I'd laugh if the National Championship game goes between Michigan and Ohio State, and Michigan pulls out a win in that game. Of course, I'd also love to see those two teams in the national championship game more than any others. It was a close game between the two of them anyways, so a rematch could go either way.

Plainsman Nov 22, 2006 01:14 PM

It won't happen. USC is going to win their last two and that will get them the nod over Michigan.

In my opinion, if you don't win your conference you shouldn't be playing for a national championship. Tough for Michigan, but that's the way it should be.

Good to see another Auburn fan on here, Russ. I felt the same way, this team was over-rated by the media because of Kenny Irons and what happened in 2004. We were an above average team that had to fight and scrape to get everything we got. Looking back, the wins over LSU and Florida are pretty amazing considering. The 2004 Auburn team would have beaten this team by 3-4 touchdowns.

Trigunnerz Nov 25, 2006 12:14 AM

USC v Notre Dame! What a great game tomorrow will be! Tomorrow's game will determine whether or not we're going to the Pasadena or Glendale, AZ. One of college's greatest rivalries.

Fight on! And beat the Irish!

I am going to get retarded now!

xman25 Nov 25, 2006 08:45 PM

USC just scored it's second touchdown of the first quarter. As much as I hate to say this, I think Notre Dame is going to lose. I just hope Notre Dame doesn't embarass itself.

Notre Dame got fucked over~!

Goodbye Brady Quinn! Hello Glendale, Arizona!

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Nov 26, 2006 02:18 AM

Is Trigunnerz really grating, or is it just me? I mean, it's not like I'm pissed Notre Dame lost or anything, he just annoys me. Weird.

xman25 Nov 26, 2006 03:57 AM

I'm leaning toward grating. Maybe 'sore winner' applies. I don't know how Notre Dame got "fucked over" as Trigunnerz so eloquently put it. Were there some bad calls by the officials that I missed? Anyway, I hope Notre Dame stays in the top eight in the BCS poll so that they can go to a BCS Bowl game. They were number five in the poll coming into the game, but losing by 20 points is going to hurt.

Trigunnerz Nov 26, 2006 01:53 PM

My bad. It's a huge rivalry game you know. I think a little trash talking is allowed. =)

But ya, doesn't Notre Dame need to be in the top 8 to be guaranteed a bowl game? I guess Brady Quinn's Heisman candidacy got blown to pieces. You think Troy Smith will get it now?

xman25 Nov 26, 2006 05:01 PM

From what I understand if Notre Dame is in the top eight they are guaranteed a BCS game.

I'm hoping Notre Dame gets a BCS nod anyway, despite not having it by default. They're good enough with their 2 or 3 amazing theatrical plays per game to make a real spectacle. Don't know if it'll happen, though - there'll probably have to be some shaking up at the top of the pile again next week if they're gonna have much of a chance.

In other news, I think BYU got shafted in the rankings again. Not by much - our schedule hasn't warranted too much in terms of rankings, but we've done pretty well, we're running on an 8 or 9 game winning streak (I can't remember which), and John Beck is one of the highest ranked quarterbacks in the nation. We swept our conference (not too horribly hard, but TCU and Utah have both had decent seasons), and yet we play the 4th or 5th ranked PAC-10 team in the Las Vegas Bowl. Oh, well. The end of the BYU-Utah game was beyond classic, at least. Can't beat an ending like that.

UPSET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unranked UCLA beat #2 USC 13-9. Goodbye championship game!!!!!!! It was a great game. UCLA played their hearts out. I'm very happy. HA!!! Am I grating Trigunnerz?

Crossing my fingers for a Michigan - OSU rematch!

Arainach Dec 2, 2006 10:50 PM

BEST Scenario: Wolverines get to go to the championship game, but their plane crashes, killing all aboard.

Second Best Scenario: The BCS Computers bump Florida up to #2.

BlueMikey Dec 2, 2006 11:03 PM

Florida convinced me tonight that they belong in the championship. Michigan may be better, but they couldn't win their conference, Florida did. If Michigan was a lot better, sure, but Florida is just behind, if at all.

Big East championship going to overtime, should be a fun finish.

Haha, ESPN was panning the crowd and they showed for a few seconds a kid wearing a shirt that said "West Fuckin' Virginia" pretty prominently.

Arainach Dec 2, 2006 11:32 PM

BlueMikey, they couldn't win their conference because the National Champ is in their conference. And they only lost to them by 3 points. On the road.

Wait, why am I defending the school that I hate with all my soul?

BlueMikey Dec 2, 2006 11:44 PM

Yeah, but that's the thing. They did lose to them. In their last game even. If we already know that Michigan can't beat OSU, then we don't need to see it again.

(Yes, the margin was 3 points, but in the 4th quarter, Michigan didn't really have much of a chance. Just a 3-and-out when they had a chance to take the lead.)

Because you want to see Ohio State beat them again. Why lie.

I'd actually bet that Michigan beats OSU if they play again. I think Michigan is a better team and wins on the neutral field.

BlueMikey Dec 3, 2006 12:14 AM

Possibly. But let's say the game was at Michigan and Michigan won by 3. Would OSU deserve another shot then? I mean, we can guess at a lot of things in college football, but, at the end of the day, if you don't win your conference, you shouldn't get to play in the championship (or you should have to go through a playoff system like we should have).

I saw that and laughed.

Triple overtime, great game to watch. Shame for Rutgers, but great job by West Virginia this season.

Trigunnerz Dec 3, 2006 12:47 AM

FUCK! I can't believe we lost to UCLA. ;AKDSJ;ALDKFJA;LKJE Our defense did well, but our offense just sucked. We turned over the ball way too many times.

At least we're going to the Rose Bowl. Off to Pasadena again.

Our team did extremely well this season considering we lost two Heisman trophy winners and a lot of our veterans went off to the NFL.

And xman25, at least we beat the living shit out of Notre Dame.

At least Notre Dame's two losses did not come against two unranked teams. :edgartpg:

Trigunnerz Dec 3, 2006 01:51 AM

LOL. Touché. But UCLA was a rivalry game, and all rivalry games end up crazy. It hurts to lose to them. I have no idea what happened at Oregon though.

Both of us can go on forever, so we should probably stop. =)

So who the hell is rank #2 now? Michigan? Florida? WVU?

Lord Styphon Dec 3, 2006 01:53 AM

We'll find out tomorrow. Just as Notre Dame will find out if it gets to go to a BCS bowl tomorrow.

USC doesn't need to worry about that, though.
