Motsognir is on a roll! A sticky, putrescent, foul-smelling roll.

So basically just like the rolls he used to get back in the mess hall. "If you leave the clanhold now, you can never come back!" they said. Some threat that was.

Viper's Strike: 20 damage (CRITICAL HIT!): Corruption Corpse destroyed.
Death Burst: 5 damage to Motsognir, Brigid

Brigid and Ewan set about gutting the little fishes. They squirm when you pull the bones out, but scientifically speaking they don't really feel pain the way people do.

Righteous Brand: Drowned One at S17 destroyed

Knife: Drowned One at R16 destroyed
Save vs. Weakness successful

With the last corruption corpse blocking the route to Bob, the drowned ones change course and swarm the halfling.

Drowned One Slam x2: 8 damage to Brigid (bloodied)

The intruders to the north reach the last door, and a hulking dog smashes through the door head-first. Three more vicious hounds are close behind him.

:savepoint: Argumentus, Bob, Gabriel, Corruption Corpse, Motsognir, Brigid, Ewan, Drowned Ones, Gravehounds

Bradylama Feb 2, 2009 02:03 AM

Unacceptable! The mess caused by that collision has caused Argumentus to be more outraged than he has ever been in his entire life! His monocle pops with the force of a thousand 'harumphs!' as he moves to grab the attention of more competent servers to clean up his pudding-stained suit.

The dwarf looked up as the door shattered, his faithful hound bristling at the presence of other canines. Two quick clicks of the paladin's tongue and a nod of his head broke the animal's focus and sent the beast hurtling off towards his assigned quarry, rushing headlong past Mots and under a table to finally leap over brigid and sink its fangs into the dripping undead's throat, coming to a sliding halt and snapping its jaws back and forth in feral glee.

Meanwhile, the dwarf crept forward, tightening his grip on his axe's hilt, and grinning with the anticipation of laying into this new batch of enemies.

Goliath to A16 and attack the drowned one not attacked by Arg.
Gabe to X13.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 2, 2009 07:01 AM

As the creature hit me, my magic shield kicked in, reducing the damage significantly. Also, whilst it might have looked like I missed my previous shot, it was actually clever rebound attempt.

Close combat had never been my forte so what with discretion being the better part of valour, I skipped nimbly away from the foul creature and ran away screaming, flicking the switch on my staff to power it up as I went.

SHIELD ACTIVATE, Elven Accuracy on previous shot (Not quite immediately after missing but, you know how it is), shift southeast, run south as far as possible, activate staff of expansion power

When Argumentus is done with this place, not a single member of the Gentlemen's Fencing League will see fit to lunch here again! They shall regret their iniquity!

Cleave: Drowned Ones at T17, S17 destroyed

For a long, strange moment it seemed that Bob had not only missed an easy shot but that he had allowed some ridiculous zombie to punch him in the face. Of course, such absurd things could not possibly happen. With the zombie hounds close behind him, Bob vaults over the bar and makes for the opposite end of the room. Arriving at the window on the south wall, he sees more trouble approaching in the darkness. A dozen shambling corpses approach from the south, led by a nearly skeletal figure in full chain with sword and shield. They'll reach the front door within moments.

Shield: Slam dodged retroactively (9 HP restored)
Elven Accuracy: Yup, killed it
New troops arrive on map after next Gravehound turn
Last wave, I promise.

Gabe continues to keep his distance, letting the faithful hound wear down his foes before he would strike them in earnest.

I assume you meant R16 since A16 is under a giant rock at the other end of the map
Goliath's Bite: Drowned One at S16 destroyed

The last corruption corpse, by some small miracle not destroyed, tries to eliminate the pesky dog.

That dwarf must still have been drunk. Apparently he wanted to get himself caught in the blast when that zombie exploded - and get the short lady and the dog blown up with him. Seeing as there wasn't a lot Ewan could do to stop someone who didn't mind getting blown to bits, he moved to stand near the large one. Ewan probably couldn't take on those dogs by himself and he didn't want to get caught between them and the menacing looking skeleton coming through the front door. He tossed another knife at the dogs before he went, though.

Heedless to the threat of being further slimed, Motsognir does his best to help finish off the corruption corpse before it regenerates again.

Viper's Strike: 6 damage to Corruption Corpse

While logic tells him otherwise, Ewan is not quite able to shake off the ingrained notion that it is wrong to try to stab a puppy. Next time, though, he'll stab the hell out of that puppy. He'll stab twenty puppies. Guard your puppies well, gentlemen.

