My favorite thing to do is play as Pikachu and use his down-B nonstop. I've gotten so many WTF kills where I know I'm going to fall to my death, so I try to just place myself underneath two people that are battling and zap both with lightning. :forscience:

It's just not smash without Falcon's indiscriminate raping. Sex, age, species. He doesn't care.
He better come back for Brawl.

The_Griffin Oct 23, 2007 03:45 PM

Fuck you all for forgetting about Luigi.

I'm actually disturbingly good with him. Not tourney level, but I'd say he's my best. And beating the shit out of somebody with a karate chop is always fun. >=3

I'd have to agree with Starman though, Battlefield would be the most fair, but that doesn't stop it from being horribly uninteresting and the same goes for Final Destination. I am definately under the belief that better players are those who play with more variables and can act and adapt accordingly.

I agree with you, I mean I also say "If you really know how to playSmash then it must be with items and a random level" the more variables there are the better. With items you have to keep an eye on the opponent and the possible explosive items. You just see how "good and awesome" tourney guys are when they get KOd so fast with items and a dynamic level.

I always liked characters capable of doing a hit and run strategy. Pikachu, Falcon in the 64 version (his moves felt too smooth in Melee), and to a point Roy. Sonic and Diddy Kong look the best for my strategies, so I can't wait to play them.

Also who else thinks we need more females in Brawl? I vote for Micaiah from FE.

Kanzaki Oct 23, 2007 09:57 PM

Yeah! more girls in Brawl, I was hoping for Lyn, but well, there are many more girls.

Spoiler:
And after watching the subspace emissary intros in gametrailers, I suppose that Bowser, Meta-Knight and Wario (and Ganondorf and Mewtwo if they are back) are the bad guys that joined with the Subspace army to conquer the world, and I like how all the good guys are now trying to reach Meta-Knight's ship. Can't wait for it.

immp Oct 24, 2007 01:41 AM

Although I'm sure since it seems to be the trend with nintendo titles lately, they'll end up turning on the subspace doods so you can play as them.

Agreed, though I think Krystal has better chances of showing up in the game.

immp Oct 24, 2007 02:06 AM

oh god I hope we can export the replays.

gamersara Oct 24, 2007 02:11 AM

Micaiah would be too damn slow(refering to FE:RD), although it would be so easy to just use her RD 3D model...
Krystal sound like a good idea, I'd love to see her blue furry tail again <3

Cheezeman3000 Oct 24, 2007 02:29 AM

It looks like you can put the replays on the SD cards....

You can record about three minutes worth of replay data.
Translation:

Crap, we wish it allowed external storage so you could record more than 3 minutes of your game, because that 3 minutes worth of footage is all the internal memory can take.

Kanzaki Oct 24, 2007 07:27 AM

3 Minutes is enough to take out one player :P but it would be nice if it was a little longer

Krelian Oct 24, 2007 08:11 AM

"It’s a mode that challenges you to break ten targets within a given time limit – basically, a game for those who salivate at the thought of speed runs."

I've never known another game designer to be quite so in touch with his target audience.

FatsDomino Oct 24, 2007 08:13 AM

The replay feature is nice but not a good enough feature. If Halo 3 can record entire campaign runs then Brawl should be able to record the length of at the very least 20 minutes as I play five life battles as standard and those can last a while sometimes. I hope if they ever do release an external harddrive that they release some sort of patch to enhance this feature. These replays better be interactive with a camera. I'm just a little disappointed.

Also, I'm going to miss character-specific break the target levels. :(

Krelian Oct 24, 2007 08:31 AM

I'd be extremely surprised if the replays are actually encoded as a video. But surely if they're just in-engine replays a la Halo 3, they can fit hundreds of those on the Wii's onboard flash?

Games made six years ago had better replay systems than this. Come on.

FatsDomino Oct 24, 2007 08:34 AM

I will be PISSED if they save these replays in flash or some video format. That would be a huge reason why they'd be only 3 minutes in length. Have the game render the code. It opens up a whole bunch of better possibilities. Code is much more efficient than encoded video. I will be SUPER PISSED if it isn't code.

So would that throw you away from buying the game?

Infernal Monkey Oct 24, 2007 08:57 AM

I hope it has the option of recording them upsidedown. You could be all like "check out my sweet standard Mario punch animation directed at Fox, bro, it's better than your face" and they'd be all "no way nuh uuuuhhhhhhhh" and have to watch it while balancing on their head. Then their face would explode and Yuji Naka would pump his fist in the air! "Gumbazzo the Giraffe for all!"

Monkey King Oct 24, 2007 11:49 AM

Counterpoint: The Wii probably doesn't have as much RAM as the XBox 360. That, or the game doesn't leave much space leftover in memory, or streaming data to the flash memory interrupts gameplay. Not that it makes anyone less of a sad panda, but there's probably a legitimate reason for it. Maybe it's something they can work on between now and February.

Hell no. It would just be a really stupid way to do the feature and I'd be pissed that they'd decide to do something so stupid. I'm not buying the game for recording matches. All I want is that if they're going to put something in the game that it's the best it can be. I don't really see 3 minutes as that and I CERTAINLY do not see 3 minute encoded movies as that.

Only thing though is that previous games have done that in the past actually. And it's more towards the "30 seconds of saved replay".

Game such as Burnout Revenge, Skate, etc.

Agreed, those were always fun. Now with there being only 5 Break the target levels, you'll probably have to complete all of them with x amount of characters to unlock somebody.

It was cool with the character specific ones because they were made for the character's abilities and you had to figure them out. I think the hardest one I played was Yoshi's N64 version.

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Oct 24, 2007 09:31 PM

Yo, Acer, where are you reading that the break the targets WONT be character specific? It doesn't exactly say that, just that you can take on five levels of difficulty with your favorite character, so don't lose hope :P

FatsDomino Oct 24, 2007 10:27 PM

It does say that. It could be there are only five levels like I'm reading it or five levels per character which would be fucking awesome.
