Well this is no where near as "ground breaking" as your early-bird copies, but I finally got to take a look at the tin collectors case today. Very nice stuff. Of course everyone else probably has already looked at it and opened it already =/.

As most of you know already I did finish JAP version first with full translation that was posted in translation thread of FF XII. In USA version I'm visiting every corner, talking with every NPC and doing anything I can to discover all that I missed in JAP version =D.

Game simply ROX and everyone know it, graphic, music, system etc. One thing that piss me off is Fran voice... I can't stand it after playing JAP version. It's just unfair!!

It was a lot more mature in JAP =/ Test it HERE or HERE.

Ugh, no 60Hz option once again. Maybe someone should tell UbiSoft that it's not 1997 anymore. :( I guess optimised 50Hz is okay though, no gigantic FFX style borders that made the whole game look like an elephant had sat on it.

Isn't that why there's voices? Or does non-voiced text use the same font?

Any source for that? No 60hz option sucks indeed, optimised 50hz always has these nasty vertical synching problems. And that seperate French audio is technically impossible on the same disc, because the DVD is pretty much filled to the brim already. They might release a second disc or make it dual layer, though.

Infernal Monkey Oct 7, 2006 05:50 AM

Yeah, it's up on Ubisoft's French site now. Broken Google translation ahoy!

I believe they're available now in Japan or at least due out soon.

Non-voiced text does use the same font, yes. Maybe it's just me, but I really find it distracting.

Gechmir Oct 7, 2006 10:11 AM

Feh. Wish they'd include a JP track. English dubs never live up to the original voice job =( Guess the game would be too big for one DVD...

Um, but the difference is that this English dub is freaking amazing.

I heard that the Japanese dub was rather dull, actually.

The smallcaps font did get my attention, but I don't really mind. But it would be a lot easier to read if they just utilized a normal font, like what they used in FFX/X2.

No shit man, the dub on this one is probably the best FF dub I heard. And props to them for making the main character's voice a lot less gayer than he looks (unlike Tidus).

So have you guys managed to get any news/preorders for the FFXII LE guide yet? While visiting an EB yesterday I asked whether they have any SKUs or news for it, and still they say no, considering the "release day" of the guide itself is October 20th, according to the website.

It's a secret to everyone.

I'm not sure, really. I keep hearing various rumors from all over about it. That it comes with a 100+ page art book, that both strategy guide and artbook are bundled in a leather cover or something. I hope they release info about it some time before it makes its visable way into stores. I usually don't buy strategy guides... but if it does come with a sizable artbook, consider me very sold. Unless a bigger one is put on sale in Japan or somesuch.

Spatula Oct 7, 2006 12:54 PM

I know of two main "guides" - namely the Battle Ultimania and Scenario Ultimania, each about $15-20 in Japan.

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 02:44 PM

I continue hoping that those figures will be out in time for the NA release. I would absolutely love to pick up the game on the 31st along with one of those figures. Even Vaan looks much better now, but I still want to make the Judge my first purchase, followed by Balthier.

Speaking of the Judges, are they living up to the hype as much as Balthier is? Matsuno created some awesome villains in FFT and Vagrant Story, and I'm hoping the trend continues with these guys.

Not gonna happen. You should know that Kotobukiya would basically just cater for the Japanese market, and any figures coming state side would not make it for the 31st, despite the game being released months prior in Japan. Furthermore, I don't think they'd align the release date of the toys along side the release date of the American FFXII, so. You could get them by the time XIII comes out :tpg:.

Also, 200th personal post in this thread get!

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 04:12 PM

Yeah, I know it's not very likely they would reach NA by the game's release. I suppose I could import them, but I have a feeling online stores are going to charge a stupid amount, given the quality and newness of the figures.

I'm hearing a lot of impressions comparing the game's story to Star Wars, right down to the character types (Vaan=Luke, Balthier=Han, Ashe=Leia, Fran=Chewie). Honestly, I don't find that encouraging. I was hoping FFXII's story would be something mostly original, or at least more rooted in LOTR than SW. It's going to be a disappointment if they insist on copying Star Wars' classic but tired elements without attempting something new to the story.

Yesasia selling Squall figure for $45 CDN. God >_>

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 04:49 PM

See? I got that figure from my last convention for an even $20. Not sure if I can wait for another convention to get the FFXII ones, though.

Spatula Oct 7, 2006 06:00 PM

I've seen the Advent children ones selling for $20 USD at various EB/Gamestops, however they don't have the same marketing going on here. This was in NYC last September 2005, if I remember. But I'm not all that for any AC figs, besides Clouds Fenrir which sells at Toys R Us for $70 CDN. Can we say Ripoff?

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 06:05 PM

I still haven't bought Cloud, as I keep holding out for a price drop for the Fenrir pack. That probably won't happen, though, so I just need to decide if that snazzy bike is worth the extra cash, or just buy Cloud now before he goes out of print.

Spatula Oct 7, 2006 06:07 PM

SOLDIER, you may fap over stay updated with Kotobukiya's toy releases on this site.

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 06:12 PM

Man, that Kefka is freaky looking, much freakier than he looked in the game. The KH figures are due real soon, too. Hope they all remain within the $20 price line. No date for the FFXII figures. Looks like they might not even hit NA this year. :tpg:

That Trading Arts Tifa is horrible. And here I thought I suppressed it from memory. ; ;

Spatula Oct 7, 2006 06:18 PM

I'll have a look at the Japanese Kotobukiya site, since this is information for the NA releases. Also, I really can't care less for gasphon, I don't like the whole idea of trading with friends with puny tiny things. If I have a figure of something, I prefer for it to be reasonably big and have details that make it display case worthy SEE: models and 1/6 figures.
