I hope we don't set up another one though! I pretty much showed you all my funniest ones!! |

I didn't see a separate thread for it, and must have missed it if it was within this thread since there was no, like, official commitment or anything :/ Oh well, I sent pictures almost daily to my Wii buddies anyways. |
Oh.
I guess I should make a thread for this kind of thing then. I said pages ago that people who wanted to participate send it to me through PM. I wanted to keep the participants hidden and then reveal the winner and who submitted after a voting period. Actually, I'll wait until Sunday to make the thread and stuff. Week 1 Theme: Anything Goes You have until Saturday, April 26th @ 11:59 PM EST to submit a screenshot to me via PM. |
Eh, guess I must had missed the part of PMing you the picture. lol
I'll submit one by tomorrow. :) |
Bumping and reminding:
You have until Saturday, April 26th @ 11:59 PM EST to submit a screenshot to me via PM. What baffles me is that people keep asking about but only ONE person actually submits anything. I want this to work. Additional Spam: Hey, so Europe finally has a confirmed release date on Brawl. GoNintendo » Blog Archive » Brawl hits Europe on June 27th, WiiWare on May 20th, Nintendo Channel on May 30th…and MANY more dates (full Wii/DS release lists) - ALL CONFIRMED!- What are you waiting for? According to the article, Brawl comes out in Europe on June 27. |
Well Speed Demos Archive finally got a submission for fastest Boss Battles time. This is on easy, but it's still pretty sick and they go through it as Charizard. I never would have thought the rock throw would work like that. Speed Demos Archive - download
I bet it doesn't work as well on intense difficulty. ;) |
Hey wow, Yahtzee actually reviewed Brawl. I didn't see that one coming. Not surprisingly he wasn't too fond of it.
The Escapist : Zero Punctuation: Super Smash Bros. Brawl |
I actually agree with a lot of the things he said. He makes good points about 50% of the game needing to be unlocked and that the single player campaign, as much as I liked the cutscenes, weren't terribly fun and got a bit repetitive after a bit, and yeah, you become "that guy" soon after you've had the time to beat SSE, regardless of whether or not you were "that guy" before. While I do enjoy this game, I can't claim it to be the definitive purpose of owning a Wii. It's not a bad game, but it's not the best game by far.
On a random note: The Marth bit made me laugh, as he's not the first person to say that. |
Yeah, very true. Marth only matters to players of Brawl because he was in Melee. I remember that exact "who the hell is this guy?" question when he was an approaching challenger in Melee though. And of course, that question was shortly followed by "Why does he only speak in Japanese?".

OK I am Brawling RIGHT NAO. Please join me :( ^_^
I need my Brawl every weekend!! We need 2 players! Update: Aw nobody is joining. Gonna play Octomania now then. |
Don't forget! Screen shots due by 11:59 PM EST!!
We still need more! And anyone who entered anything, please feel free to provide a caption! |
While Yahtzee's review was amusing he contradicts himself by saying anyone who button mashes can beat someone who has supposedly "learned" the game that you can't actually "learn" or something and also that you can turn into "that guy" after "learning" the game and whoever hasn't "learned" how to play the game will infuriate you with their ineptness to the point of driving you to play with other "that guy"s who apparently also were able to "learn" a game that "learning" is pointless because button mashing defeats it ALWAYS. One or the other, Yahtzee. Brawl is either a pointless button masher or it's easy to learn and hard to master.
It's beside the point that Yahtzee almost never goes about playing most games correctly either unless he's captured by it and by the by isn't given a stigma by it prior be it annoying fan boys or a feature he's put a hex on. If he doesn't start a game like that then he won't explore it like he should. But hey he has an interesting opinion that I understand well enough by now and it shows his bias towards certain games but that doesn't make a few of his points null nor does it make his feature any less entertaining. I just wish he could find the same kind of enjoyment out of games that most of us can. |
Someone is taking Yahtzee's reviews a bit too seriously~
Besides, if he enjoyed everything he played his reviews would cease to be funny. |
Oh I know. He just got a few things wrong. I enjoyed the review plenty and had a very hearty laugh on Wednesday. Point being is you can explore a game well enough and still tear it a new one. I'm honestly happy that he went through the effort of going to GAMETRADERS ROBINA so he could review the thing considering it would have been another month or so before he could officially do so through Nintendo of Kangaroo's fantastic distribution. Thing is though he clearly did not want to play this game from the get go. It was more of a rant than a review.
|
Or that none of his friends have it yet and therefore he will become "that guy."
Also, in brawls, my "Marth" clearly has the announcer saying "Munch!" |
Thanks for playing with me, Sm and BigCN! The team battles were fun XD
Funniest part? Suiciding with the Landmasta twice XD |
Say...might anyone have or know of a decent program to convert the snapshots from .bin to some image format? I found one for converting to JPEG, but on any of the options the picture quality isn't all that great. I've heard some suggest on other forums converting to bmp or png instead but I've yet to find programs for this. Anyone able to help?
|
I'll field this one FW ;) haha.
Here's a website that does it, although I don't think you can upscale the quality from whatever it provides: Converter Enter the .bin file and it'll churn out pretty pictures in response! |
Yeah, that looks about the same in terms of quality as the program I found. Possibly because they might use the same source code on the site, dunno. Thanks anyway, though.
|
You can't make the snapshots any better than what the programs/websites provide as far as I know. What's wrong with them though? The pics I take sure look good enough to me.
|
There is somewhat of a difference if you reduce the size of the photos:
640x480:
400x300:
|
Ah there is a difference! Problem is, I hate smaller images. As long as it's big and decent looking, I don't mind the quality unless I wanted to use it for wallpaper :3
|
Yeah, I use Brawl screens as my cell phone wallpaper. The quality suffers a little, but I live. ;_;
|
|
I know some people have migrated over to Mario Kart Wii for a bit, which I won't be getting until probably this weekend.
I should be playing Brawl for the rest of the night, while going on and off line to see if anyone's on. If anyone wants to match me and I'm not on, just find me on AIM and I'll get on right away. |
