it looks like a giant mutated frog because of the legs.
I liked the movie The Host because it brought the monster genre into the new times sorta speak so I can't wait to see this movie especially because of the concept of the video camera |
I don't know, I watched the five minute reel and my eyes were hurting from all the shaky camera motions. One thing I liked is how it's still kind of filmed like they're filming a normal movie at times. It just kind of seemed like the dude behind the camera was barely there.

LOL I don't know why, but that GIF reminded me of this ol' scene :tpg:
As for the actual movie, I'm hyped for it. Monster movies need to make a comeback ever since they "retired" Godzilla. Perhaps Cloverfield goes beyond the monster as well, with people being "infected" by a certain disease or virus (ala the shadow "monster pops out of woman" scene)? Can't wait. And its coming out in Australia the same time US does :D! |
I found an image online that's supposedly the Cloverfield monster.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...se/monster.jpg How trustworthy are the sources? Not very but it's a neat picture never the less. ALSO: Cloverfield confirmed to be a PG-13 movie. *sigh* |
So it's a stupid whale/penguin hybrid. How is this supposed to be scary.
I'll be in Chinatown eating a bowl of noodles while this idiot invades. |
Invades in a PG-13 style, mind you.

I thought the trailer was very intriguing and loved the camera style. Everything seemed to combine to give it a much more mysterious, frightened, and urgent feel than other monster movies, a stronger feeling that you're actually there in the city with this whatever it is lurking around. I don't usually get hyped for what looks like a monster flick, but I can't wait for this one.
And I don't think that can be the monster. It's been a few months since I've seen it, but I think someone in the trailer said the monster looked like a lion. |

I've been following the discussion on Unfiction, and it seems like there's some connection between Slusho! (a japanese energy drink), something drilled out of the seabed (Sea bed Nector, I think it's called) and the monster. However, I don't think we'll get comprehensive explanation in the movie...

Yeah we covered that a couple pages back.

I was pretty excited for this movie when the internet theorized it was a Cthulu flick.
Now? Not so much. |

I hate to say it, but all of the movies based of Lovecraft stuff...have been utterly fucking terrible. Prove me wrong. |

Oh and on that (now fake) picture showing the monster, I also remebering seeing a line-up of various mutations or growth stages of the Metroid from the Metroid Series, and it looked very similar. I can't find the pic though, maybe someone else can? |

Trust me, the acting alone deserves it's own Lovecraft story. It's fucking scarier than the content it's trying to portray. |

That, or the one where the reanimated guy who died in a boxing match comes back and kills a kid and you don't find out till the end. But now I'm off on another tangent. Quote:

I know Christopher Lee was in one, but dunno if it's any good. EDIT Shitty thing is, I can think of several movies based on Lovecraft stories, but none of them share the same ambience/mood. |
Yeah, that picture was pretty bad ass. I actually liked that monster just because of how err... realistic it is? I mean, it's not something unfathomable altogether. It's just a huge mutated fucking whale who's attacking all these weird looking parasites and strange looking mounds of stone.
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD *CHOMP* |
Now that you mention it, the whole thing ALSO looked like a mutated Whale.
|
Are you guys that desperate to put a face onto the monster that you'll actually start believing that it looks like something that it isn't?
I mean, burn me at the stake if it does happen to be a giant, mutated whale, but seriously people...look at the .gif on the last page. That thing is way too vertical and slender to even be considered a whale... The shoulderblades on it's back, perhaps wings or whatnot...it isn't no whale. I'm as psyched to find out what this beast is as much as the next person in this thread...but you know what, ten to one odds say that we won't even SEE the damn thing in it's full glory at all in the film. Perhaps a face, or a tail, or a leg...but never the whole thing. |
Now who's with me that we actually won't see the monster in a clear shot AT ALL in the movie? :D
I mean... He did it with Lost just as well... *_* |
