Are any of you guys still playing Minecraft? I was pretty busy with various things when it was popular at first and I guess I'm kinda tempted to buy it now after looking through all this stuff again.

Also, I like the concept that you can pay to get into the beta and then you won't get the full game when it's released.

I still run a server and I still play online every now and then.

I hope notch gets SMP up to date with single player features so that he can work on getting more cool stuff into the game.

I play Minecraft, but I only really like the survival mode. Since the health and inventory are currently bork in multiplayer, I only play singleplayer. When these things get implemented in multiplayer, I could host my own server or join one of yours.

Health works in multiplayer. Inventory works in multiplayer (well if you don't count the chest exploit).

Thanks for the update. It seems they should have server-side inventory finalized by next week. I'll check back then and maybe jump into the game with others if all is well!

Anyone have a preferred SMP server?

Are you asking about which server software to run a server or a particular server to play on? I've been running a server using MCAdmin for a couple months now. Feel free to hit me up over PM for info on it if you'd like to check it out.

I co-administrate a fairly large Vanilla(ish) SMP server called Project Genesis. We run Craftbukkit and have all of the latest security and anti-grief plugins (Big Brother, LWC, WorldGuard, etc), a huge 10k x 10k map with larger biomes and biome-specific trees generated by TerrainTweaker. We also have several fun and gameplay-enhancing mods, such as Minecart Mania, BlockDrops (custom block drops), and Growbie (grow your own flowers for dyes or decoration). It's a damn fun and friendly place, if I do say so myself. We'd love to have you. :D

Joined and have been testing this SMP server since yesterday. Really nice folks there, but the lag is pretty crippling at times (maybe the server is on the other side of the globe) and they turned mobs on today, making the server mad hardcore with invincible and sometimes invisible mobs due to lag.

My grand project idea is also pretty much dust now that I can't even build without freaks buttraping me at every corner..

But still recommended once they get the lag issues cleared.

Yeah, the other administrator turned mobs off. The server just isn't ready for it at the moment.

I might check out Project Genesis later on. Seems like there's some wicked structures there. Cool.

For now, I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to this game, so I'm sticking to friend communities. Also, in the past month, my roommates have started their own SMP server, so that occupies me most of the time I want to play Minecraft.

I'll also hop into Acer's server again at some point to check out things there. =}

I've been a daily builder on PiccoloNamek's server for a month now. With lag issues resolved, lives as blockmen are good!

Do you guys allow minecarts yet? I really don't get how you guys get around on that huge map. Good lord is it huge.

Yes, we now allow full use of mine carts, and we have Minecart Mania installed to allow specialized blocks to act as boosters, launchers, and ejectors. There are also sign commands and station functions for mine carts included in the plugin.

We'd love to have you on Acer. Boo-Kun and scotty are on all the time, you should join in the fun! :D
