Well, I'm gonna go hit the sack. Hopefully by the time I wake up there should be some solid info we can sink our teeth into. Night, all.

I hate you Infernal for forcing me up a while longer to watch this...

Lukage Sep 14, 2006 01:33 AM

:25PM: 16 games will be available on launch day from 10 different publishers. Cost of the games will be as reported earlier, 4,800 to 6,800 Yen. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be a full price game at 6,800 Yen.

Here's an idea: http://wii.ign.com/articles/709/709258p1.html

Metal Sphere Sep 14, 2006 01:39 AM

Damn, that was fantastic. I'll talk about it later, but that knight in TP was loaded with detail.

Wall Feces Sep 14, 2006 01:40 AM

That was a very nice video. All these games look so damn fun it's mindblowing. I imagine there will be a different video shown in the US tomorrow.

Is it just me or is LINK RIDING A FREAKIN' FLYING THING in that new Wii video?!?!?!?!?!

Solis Sep 14, 2006 01:48 AM

Well, what a...quirky set of games. I'll have to wait and see which are worthwhile, a lot seem like kind of throwaway budget games (which I guess wouldn't be bad if the Wii sees some cheap titles). Still a few interesting ones that stood out, also a few seconds of Resident Evil were shown (unfortunately it looked like it was just CG or tech demo footage and didn't show any actual gameplay at all, just a pan of a few backgrounds).

Also:

http://wii.com/jp/

Looks like there are room/channels from that picture, maybe something like an online lobby? It also shows the "avatar making" process for your character (used for games like Wii Sports). Also, I'm sure that wrist strap will come in handy when you try to chuck your controller like a grenade.

No, Sadness supposedly is in black and white and has no on-screen menus, neither of which describe that game.

The Extremist Sep 14, 2006 01:50 AM

The VC info sounds pretty good :)

I suppose that's it for updates until the US event.

Wall Feces Sep 14, 2006 01:52 AM

That's an awesome, AWESOME list of devs for the Virtual Console. I think they just kicked the bejesus out of Live Arcade with that.

Japanese packaging (I don't know why I'm pointing that out because it's a box with Wii on it so)

This comes standard in Wii's start up menue?! If so then that's GREAT! I love all those extra little options! Awsome presentation there!

And that's one slick packaging box.

Nintendonomicon Sep 14, 2006 02:15 AM

Is the event over yet?

It's been one hell of a ride!

Burp Sep 14, 2006 02:23 AM

I know that nobody will understand me but...

THANKS COMPILE HEART FOR KOUKOU PUZZLE TAKORON.

And about the price, i cant understand why too much people in IGN/Gamespot are saying that the price is too expensive, you guys really need to see the reality of console prices outside the US... the 360 on Chile (my country) cost about 660 US dollars with almost nothing, i dont really want to think about how will cost the PS3 here... so at least im sure that i will buy the Wii here.

Wii Sports seems too "tech demo" for me, Tennis and Golf are really interesting, but the others game doesnt interest me too much. Still... this is more a good news from Nintendo than a bad.

Also, about the prices of the VC... the prices of N64 games at least are really good... i mean, i dont care too much for the classics titles because i own it almost all on a real N64, but sure the "hard to find" on that price is really good... also, if all the rumors are true... SIN & PUNISHMENT FOR $10?? Im in.

Soldier Sep 14, 2006 02:51 AM

We're saying it's too expensive because EA claimed the price would be $170. Sure, $250 is still more than half the PS3's price, but it's still a bit of a letdown.

We're still lacking the complete facts, especially on the release date, but based on the current news there's good and bad news all around.

Price

The good: It's cheap

The bad: Not as cheap as EA claimed.

Game

The good: Comes with a free game.

The bad: Doesn't sound to be a very long game (online play would make up for it, though)

Remote

The good: Extra remote is cheap.

The bad: Nunchuck must be bought seperately.

more bad: Batteries!? I thought the remote was re-chargable. :(

Virtual Console

The good: Wide selection from the start, more coming from big name developers (square you say?)

The bad: The prices. $5 for NES games, $8 for SNES, and $10 for N64? You can buy most of the actual games for less. Heck you can download them for free using the most basic emulator you can find. I liked my idea that for every purchase of a Wii game you're entitled to a free download relating to that series (ie buy Mario Galaxy, get a free download of 3 or so Mario games).

What would help justify the price is if they added some good bonus content with each game, like artwork, commercials, and such.

Release Date

The good: uh, it's this year?

