All Right I'm shifting to shield him then. I'll add it to the post, just making sure you get it by posting here.

I'm going to laugh forever if Pang manages a total party kill on the first encounter.

Given how hard it was to get killed in the DnD games, a single player kill in the first fight would be a turn up for the books.

The unmovable stubborn Aug 7, 2012 06:19 PM

There's a reason that GW chargen basically boils down to "roll on a couple of tables".

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 8, 2012 01:29 AM

If Slim removes himself from harm's way, would it be possible for me to jump into the Bobcat and drive north through E5 and then turn and continue on through D4 and out the door without running over Stonum and what's left of Squeeze in the process?

Of course I'm going to roll another 1 and crash into the wall and then the Bobcat will explode and kill us all, but let's pretend for now that that won't happen.

The unmovable stubborn Aug 8, 2012 02:10 AM

The main body of the Bobcat (sans shovel) is 2x2 blocks, so it'd really have to pass through D5 (where Stonum & Squeeze are) to get out the door.

Suppose you could scoop 'em both up, though. Inasmuch they're both implicitly willing (as the alternative is being splattered) you wouldn't need to roll for that.

nuttyturnip Aug 8, 2012 08:04 AM

Feel free to scoop me up if you need to. I ain't heavy, I'm a ghost cockroach.

i am good at jokes Aug 8, 2012 09:30 AM

Scotty, Scoop me up. Also that way we get to keep all of Squeeze's precious juices in one place. That's gotta count for something.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 8, 2012 04:04 PM

As long as you're comfortable with floating in amorous soup.

Additional Spam:
I just noticed this, but Slim has a +4 init which would put him ahead of the marauders.

nuttyturnip Aug 9, 2012 10:48 AM

Do we have to roll a mechanics check to drive the Bobcat? If we already know how it works (and I think it's running already), then Diss can get to the crushing.

The unmovable stubborn Aug 9, 2012 02:27 PM

Yeah, you guys know how to get the Bobcat running now, you don't need to make a Mechanics check every single time.

(Making a Mechanics check to clean all the pig intestines out of the gears is another thing.)

Alas, the initiative bonus from Slim's Prescient origin is almost entirely offset by his laughably awful Dexterity.

nuttyturnip Aug 9, 2012 03:37 PM

If I were to climb up to the top of the cab the bulldozer that's next to me, would I be out of range of melee attacks? Are the pigs capable of climbing up?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 9, 2012 03:56 PM

Yes. But also yes.

(It's mostly flat surfaces so you won't need a check to climb it or anything.)

Actually, Skittles never needs a check to climb anything ever, does he?

Nope. I was hoping to get myself into a better attack position, but I suppose I'll settle for the ceiling.

i am good at jokes Aug 9, 2012 06:20 PM

Uh, is the inside of the scoop still melee range to the baddies, or can I get my disco-funk-pew-pew-pew lasers on without getting horribly mangled by OAs?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 9, 2012 06:44 PM

If you were in melee range, don't you think I would have, say, melee'd you.

Your grasp of logic astounds me, good sir. :pipe:

Does Gamma World have that +def after using second wind? And if so, would I have then avoided the revolting assault of Master Belch over there? I don't want to Zerg it up or anything, but I don't have a very good knowledge of 4E so I will probably be asking about a lot of stuff.

It does have the defense bonus, but it wasn't enough to stop you from horking up a pound of gravel.

(I'm not going to make any Zerging accusations until I see somebody standing on the other end of the map from everyone else, moving away from the melee at full speed every turn.)

Sousuke Aug 10, 2012 01:13 PM

Also, does Gamma World use Action Points? I haven't seen or heard any mention of them but I've also heard that a lot of people have essentially house-rule'd them in. Do we have those?

i am good at jokes Aug 10, 2012 03:04 PM

Just a note to say that I will be gone to a cottage until Sunday, and from what I understand there will be (oh GOD) NO INTERNET ACCESS. Or maybe there will, but if there isn't, I thought I'd let you know that I won't be able to play my turn or cabal until then.

Well, no. Action Points work in 4E because they're balanced against an "adventuring day": you get more if you keep going, you have incentive to save them for later, etc etc. Gamma World is balanced on the encounter level; if you survive a fight you're more-or-less none the worse for wear afterward (minus busted tech / lost ammo / shitty mutation).

Besides, if I gave you APs then I'd have to give Elite/Solo enemies APs. And those things can one-shot you as it is.

(I do have a houserule combat gimmick I want to include but it slipped my mind when the fight started and I'm not going to introduce it mid-fight.)

Sousuke Aug 10, 2012 09:05 PM

SO MANY QUESTIONS

I don't remember, do you auto-crit when attacking someone prone? Or is there some other bonus? WHAT HAPPENS I NEED TO KNOW SO I CAN FINISH MY POST

HALP