Knife: Miss

Brigid deals out a wound with her crossbow small enough that the corpse will heal it over nearly immediately! Woo!

Hand Crossbow: 3 damage to Corruption Corpse
Pickin' up the crossbow uses up your minor action: no healing word

The hounds bound into the room, snarling and snapping at anything in their way. Goliath does his best to slow them down, but there are too many. Wounded and whimpering, the mastiff vanishes back into the safety of its figurine.

Bite: miss (Goliath)
Bite: miss (Motsognir)
Bite: 8 damage to Goliath; unsummoned

The zombie captain leads the charge through the inn's front door, waving a longsword most unsteadily. The overwhelming majority of his troops fall heedlessly into Bob's sharpened stakes, but this seems to impede morale not a whit.

8 (8!) Zombie Rotters killed by that frickin' fence. EIGHT! Enjoy your free XP, jerk

I felt the surge of power run up my staff as it's expansion powers built. I was torn between blasting a load over the bitches above me or spraying my hot magic in the direction of the back door where the five newcomers were entering. Gripping the shaft tightly, I chose to take on the new group and leave the others to properly fuck the dogs. Moving sensuously up the room, I aimed my throbbing rod at the group coming in the south entrance before finally feeling the release as wave after wave of magma-hot goo spilled over the group. I shuddered as the magic left me, but still there was some pent up energy left in me. I maintained my solid grasp on my hard pole and cried out and spasmed with relief as a thick gobbet of dark slime shot from the end, catching the biggest of the men full in the face.

Argumentus continues busily destroying the furnishings. Sadly the wait staff appear to have caught on, narrowly dodging the flying chairs.

Chair: miss

Despite having nearly all the rest of his troop wiped out and being doused in all sorts of unpleasantness, the zombie captain seems unfazed. He wipes Bob's slimy effusions away from his chain hauberk with the back of his shield.

Flame Burst: 3 rotters destroyed
Ray of Enfeeblement: 4 damage (necrotic resistance, ho ho)

Seeking revenge for the brutality inflicted on his dog, Gabe does the only rational thing: he attempts to inflict brutality on the nearest available dog. Failing at this, he moves on to the next dog in line. One of these damn things must be brutalizable.

Motsognir was really sick of that last Corruption Corpse. All he could think about was how he didn't like it. He might even hate him. Motsognir stared at the slimy mess for a long time, getting angrier and angrier. A puff of confetti shot out of his chainmail and settled in his beard. His anger melted away. It was like he was thinking about nothing at all. His eyes glazed over, and he lifted up his axe, and he did swing it.

Sick and tired of these goddamn zombies in his goddamn inn, Mots swings his axe at the last corruption corpse hard enough to take its head off. The zombie lurches to the side at the last instant, and Soggy's axe neatly slices the nearest table into two even halves.

A large vein in Motsognir's temple begins to visibly throb.

Brigid stabs the slimy bastard full of holes, but it continues to insolently not die. Somebody doesn't know when they're not wanted, and it's intruding into Brigid's "me time".

While the only surviving rotter shambles forward, the captain darts out of the doorway and jams his pointy phallic object directly into Bob's soft fleshy parts. The zombie's rotting mouth creaks open, and while the fly-swollen tongue and broken jaw slur the words quite a bit it's more than obvious what it's trying to say.

"Come ahh ha a go theh", says the corpse. "Ih yuh thig yuh hahd enuh."

Realising too late that trying to slow down the zombie would have been a better bet than trying to weaken it, I skipped away from it and initiated a tactical retreat.

Shift north, move away north as far as possible

The dwarf held his ground, glancing over his shoulder to see the zombie captain advancing. Sod him. He was dealing with this, first. He would end this hound's pathetic existence. He looked around to his allies, seeing several of them spilling blood to the ground, shaking his head he lifted his axe high above his head and roared a challenge that shook the depths of the hell these monsters crawled out of.

As his axe bit flesh, the dwarf's holy symbol glowed with healing power, ebbing a calming, healing light across his friends. The Paladin was truly in his element when surrounded by the shuffling dead. Kord and his followers never feared the bastard creatures of the night. Finally, slowly circling the wounded beast until he felt the scorched ground beneath his feet.

Bob carefully inches the blade out of his ribcage, delicately stepping away before he runs screaming for the relative safety behind the bar. Discretion is the better part of keeping your guts on the inside of your skin.
