the only card game like that on gamecube I can think of is Baten Kaitos and I don't remember seeing her in the original so I will say Baten Kaitos: Origins but still I'm not so sure... (that screen shot look more like a action game then an rpg...

NOOOO I knew that game and it was one of my favourites! LK1, since you're using the princess and not the thief. I loved LK 1 over LK 2, they need to make a third for Wii one day.

I always thought this was an obscure game even after I got it from Ebay, but it's not after I saw it en masse in a bargain bin.

Yeah, it was LK1.

That's because it is a real-time action RPG. I knew it wasn't exactly popular, but I didn't think of it as being particularly obscure, either. It seems like the phrase "card game" scares people away more than it should, whether or not it's really much like an actual card game.

That is Tomba, if I am not mistaken. I never played the game myself, but I remember all the advertisements that ran right when it was coming out.

Yep, it is Tomba! It was really the only screenshot I could find that didn't have his trademark pink hair waving all over the place. But then I noticed the icon on the bottom still had it.
