I'm not going to go pretending it's some lofty concept, Pang. Metal is about being angry. They're not angry enough. They like to look like they're angry, but they're not angry.
|
But what about Crotchduster. They're about as metal as they come, and they aren't angry.
*pokes holes with poking finger* Also Sunn O))) & Earth. Don't get a bunch of anger from them. Also, if anger is the only criteria we're going by here, then everything Trent Reznor touches (except for perfect drug and ghosts i-iv) is pure metal. Boy has issues. |

Isn't there a J-pop thread lurking somewhere here, anyhow? |
Well try out this song then. It's going to be a music video off of the new album they're promoting. It's progressive, hard, yet melodic as well.
Vinushka 02-Vinushka.mp3 They're not J-Pop dude, why dont you just listen and see for yourself. |

clearly no anger And of course it's not the only criteria, but it's a pretty damned important one for 95% of the genre. |

Tell me. Are you a fan of HIM? |

No I don't listen to HIM. And if I did, what does that mean? Are you trying to compare HIM to Dir en grey? You know, I gotta be honest...you're coming off as a pretentious metalhead, who refuses to listen to anything not metal cuz its 'gay' to him. |
You made it clear you knew what kind of responses you were going to get with your first post, and now that those are the exact responses that are being given to you you appear somehow surprised.
|
You got a point, touche. But I guess i'm just an idealist who believes there are some open-minded metalheads out there, and I was wanting to see if there were any.

I've always liked their drummer, though. A lively, organic player dude he is. (And I'd still say they're more rock than metal.) |

I'm pretty damned openminded, but the issue here is more that you're being presumptive than anything else. Why did you think bringing this shite in here in the first place would yield a positive response? |

Ok, calm down.

See, the problem with Dir en Grey being metal is that there isn't enough Satan.
Needs moar Satan. |
True. Satan and Sex.
Sex Machineguns. |
Sex Machineguns is awesome.
I've been on a tech death metal binge lately so I dropped about 100 bucks at Metal Devastation and got: Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds Decrepit Birth - ...And Time Begins Odious Mortem - Cryptic Implosion Odious Mortem - Devouring the Prophecy Psycroptic - Symbols of Failure Psycroptic - Th Scepter of the Ancients Spawn of Possession - Cabinet That store is seriously awesome and I need to go there more often. They have metal CDs of all genres including hard to find ones, except for the ultra rare stuff that you get from online order and they have an abundance of shirts and hoodies there. Oh yeah and I guess due to how much I purchased I was able to get a free t-shirt. I got a Kreator - Pleasure To Kill shirt. And the store doubles as a place for seeing small and local metal shows. I'll probably go to one next month to see this symphonic black metal band called Sothis. They're alright but Abysmal Dawn is opening for them and they're a phenomenal technical death metal band. |
New Asmegin motherfuckers. New album after 5 years!

-- I checked out Asmegin, never had heard of them before. A couple of the tracks I really enjoyed (the title track especially) but the rest didn't do much for me. |
A friend of mine is letting me borrow a couple of grindcore-ish albums:
Swarrrm - Nise Kyuseishu Domo Holy fucking shit. Seriously, I swear the Japanese are better at making fucking batshit insane noisy music than Americans are. I mean, look at fucking Merzbow, Boris, and Melt Banana. Oh and this. I have no clue what the hell was going on in the album, but it's largely enjoyable. There seems to be actual song structure going on, too. Maybe. Anaal Nathrakh - Hell Is Empty, and All the Devils Are Here Again. Fucking nuts, but in a completely different way. I guess that's the difference between death/grind (this album) and avant/grind (the other album). There's moments of eerie beauty on this bitch. I may be uploading both to the MEC sometime soon. |
That Anaal Nathrakh album is excellent. I do think Eschaton is a better album overall (plus it has more of a BM influence going on), but Virus Bomb is pure fucking gold in musical form.
|
Y'all need to listen to some real damn music.
|
Such as what, H-Bomb. What do you consider real music?
H-Bomb, perhaps? Why, I do believe there's a bit of a contradiction here. |
