I just read through this entire thread. Wow. Anyhow, I'm super excited for this game and I'm still hoping Ness and Marth will return.. I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan for one thing, and Marth was always my best character. Actually, the only character that I used frequently in Melee that has been announced for Brawl is Kirby. I guess Lucas probably plays similarly to Ness but it won't be the same if they don't bring him back..

Naaaahh.... Five levels PER character, probably with increasing difficulty for each level cleared.

Sakurai wouldn't botch it up that bad. Besides it also reads:

Assuming that there is only five levels for the whole game, I doubt he would say that "'some levels' have items" if only two or three did; he would say "a few".

It HAS to be 5 levels/character.

Unfortunately, from what it looks like right now, they're going with the Mother 3 theme this time around. It'd be nice to see Ness or some other Earthbound characters/levels, but I'm not holding my breath.

(They even added a level called New Pork City....no offense, but how are North American gamers supposed to know anything about Mother 3 since it was only released in Japan?)

That IS the easiest solution! Or well, I'm just hoping that they finish the fan translation before SSBB comes out. Or at least around the same time, as I'm sure I won't be getting the game immediately.

He's basically just a stronger harder to knockback kirby...I dunno I thought they said they weren't going to have any clones. Who knows maybe he will play a bit different but lets see...

DDD uses his hammer so does kirby
and im assuming DDD will be able to swallow like he does in his games
DDD has a ground pound type move as well

I'd rather have a totally new char.........like megaman

I'd like to point out that Brawl's roster (23) is about to eclipse Melee's (26) with still 4 months until the game's release, and there's a swath of characters from Melee that haven't been confirmed or dismissed for Brawl:

I put stars next to the characters I expect 100% to be back, though they could include all of them and shut me up. I find it difficult to believe that they'll have more than, say, 40 characters when they have introduced a lot of new ones. I'll be happily surprised if they put more in.

I'm expecting Falcon, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff, Luigi, G&W and Ness to be back. Falco maybe, I dunno. I thought there was a crackdown on clone characters? I'm sure Ganondorf's going to be totally redone, Falco likewise if he's in again.

The same could be asked about Marth and Roy's inclusion in SSBM. The Fire Emblem series was Japan-only at the time of Melee's release and then it started coming to America a year or two later.

Considering this fact, there's a chance that Mother 3 might make its arrival in the US after all.

I really don't see them as all that similar. Kirby can fly, Dedede can't. Kirby can swallow the enemies he sucks up, Dedede (as much as I've seen) can't. I imagine Dedede's hammer will be more prominent in the moves than in Kirby's. Dedede should be significantly more durable. Kirby should be versatile.

I don't see them as clone characters at all.
