Wow..Amazing update, something I definately did not see coming. Now all there needs to be is Ness, Megaman and the option of adding your own music to the game via SD card and you will have the best game ever created.

Just because it looks too complicated for you, doesn't mean the rest of us won't use it.

Looks comprehensive enough for me, hopefully I won't run out of flash memory because I'll just build platforming levels for the rest of the decade <3

You lie. You know all those tourney loving folks will gobble this up, what with their complete control over how the stage is. They'll be sending each other completely flat stages of varying lengths like crazy.

And, like the Pictochat level update, clowns are already talking about making penis stages.

It doesn't look complicated at all, but tourneyfags will prefer the original. We're not going to see tournaments with custom stages. Who the fuck wants to play in someone else's custom made stage, which will most definitely be to the opposition's advantage, like Metal Sphere just said? At least the normal stages will be balanced, like in SS64.

Krelian Oct 29, 2007 07:07 AM

"Like Metal Sphere just said"? Do tell me how the fuck having a completely flat level can be to anyone's advantage.

Obviously the level editor is not designed for tournament play, this is a given. Have you ever seen a tournament match on a fan created Starcraft or Counter-Strike level?

No, this feature, like camera mode and its ilk are designed for fun fun fun, usually with friends. You play with friends, right? I don't believe you'd have any kind of smash bros tournaments over there.

Dalkaen Oct 29, 2007 07:20 AM

Wow, a stage builder? I did not see that coming. Could be cool, though.

FatsDomino Oct 29, 2007 07:59 AM

It would be nice if they could include moving platforms and stuff rather than it always being a standard flat stage. Awesome update though. I hope the rest of the week is just as good. =)

I have no idea about the NZ scene, although I did see a tournament being held in Auckland earlier this year.

As for fan made maps on tournaments of Starcraft: Blue-Storm, Fantasy II, Persona Ever, Katrina, Zodiac, Python 1.2, Loki II, Xenosky, Gaema Gowon, Ride of Valkyries, Jungle Story, Jim Raynor's Memory, etc, I'm stopping now. All these are used in tournament matches of Starcraft.

I don't follow CS so I wouldn't know whether or not they have fan made maps in tournaments, but yeah, it does happen. The thing is, they're usually not to one's advantage.

Then how the hell would you know how balanced Brawl maps people would create? Then again what would that even matter, since more people will play Brawl just for fun than for tournaments anyway.

Wall Feces Oct 29, 2007 09:45 AM

Hey Lix, shut up. Thanks.

Anyway, this was a sweet, unexpected little gem. I already have tons of retarded ideas brewing in my head for this mode that I can't wait to unleash.

Stop Sign Oct 29, 2007 10:14 AM

I must be the only stupidhead whose first idea was, "Cool, let's see what happens if I make the stage a box." :tpg:

I don't as of yet, but I'm very certain people will be playing the default maps in tournaments over custom ones.

map car man words telling me to do things Oct 29, 2007 10:20 AM

Aaaaand this is still relevant how? Well already know it's not for tournament play anyway.

"No one will use it" is pretty different from "I think default maps will probably be used more often in tournaments than custom ones. Just some insight to you all."

wvlfpvp Oct 29, 2007 10:26 AM

I think the best part of this is the fact that Ninty will be sending us a new stage every day. That's right, Nintendo. Make me play for at least 10 minutes a day FOREVER.

Also "very scary ruins" is new catchphrase of the year.

Possibly can even replace "ROWSDOWER"

Also, Acer's avatar is awesomer now.

There are moving platforms. I saw them in this picture before, under Features. If you're talking about something that I missed, however, then sorry. >_<

There will also be spikes, which I'll be using to annoy the hell out of my friends in maps. xD

Monkey King Oct 29, 2007 10:52 AM

It's like the gift that keeps on giving. I've made it my policy never to pre-order, but damn, I think I might have to.

I wonder how the possibility of player-made penis stages is going to affect the game's rating?

RacinReaver Oct 29, 2007 11:21 AM

In before the internet gets flooded by rotating penis swastika stages.

Kaleb.G Oct 29, 2007 11:41 AM

I'll make a level. It will be the word "FUCK" spelled out with blocks. Stage of the century.

FatsDomino Oct 29, 2007 11:54 AM

Mine will be pixel cock. It will be amazing. =)

immp Oct 29, 2007 12:00 PM

Mine will be a pixel cambodian prostitute giving an 'alienized' indian elephant an enima with her tongue and two moving platforms as her prosthetic arms. It should be good.

Hmm, that's an intriguing thought, unless I'm not reading carefully enough or far back in the thread enough to see it to be disproved. That could be like some kind of masochist training/stress relief stage, unless they decide to put constraints on character entry placement or box linkage.

Wall Feces Oct 29, 2007 12:07 PM

Small vertically moving platforms sandwiched between spikes going all along the top and bottom of the level. Behold my detailed drawing of the idea:

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Yeah, you'll eat it up.

Chaotic Oct 29, 2007 12:31 PM

This comic describes perfectly what I want to make. :)
