soo.. how are the loading times/framerates?

Hows the flicker option? I dont have a HDTV, does it help any? It did in Shadow Hearts: from the new world.. i liked the option

i have to wait til the 31/1st to play it

Freddy Krueger Oct 9, 2006 04:03 PM

haven't seen any slowdown at all and I'm in 40 hours. Not sure what flicker does exactly.

rpgcrazied Oct 9, 2006 04:10 PM

suppose to smooth the image, an reduce jaggies.. on crappy tvs :P like i said, it helped alot in shadow hearts : from the new world.. hope its the same

Freddy Krueger Oct 9, 2006 05:02 PM

well for a PS2 game it sure has a lot less jaggies then most PS2 games.

Ashton Oct 9, 2006 08:12 PM

Looks like i get to work on quickenings, because i can't afford the upkeep on Hi-potions and cura costs a retarded amoutn of mp even with the channeling licenses. Which means i get to set my Ally HP <40% to Cura! AE Heals i don't need, yay.

Goddamnit if Curaga is AE i'll be so pissed. And if it costs more MP than cura i'll be REALLY pissed.

Spoiler:
It's single-person and it costs less than Cura.

Freddy Krueger Oct 9, 2006 11:34 PM

Curaja is a buffer version of Cura though.

DragoonKain Oct 10, 2006 01:55 AM

Just checking in. FFXII is going to be the first RPG I've bought in about a year, so I'm very much looking forward to it. To me FFX-2 was a disgrace, so I hope this can rebound.

so you mean it's like Regen where it heal you at different time interval for a limited time?

Craze Oct 10, 2006 06:39 AM

I think the slowest loading time I had was about 15 seconds. Didn't know what took so long..

About 4 hours into the game and still in Giza plains right now, trying to do some levelling up. I'm surprised that treasures are re-spawning, and it makes me glad that at least you're rewarded by revisiting the area :D

No, it heals like Cura but just heals a lot more. Also FFXII is 100 times better then FFX-2 lol.

mini quest spoiler help please (thank jazzflight)
Spoiler:
is anyone of you doing the mini site quest Dynast Cactoid ?

i'm about 20h in the game, have met a banga with a travel bag in rabanastre, he's trying to study the sandstorms in westersands, then i have to talk to some other guys for some info, they want me to find 2 parts of a winvayne (?) hidden under a Dynast Cactoid

i have found some cactoid which i can check but they tell me "didn't find anything" ... and now i don't know what to do :(

Freddy Krueger Oct 10, 2006 11:24 AM

I was doing that but stopped cause the boss for it is supposed to be hard, I'll try again soon though. Try Gamefaqs for some help

Hello_Kitty Oct 10, 2006 12:12 PM

mini quest help request
Spoiler:
unfortunately, the only thing i found on Gamefaqs is about the cactoid bounty, this is not the same, the one i'm into is not a bounty

also, a new mini side quest, i have found a letter in the house where the little Seeq was hiding (afraid of the ghost)

this letter is about i guess the water knobs in the sewers ... inscriptions (east southeast east,etc...)

if anyone has info on this, when i go to the knobs, it tells me i need a key to operate them :(

JazzFlight Oct 10, 2006 12:34 PM

Cactoid item thing:
The hidden cactoid thing is in a small dead end area FURTHER to the west. You were just in the first dead end area.

Also, guys, if you're discussing quests or hunts, put them in spoilers.

Hello_Kitty Oct 10, 2006 01:11 PM

thanks Jazzflight, i'm such a noob, i even had noted "northwest" but i was south east and saying "what... i'm here and there's nothing..."

Simo Oct 10, 2006 03:59 PM

Well 3 weeks left for everyone else and I'm pumped! It seems like the weeks are just flying by for some odd reason but I'm not complaining. :) Hopefully I can get some info on the LE guide and possible bump in release dates if my local EB is well informed.

Incidentally tomorrow is supposed to be the "Official FFXII Day" event in NY with the DigitalLive Expo the day after where both events will have the full retailers version of the game playable on the floor.

BigBadToyStore is also offering up the FFXII line from Play Arts for preorder:

While EBgames now has a sweepstakes going on for a "Dress Up and Win":

Shield your eyes from the gallery though...

When did you first learn about the game? Unless you were just hyped right after playing FFXI or something.

I somehow missed this so I apologise Spatula. I've pretty much been looking forward to FFXII even before FFXI was released because XI held no interest for me as I'm not really a big MMORPG player but I first heard about and followed FFXII probably around December 2002 when they announced the staff and revealed the first peice of artwork. When I moved to the US in September 2003, a month later they unveiled the game's original release date along with Vaan and Ashe.

Going back to the LE guide...errr what exactly is it that everyone wants to know about the LE guide anyways? According to the official information so far it'll be available in 6 different covers with an 100 page artbook both packaged in a folio type folder similiar to their past LE guides. So err is there something else I'm missing....?

WAAAAA! Must get! 6 different covers? I guess I want the one that matches the LE cover for the game.

I'm guessing that the six different covers correspond to the six main characters you can have in your party. It makes sense that way.

I want the Balthier cover.

Mucknuggle Oct 10, 2006 05:14 PM

Are you serious? That's ridiculous. Just make one cover. Chances are I'm going to get stuck with the ugly one since I have no choice in what cover I receive. But you know what? I really don't care. I'm going to see the cover like once, and all 6 will probably be printed in the art book just like with the FFX-2 guide. Which reminds me, I should play that game again some time soon. It was really fun.

Inhert Oct 10, 2006 05:53 PM

this is probably like the KH2 limited edition cover where you "can't" be sure which cover you'll get (well there's was somethings with the KH2 guide with the a code that was telling which one you were getting)

Freelance Oct 10, 2006 06:39 PM

Finally! Facts about the LE guide!

Damn! A 100 page artbook? Now I want one >_> I don't care for the cover, I just want that book! I just hope it's not like the crappy FFX one and more like the FFIX one.

Spatula Oct 10, 2006 07:02 PM

Six covers eh? Doesn't look like the Judge will be included. ;___;

Mucknuggle Oct 10, 2006 07:10 PM

Wow. The Judge would make for an awesome cover.

Simo Oct 10, 2006 07:11 PM

Keep in mind though that you're really getting 2 covers: 1 for the actual guide and then one for the casing which will hold both the guide and artbook.

I'd get it solely for the artbook but Brady's LE package can be a hit and miss since the artbook with the MGS3 LE guide was comprised of material already released via MGS1 & 2's artbooks and the stuff for MGS3 was just recycled promotional material. Onimusha 3's on the hand featured some great stuff that I'd never scene including environmental artwork for all 3 games plus character designs.

Actually I wonder how many pages the Onimusha artbook was? I don't recall it being 100...
