I've played over 10hrs of Zelda, and some (8) rounds of different Wii Sports games. I also made quite a few Mii's and dinked around in the menu for a long time. Haven't even had the battery hit half yet. I'm pretty stoked about the battery life. Much better than I had feared it would be.
about the same with me
just like once it went down one notch then right back up again
wii rules:edgarrock:

nintendo finally brain washed me
i guess i have to buy that wifi dongle soon
that error msg scare is haunting me to find out if mines is defected

oh yeah i played cod3 for wii
i actually got into it
omg the learning curve tho.. jeez 30mins just to find out the controls to pick up something (could of been that it was my first wii game but w/e)
but yeah the game kicks ass
when i get the money i plan on buying it

the game i really want to play is rayman now
that just looks pure fun :edgartpg:

I ran into the problem of battery life problem at hand a few pages back.

I dropped $20 into 4 rechargable batteries w/charger as grawl suggested (the ones for digital cameras).

TheReverend Nov 26, 2006 06:55 AM

I bought 24 Energizer AAs for $10 the other day. I figure that should last me a good while :D.

Slayer X Nov 26, 2006 10:15 AM

Zelda is the #1 murderer of battery life!!!

lol, I'm on my third set of batteries now and I'm only 40hours through the game (+ time spent in RayMan and Red Steel). But man does it eat up batteries, has anyone heard if Nintendo is coming out with a rechargable battery pack for it yet?

Lacerta Nov 26, 2006 11:48 AM

Yay I got a Wii.

So, the workers told me 8AM. One manager said 9AM.

I get there at 8AM to find 20 people ahead of me, but some were in groups so I was actually number 11.

So it's 8AM. Nothing.
9AM. Nothing.

People were getting kind of anxious so they are banging on the door and stuff asking for the Wii. Cop pushes people away and what not.

The main manager comes out at 9:55 and says they are going to be giving out tickets now, and that they had 27 Wiis in stock. Then they shuffled us all into customer service after we got our tickets and we bought our Wiis and went on our merry way.

They said the warranty will cover any bricking that might occur due to WiiConnect24 or any System Updates. But I don't know if I actually want to bother with that yet.

Slayer X Nov 26, 2006 11:52 AM

I would because if the software update is related to a specific hardware problem within the system it's better to find out and get one that doesn't have the problem in it's place. Then again there have been many reports that Nintendo has fixed the problem in the second -> later shipments of the system, so if that's then case then you should have nothing to worry about.

VicViper Nov 26, 2006 11:55 AM

Lacerta, what store did you get your Wii at? Has anyone gone to Best Buy today to see if the Sunday shipment rumors were true? I can't believe that people are still lining up at stores a week after the system's release date! Feels like Nintendo has a solid contender on its hands! I was in line at 6:00AM on launch day and got my Wii right away, which I'm very happy about since it seems so hard to get one still. My poor brother is dying to get one, and I'm trying to help him out. As for the batteries thing, I was thinking about buying one of those Energizer rechargeable 4-packs....

Lacerta Nov 26, 2006 12:30 PM

I got mine at Best Buy.

Also I can't even get online anyway. My router does not support the Wii. Oh well.

It should be noted that the store I went too was already sold out by the time I left the store. The other BBs in the area were definitely sold out as they had over 200 people waiting in line for one (Which is why people started rushing into the location I went to)

BlueMikey Nov 26, 2006 12:48 PM

I got mine at Best Buy today too!

I got there at 9 am (I knew they were opening at 10 am) and there was already a pretty good sized line. They said no one had been out yet to say how many Wiis or anything with tickets, so I waited. At about 9:30, a guy came out and handed out tickets; I ended up #40 out of 54 Wiis they were handing out.

I already had a copy of Zelda and BIG DAMN TRUCKS, but I decided to get Trauma Center and went on my merry way. I was out of there by 10:15.

I thought it was odd, the people in line seemed oddly uninformed. This rumor went through the whole line that a nunchuk wasn't included in the box and no one seemed to believe me when I told them it was.

So, very cool. :) Off to set it up when I finish breakfast.

I think this, and the fact that they're still doling them out in bunches of 50 a week after launch, goes to show that they're reeling in the casual gamer.

Anyone know of a reliable source for sales #'s for the PS3/Wii?

The B0mb Nov 26, 2006 04:58 PM

Just a random thought. I thought I had read somewhere that the Wiimote used Bluetooth. If this is correct has anyone used it as a wiimote for their comp? IE switching tracks on Winamp from across the room or something? I don't have a blue Tooth reciever on my comp..but i'd get one if that was possible. While playing I could use controller #2 to switch songas on the comp heh.

Free.User Nov 26, 2006 05:11 PM

I've heard that while the Wiimote is recognized as a bluetooth device, it doesn't do anything.

ramoth Nov 26, 2006 05:28 PM

I can check out what the Wiimote does or doesn't do as a BT device -- I have BT on my Mac. Will edit this post once I find out.

VitaPup Nov 26, 2006 10:31 PM

How are you guys finding out when stores are getting the Wiis in? I've asked around a few places and all I've heard was that they are expecting a shipment in but dont know when or how many.

cubed Nov 26, 2006 10:39 PM

I'm subscribed to a few newsletters and they say when they are getting their next shipping. but the number, individual stores don't know for sure. especially if you're asking the new guy -_-;;

Lukage Nov 26, 2006 11:25 PM

Has anyone found out the deal with memory on the Wiimote? Go to your Mii Plaza and choose whatever that option is above Wii Friends and you'll understand.

The Plane Is A Tiger Nov 26, 2006 11:27 PM

What about the Wiimote memory? I used it to transfer a bunch of Miis I'd made on my brother's Wii back to my own.

Isn't it easier to just send it from one machine to the other online?

The Plane Is A Tiger Nov 26, 2006 11:36 PM

Well, my Wii wasn't set up yet. It was actually much easier just to pop 10 or however many it held onto the Wiimote, then drop them all off when I got home.

About saving...lets say I wanted to bring my save file of zelda to a friend's house...does zelda have a choice to save ingame to sd slot 1-2 or HD...or do you have to move files outside of the game in the browser?

I believe you have to move them to the SD card and bring the card elsewhere. By default all games will save to the HDD.

Hmm I guess that makes it kind of impossible to play your save file on someone elses Wii if they have a save file from the same game on their system...since you couldnt load from the card and you couldnt move it to the HD because it'd overwrite theirs.
Damnit!

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Can someone test this out to see if it's true?

DjMeas Nov 27, 2006 12:43 PM

I guess you'll have to ask your friend to move HIS save to his SD so
you can write your own save on the Wii's HD... Which seems really tedious.

Wonder why nintendo had to make is so complicated ^_^''

Lacerta Nov 27, 2006 01:00 PM

It is kind of tedious, and one can only hope in a future update they will make it easier on us D:
