I definitely think we need to create a work-in progress feature, with full details, for instance, I think it'd be neat if we could have like a progress-meter of some kind, like either we rippers have an editable field where we can enter how long we believe it might take before the rip is finished or there's like a bar that we can edit depending on how far we've come with recording, editing, encoding, arranging, tagging, releasing. Also, of course - submitter name, email, game details etc. should be included. The basic stuff.

As far as FTPs concerned, I think we should look into this later, as there's still some trouble over at the My Stuff forum with viruses being uploaded. Let the dust settle for a while and we'll work something out.

OK - I just tried this thing out and it's awesome Cubed. With all the Pizza Island/RL stuff going on I'd put this on the backburner for a bit and I'm sorry I did. Really choice work here man. :)

I'm gonna add a few more just to try it out.

I'm wondering though if there should be a login feature for trusted rippers to add/edit thier material just as a failsafe to prevent people from coming in and vandalizing the info perhaps? Precautionary measure and all that jazz.

cubed Dec 18, 2006 09:23 PM

well for the moment, no there won't be any login feature. The only thing I can do right now is to ban IPs. what's that "Pizza Island/RL stuff" you're talking about ? O_o

Dubble Dec 18, 2006 09:35 PM

Pizza Island = an event that was going on here on the GFF boards (I'm surprised you missed it considering how everybody on the main boards was doing it.) Unfortunately, participating in it had a nasty glitch that wiped out your subscribed threads, which is why I forgot all about the Rippers Stash project.

RL Stuff = Real life issues going on at the moment. :)

I like the site cubed, I sent you an e-mail about my name, but maybe you didn't get it. I added my RR7 rip to the site, was wondering if you could uppercase my name to "Godai". Sorry for nit-picking. :D

Rimo Dec 20, 2006 09:31 AM

I'd have another suggestion, if it's possible to be done: have an option to sort the request list by systems. The list is already long and it's a bit hard to take a good look at it without feeling overwhelmed. Also, it would be easier to try to fulfill requests when all those that a ripper could do (he owns the system/game) are listed together. Thanks!

Actually I did receive it and I thought I changed it...... Damn.... sorry ;_;

@Rimo: Sure. The Request page is still "version 1.1" lol I just did the page like that to be able to say the request page is there.

Cubed, just out of curiosity.. how is the single-track download box coming along? I would assume you'd just need the URL and a parser character per line, but as it says.. I won't be entering anything for fear of my life ;)

cubed Dec 20, 2006 09:42 PM

Oh yeah I didn't work much in this feature lately...

Yeah basically line 1 will be the url of track 1, etc.

With Cubed World, I was restricting where the tracks are stored, the names of the folders and tracks (for example the "?" cannot be used in the filename, and gathering every possibility of its replacement like "_" or simply nothing scares me.). So for the moment, WHEN IT WILL BE DONE AND WORKING, we'll stick with basic one url per line. Anyway all the information you need will be shown.

Good news, I didn't kill anybody. Cause I didn't check if we have curious here. So be scared.

Would my rip of the 18 Wii Channel songs count? If so, I'll add it, though I'm not sure who the composer is.

cubed Dec 24, 2006 12:37 AM

Sure. A rip is a rip :) As for the composer.... let's just say "Nintendo" is fine.

Drakken Jan 3, 2007 03:40 PM

And rips of game discs (I have the actual game and rip .mp3s from the disc) can be added too, I assume? Is there a proper name for that, or are they just called rips?

They're known as Redbook Audio rips, I believe.

That's if the rip in question is CDDA. It's possible Drakken meant simply copying mp3s from the game disc, but I wouldn't know. Ambiguous English ftl. >_>

Drakken Jan 4, 2007 01:22 AM

Please excuse my ignorance, but how can I determine that? I'm using Exact Audio Copy to rip the songs from the game discs, fyi.

Monkey King Jan 4, 2007 03:44 AM

If you're copying CD audio tracks, then it's Redbook audio. I think the confusion was in them thinking that you were pulling actual MP3s from the game data.

Incidentally, having just now gotten caught up here, you could probably add my name to the list. I've done a few rips, with another on the way as soon as I can get a proper tracklisting. How do you get to this site, anyway?

Kaleb.G Jan 12, 2007 07:38 PM

Infernal Monkey has recently joined us as a ripper. ='D

He has a test run rip here, but he plans to make some serious rips soon.

cubed, if you want me to take care of simple duties like adding new rippers to the database, I can do that.

Also, as a general note, I make database backups of my entire server about every week, so everyone can be assured that all information will be safe from destruction.

Drakken Jan 24, 2007 03:53 PM

I added all my recent rips. With that, The Rippers' Stash now has over 500 rips listed.

Just thought I'd note that. :p

eriol33 Jan 24, 2007 09:40 PM

just wondering... I follow this thread in silent, has the site been opened to public now?

cubed Jan 25, 2007 01:25 AM

as it only contains infos of "available" rips, I don't really see the point to show it to the public just now. I would need some volunteers to host the gamerips and who are willing to "fuse" it with the website. Or if anybody is willing to host a tracker for torrents, that would be nice too.

Pyocola Jan 25, 2007 06:39 AM

So how do you get access to this site?

You could PM Cubed seeing as you're a ripper.

kuttlas Feb 28, 2007 04:26 AM

I finally got around to contributing something. It's alot easier to add rips than cubed world, so I'll probably add all my rips soon. The list of available systems is very incomplete though, do you intend to make it larger?

cubed Feb 28, 2007 09:59 AM

Just tell me which ones you need and me or kaleb will add them as soon as possible.

kuttlas Feb 28, 2007 07:01 PM

I don't need them for any rips I've done just yet but you might consider adding these systems since I have seen rips in the past:

Amiga CD32
Atari Jaguar
Atari Lynx
Bandai Wondersawn/Color
NEC PC-88
NEC PC-9801
NEC PC-Engine
NEC PC-Engine Super CD
Nokia N-Gage
Panasonic 3DO
Philips CD-i
Sega 32X
SNK Neo Geo
SNK Neo Geo Pocket/Color

Also I think Computer should be divided into Windows PC and Mac.
