One of the best manga's I've read in a long time. It sorta makes you remind you of your own childhood(not a good thing if you had a bad one..) I've noticed.. ADV is severly behind in releasing the manga. Kinda stopped at Vol.3(if more are already released, then damn where the hell have I been?), I pray that they didn't stop distirbuting this amazing series. My favorite chapter was the chicada. The look on Fuka's Mom was priceless.:D

Hatter106 Jun 20, 2006 08:50 PM

I hope this series continues for a long time... Azuma doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get them anywhere, though, so hopefully it'll continue well beyond Azumanga Daioh' four volumes. When I first saw that series, I thought it was the epitome of charming "slice-of-life" material, but man, Yotsuba just blows it out of the water. For all its wacky humour, it truly is founded in realistic family behaviour. And I can't stress enough how much Azuma's art has progressed since the early days of Azumanga.

lemonmanko Jun 23, 2006 09:55 PM

a thousand times thank you for making this thread
i saw the name and the manga she made before is Azumanga daioh (godly in my eyes) and pick it up today

*sigh* im in love with this manga
its azumanga daioh and more

the hell is up with adv manga
maybe they should give it to tokyopop..they'll finish it for sure >.>

Glad to see more people exposed to the wonder of Yotsuba~

And Kiyohiko Azuma is a man.

hikarub Jun 28, 2006 04:42 AM

I've heard a disturbing rumor (even more disturbing if it's true) that ADV have quietly dropped Yotsuba. Has anyone else heard this? I haven't really paid much attention to ADV Manga before Yostsuba, but I heard the same thing happened to Peacemaker Kurogane as well. Has ADV Manga always been this unreliable?

What are the chances of Yotsuba being picked up by someone else, like Viz or Tokyopop?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true.

It certainly seemed like a promising idea at the time. When ADV, already a proven market leader in anime, announced that it was expanding to become a manga publisher in 2003, the expectation was that the company could carve its own niche, perhaps even making a dent in the sales of Viz and Tokyopop. ADV President and CEO John Ledford told ICv2.com in 2004 that the company had licensed more than 1,000 volumes of manga and Korean manhwa.

Indeed, the company has carved its own niche ... but for all the wrong reasons. Analysis of an animeondvd.com database and Diamond Comics shipping lists shows that out of 79 series the company has announced since 2003, 43 have been canceled outright or put on indefinite hiatus. Another 11 were announced in 2004 but never released.

Was it a case of too much too soon, or a gross overestimation of what the market could bear? We can neither confirm nor deny what exactly happened, and repeated efforts to contact the company were unsuccessful.

For its part, ADV has tried to get back in the good graces of manga fans in recent months, completing "Full Metal Panic" and "Full Metal Panic: Overload," continuing "Chrono Crusade" and "Cromartie High School" and rolling out "angel/dust," "Lagoon Engine Einsatz," "Anne Freaks" and "Evangelion: Angelic Days." But we have to admit we're a bit skeptical.
This is from starbulletin.com

So, they've most likely dropped it.

tsuchiiru Jun 28, 2006 09:32 AM

i've been reading the manga for quite a while now, and it's been easy to like ever since. yotsuba's innocence can make enough humor to supply the series. a must-read, definitely.

map car man words telling me to do things Jun 28, 2006 03:51 PM

I like to think they've forgotten about it for a while and will continue it once they realise the error of their ways. Seriously, what the hell is that crap they churn out while overlooking Yotsuba? Lagoon Engine Einsatz?

Anne Freaks was completely awful, and I don't understand why anyone would waste their time reading, much less commercially releasing it =/

Conan-the-3rd Jun 29, 2006 03:07 AM

Lagoon Engine Einsatz, to be fair is from the doodete that did DNangel.

I hope they'll continue Yotsuba&! - It would be... well... kind of bad if they really dropped it.

Wow - that...that was... my....my first post ;)

greetings,
Steve

(btw. if you're about to think that i am a Slayer [band] fan - youre wrong - my nickname refers to Slayer from GGXX ;) )

Little Shithead Jun 30, 2006 12:12 AM

I just started getting really "in" to reading Yotsuba finally.

I forgot how completely cute it was, then I read chapter 9.

Where is my Yotsuba anime.

eriol33 Jul 6, 2006 11:10 AM

Hahaha, this thread is really informative =). I have been wondering what is the anime series that spread around some people's avatar and siggie in GFF. It turns out to be Yotsuba ^^.

I will download that chapter first... I have high expectation for this series actually, looking for the high appreciations of people here :)

It's one of the few English sources for Yotsubato information. :D I made an account just to express my appreciation for this thread. Yotsuba warms my heart like no other story told.

Muramasa007 Jul 26, 2006 11:58 PM

Hey! Anyone know the translations to chapter 37?

map car man words telling me to do things Jul 27, 2006 03:10 PM

I don't even know the translation to 33, where the hell did you get 33-36? =/

Muramasa007 Jul 27, 2006 05:23 PM

Deadfrog forums search Yotsuba
That's where I got it

coeccias Jul 27, 2006 09:55 PM

But surely the translation of chapter 37 is more than adequate as it is. A great many thanks go to the translator for bringing about audible laughter with such a daring enterprise.

Hatter106 Jul 27, 2006 11:04 PM

Bah. I don't need some random translator thinking he's funnier than Azuma.
Any proper translations of 37 out there?

lemonmanko Jul 28, 2006 02:18 AM

gonna pick of vol 3 just to own all the books that did hit the states but seriously i wish tokyopop got the rights to release the rest i mean.. they release anything even if its trash or not yotsuba should be on top of the list!

map car man words telling me to do things Jul 28, 2006 10:22 AM

This is terrible, I've missed so many chapters even though I tried to look for any news on updates ;_;

Anyway, downloaded the torrent that had 1-37, threw out 1-32 and 37 and uploaded 33-36 to rapidshare for anyone who hasn't read them yet.
Anyone wondering why I threw out 37, you can view a few posts up. Basically, someone thought it would be "hilarious" to write in mock ye olde english and the results were dreadfully unfunny. Please don't waste time with that release and wait for a proper 37 instead.

Updating the first post right after this.

The beach story was absolutely adorable, but I was laughing with tears in my eyes at the recycling chapter. That little cat figurine she uses to calm herself down, the whole idea and execution of the gag was just brilliant ='D

The last chapter was another great one, especially the start.

I foresee a new Yotsuba ava/sig set coming pretty soon. I already have two sigs ready, as a matter of fact.

Shenlon Jul 28, 2006 10:30 AM

Ah thnx quarky for 33-36. After reading the manga I need my daily yatsuba read. I can't wait for another yanda appearence :D

Muramasa007 Jul 28, 2006 07:57 PM

I still hope they have better translations of 37!!!!

Whoever decides to pick it up should probably start from the very beginning. At least that way they can redo and avoid ADV's major cock-up in volume 1 and their silly mistakes with characters' names in volume 3. It's such a disappointment after reading the scanslations, that publishers can make such mistakes. Don't they have someone to proofread?

By the way, I'm seriously missing out here. Better get chapters 33-36 before they disappear!!!
