Isn't Argumentus still taking acid damage? I thought combat rounds continued as long as damage was being taken. Because hey, he could still die if he fails enough saves.

I can't really find a straight answer one way or the other in the books, and the extraordinary unlikelihood of 5 damage/turn being more than a nuisance to Argumentus isn't worth the bookkeeping.

Ah, ok then. Maybe it's just my DM's take on it.

The reason I brought it up is because it almost happened to my character. I had failed about 13 poison saves during the battle, and had just about expended my entire party's healing abilities when I finally ended the ongoing damage.

Yes, but that means it's intended to be a solo boss monster for a party of level 4 characters. If taken on at that level, you'd have an extra encounter power, all your defenses and attack rolls would be a point higher due to the 1/2 level bonus, and each of you would have an extra 2 stat points added to your character, meaning you could have higher modifiers if you put them on stats that are currently odd-numbered.
