage represents a situation in
which the defender can’t give full attention to defense.
The defender is pressed by multiple enemies at the
same time, stunned, distracted, or otherwise caught
off guard. When you have combat advantage against a
target, you gain a +2 bonus to your attack rolls against
that target.

The following situations give an attacker combat
advantage against a defender.
When a defender is . . .
Balancing
Blinded
Climbing
Dazed
Flanked by the attacker
Helpless
Prone (melee attacks only)
Restrained
Running
Squeezing
Stunned
Surprised
Unable to see the attacker
Unaware of you
Unconscious

Once per encounter, you can try to gain combat
advantage against a target by making a Bluff check.

✦ Gain Combat Advantage: Once per combat
encounter, you can try to gain combat advantage
against an adjacent enemy by feinting. As a standard
action, make a Bluff check opposed by the enemy’s
Insight check. If you succeed, you gain combat
advantage against the enemy until the end of your
next turn.

tl;dr bitches need to get they flank on

If only Shin had chosen Dance Magic instead of that gay wizardry shit...

At least Pang's now making a serious effort to kill you guys off, mwee hee hee :D

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Dec 29, 2008 07:47 AM

Can I use both my encounter powers in the same encounter?

The unmovable stubborn Dec 29, 2008 07:51 AM

Yup, you can use both encounter powers in the same encounter. That goes for everybody.

(I'm not "making an effort to kill them", I'm just making it conceivably possible for them to be killed. Having them roll over a dragon without so much as a knockdown was funny the one time, but I think Easy Mode would get boring after a while.)

The unmovable stubborn Dec 30, 2008 12:04 PM

Also, for people who never check the OP, that's been tidied up quite a bit and I've put in links to all the current books & mags that are relevant on the player side.

Looks fucking pimp.

Sarag Dec 30, 2008 03:59 PM

Hell yeah.

may I recommend to knk that the ogre is probably pretty capable of opening the door we just closed and didn't lock and I dno't know why our smartest party member is so absent-minded

Additional Spam:
and for that matter, why a monster twice as big as any of us is capable of evading almost every attack we throw at it

knkwzrd Dec 30, 2008 04:02 PM

The door may be shut, but the ogre is too wide to fit through it, even if it were open. He has to break through the frame if he wants to come inside.

FatsDomino Dec 30, 2008 04:20 PM

This is your grand opportunity to HOUSE THE OGRE, knk.

knkwzrd Dec 30, 2008 04:25 PM

I would do that if I didn't think Pang was in the mood to have it collapse and kill all of us.

FatsDomino Dec 30, 2008 04:36 PM

But the house is made of delicious chocolate pudding. If you're lucky. :)

Sarag Dec 30, 2008 05:01 PM

I'm just saying, absent-minded and glorious in your wedding beard

I lolled at that btw

Evading? You are interpreting the term "miss" too literally.

This is a "miss":

But this is also a "miss", if you follow

http://www.saxypunch.com/miscimg/bullet-eye.jpg

And so our friend the ogre is making good use of this second interpretation. His actual Reflex defense is relatively poor as you'd expect. It's all a question of puzzling out a given monster's strengths and weaknesses. An ogre, inherently, is hardy and durable but also sluggish and stupid. So it's down to making attacks against the proper defenses.

So the dude's tough against dailies and our sweet new level 3 skillz. :argh:

knkwzrd Dec 31, 2008 01:02 AM

I think what Pang is saying that we need to sit down and challenge this ogre fellow to an old fashioned battle of wits – to the death.

Scent of a Grundle Dec 31, 2008 01:09 AM

That could be a sweet puzzle later...

The unmovable stubborn Dec 31, 2008 01:17 AM

The "battle of wits" was when I demanded your loot or your lives and Deni picked your lives

I won that one

Scent of a Grundle Dec 31, 2008 01:30 AM

Even if Denicalis were smart enough to give up the loot, he wouldn't be allowed to because Gabe would probably have a stroke and drop dead if he even thought about backing out of a fight

Sarag Dec 31, 2008 01:41 AM

Look, let's just poison both cups and let Bob challenge the bastard.

He has second chance and I'll brooch him if all else fails.