The bad: It'll really suck if it's in December, but it's still a bit of a letdown if it's November. It was heavily rumored for a while that we'd get it in October, but instead we'll have to wait slightly longer for it than the PS3.

Anyway, as it currently stands, I'm undecided on what I'll be getting first, the Wii or PS3. I guess TGS will be the deciding factor, but that won't stop me from enjoying the newest info.

EDIT:

Metal Slug Anthology

Publisher: SNK Playmore
Developer: SNK Playmore
Players: 2
Play Style: Unknown
Genre: Action Compilation

Description: Another mysterious announcement, Metal Slug Anthology has been confirmed as a launch title for Wii as well. Little information has been released about this classic compilation, but we do know it will offer the five main Metal Slug titles (Metal Slug - Metal Slug 5) in one package. SNK tells us that the arcade classics have been revamped to use the Wii-mote. It's possible that you'll be able to gesture a flick of the controller to toss a grenade. In all honesty, it doesn't really matter how much new generation control Metal Slug decides to incorporate, as we're simply overjoyed that such an awesome compilation of arcade goodness will be hitting Wii at launch. Classic.
This is one occasion where I can encourage as many ports as possible. Just imagine the possibilities.

Burp Sep 14, 2006 03:10 AM

N64 emulators doesnt make justice to all N64 games, specially with S&P and some other games.

Anyway, i hope that Nintendo change his mind and release at least a Wii pack without the Wii Sports for a less price... but i dont know how "much less" that can be.

Technophile Sep 14, 2006 03:21 AM

Wii's NY event hasn't happened yet. So, (despite all the premature "confirmations") as far as I'm concerned, the U.S. price and release date aren't set in stone yet.

Even though it probebly won't happen, this is what I'd idealy like:

- Wii for $199.99
- Released in early November
--Package includes:
---WiiSports
---2 Wiimotes and nunchukus
---Voucher for one or two free VC downloads
---Horizontal stand/Sensor bar/all needed cables

Considering what they revealed in the Japanese show, the actual plan's probebly far, far off from the set up I suggested. Oh well, it's nice to dream I guess :(

The B0mb Sep 14, 2006 03:34 AM

I'm still waiting for Audio. Some interview on IGN awhile back said the Wii would support Harddrives but they had no comment on if nintendo would make a HD. It seems it can store photos and video. Hopefully it supports some audio too.(Best part of the Xbox is custom Soundtracks). But I guess if it had it they would have said something eh?

Taisai Sep 14, 2006 04:11 AM

It's shocking Nintendo featured Matsuno in the presentaion.
I bet he ain't suited for this console at all, though.

chaofan Sep 14, 2006 05:35 AM

Phew, after all that catching up with reading and all, all I can say is

Trailer- WTFWOW!
Price and Date- ??? (Still confused, but I mostly get it)
Games- MUST Fn PLAY NOW
VC- Cool... But ne
Other features- WTFWHOA?!

All they gotta do is confirm when it's coming over here (Aussieland) and then I'll be sold. $250 US? Still pretty good for me considering I'm one week away from having saved that much (around $399 AUS). W00t!

Malmer Sep 14, 2006 05:59 AM

While I love most of it, someone please tell me this is the Japanese release list only:

Quote:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Wii Sports (including boxing and bowling to round out tennis, golf, and baseball)
  • WarioWare
  • Wii Play
  • Red Steel
  • SD Gundam Revolution
  • Tamagotchi
  • Ennichi no Tastsujin (a drum game, along the lines of Taiko Drum Master)
  • Trauma Center: Second Opinion
  • Elebits
  • Necro-nesia
  • Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
  • Super Swing Golf Pangya
  • Wing Island (demoed at E3 2006, the "plane game")
  • Kororinpa (a Marble Madness-type game of some sort)
  • Machariku Domino (a domino game)

Sausage.
They'll be getting no Raving Rabbits, or the chance to roam around with big damn trucks?

Well, put Wii Play on my Must Have List for release! Duckhaaaawnd!

watkinzez Sep 14, 2006 06:40 AM

Japan only. Metroid is missing, which is expected for that territory. Looking forward to Rayman too, poor Japs.

Acro-nym Sep 14, 2006 07:20 AM

Although all of this information is nice to read, how much of the stuff listed in the first post is fact?

Omnislash124 Sep 14, 2006 07:35 AM

Holy shit, the thing can watch the news too? Man, the only thing left is to cook me breakfast, and I'd be set with living all my life in my living room.
