Not working? Sounds like the situation I was in where anything short of turning off the router's wireless security features would give me a connection error.

Here's my friend code and name: Luis 4854-3804-5821

I won't be going anywhere any time soon, so you won't be left hanging.

If you still need a hand with this later, I could do with upgrading my Kadabra.

Yeah, I still have to evolve Haunter, amongst other things. I posted my friend code info a few posts up, so once I get yours we should be good to go.

Ah, almost forgot. You want some adamant Meditite with Psycho Cut, Psychic and Shadow Ball on them?
Also, which ability is better for Croagunk? Dry Skin sounds like ass, giving it yet another weakness even if it makes water attacks restorative.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 7, 2007 08:49 PM

Anticipation isn't exactly fantastic, either.

Also, Dry Skin just heals its HP. It doesn't affect Water-type moves used against it. Fire-type is also stronger, so it isn't that good unless you're running a Rain Dance team.

Gah, then Anticipation it is. Seems like the better one of those two, even though I can kind of imagine what pokemon I'd put in a team that took advantage of Rain Dance.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 7, 2007 11:47 PM

Anticipation does have its uses, just not very often.

Rain Dance teams seem to be much more effective in this generation than the last. Lots of weird traits and moves that take advantage of it, and Manaphy gets to abuse the hell out of it. There's even been talk of moving Manaphy into the Uber category, which would be the first non-Mew, base total 600 in that tier.

I thought Water-type moves did work with that... The last time I tried surfing against a Toxicroak, he absorbed it. <_<

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 8, 2007 03:31 AM

I haven't seen it personally in the game, but I haven't read anything that indicates Water attacks are changed in any way by Dry Skin. Just that Fire attacks do more damage to Dry Skin pokemon during Sunny Day (in addition to the boost it already gets from Sunny Day itself).

Kairyu Aug 8, 2007 04:46 AM

You're both right =o.
Toxicroak's Dry Skin ability allows it to absorb water attacks but gains a 2x weakness to fire attacks. If sunny day is in effect Toxicroak will lose some HP per turn (1/16th I'm guessing.) Opposite goes for rain dance, of course.

Wow, that definitely sounds much better than I imagined it. Anticipation isn't too bad now that I think about it, since if the computer has a pokemon with a psychic or ground type move, I can just switch to my Honchkrow or something.

Would leftovers stack with the healing from Dry Skin?

Yeah, of course! I think using Leftovers is the recommended choice if you're planning to have him run around during a rain dance. Life Orb can work too if you intend on having a more offensive Toxicroak.

Oh damn, that's nice. Kind of like having a pokemon with leftovers using Aqua Ring.

Got it. Want a modest Feebas? Don't know much about IVs, but it's got Water Pulse and Rain Dance. It'll have to do until I go and level Kingdra to 57 for Dragon Pulse.

Chaotic Aug 8, 2007 12:31 PM

If you want to, Sphere, I could give you the TM to save you some time.

Me = Cheater.

So I have a billion of every TM in the game.

Wow, that'd be great. There's a ton of TMs I've been dying to use, but since there's only one of them I'm kind of wary of (along with some I don't even have yet or are a pain to obtain).

You want anything in return for them?

Chaotic Aug 8, 2007 12:44 PM

Nothing in particular, just PM me with a list of TMs you want.

I'll catch dumpers accordingly also. Then we'll see what time we can meet up online.

Oh, ok. BTW, I keep getting some 'Friend Code is Wrong" message, unless the FC in your sig isn't actually valid.

Or I'm doing something wrong, but Shin's registered with a problem

Chaotic Aug 8, 2007 01:39 PM

Oh shit.

It's 1031, not 1301... Time for some editing!

Alright, time to try it out. I've got a bit of trouble though I don't know why. I've got a female modest Feebas with an everstone breeding but all I'm getting is everything other than Modest. I know it increases the chances of the offspring having the mother's nature by 50%, but if that was the case, I'd have more than just one Feebas with that nature by now.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Aug 9, 2007 07:49 AM

A Feebas would certainly be handy. What sort of times are you normally online? I'm probably between 5 and 7 hours ahead of you but I stay up pretty late as a rule... :)

Yeah, you get to avoid the fishing deal entirely. Unfortunately, I'm horrible at the poffin making crap, so I made sure to save before feeding it the dry poffins. Last time I tried maxing out beauty I wound up with a Feebas with high beauty, basically worthless aside from breeding purposes.

You can pick the time, I'll probably be on by then since my sleep cycle is all messed up at the moment.

BTW, for those of you aiming for some Lucky Eggs, there's a pretty good way of nabbing them in the Pokemon Customization guide over on GameFAQs. Basically it comes down to:

- Save before speaking to Mr. Backlot at the Pokemon Mansion
- Reset until he mentions seeing Chansey in the garden, then don't speak to him again
- Set Lv 18 pokemon as your leader (with Compound Eyes)
- Bring a pokemon with Covet
- Use a repel and go to town

Basically the only things that wind up appearing now that you've used the repel are level 18 Chanseys and level 18 Pikachus. Got myself 2 Lucky Eggs, a round stone and a light ball so it works pretty well. A question though: If you give a pokemon the egg and shove them in the daycare, will each step count for more exp?

Additional Spam:
One bad thing about this though is that when you steal from them, the Chansey/Pikachu is KO'd and the weaker pokemon gains experience points. Eventually it levels up and you can't use it for this any more (well, you can but you'll have to wade through countless Kricketune, Pichu, Staravia and Roselia to do so). If there was a move that could steal an item without damaging the opponent, I'd put that pokemon where the Covet/Thief one would be.

Chaotic Aug 11, 2007 10:44 PM

Sphere, I'll get you those TMs as soon as I can. I haven't had a whole lot of time to play since I've been really busy lately. T_T

And I have a crapload of Lucky Eggs also if anyone wants any. <_<

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 11, 2007 11:46 PM

Finally got a Totodile with Dragon Dance and Ice Punch the other day. EV training an adamant one now.

Also, I just thought about the tournament a bit and how themes would be cool. At Neoseeker they're doing a Metronome Tournament, and I thought how great would that be? It'd be funny and it's easy as hell to have Pokemon prepared to fight in it (meaning most anyone with a copy of the game could get in on it). What do you guys think about something like that?

Chaotic Aug 11, 2007 11:58 PM

There's only so many Pokemon that could learn Metronome though. <_<

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Aug 12, 2007 12:06 AM

Actually, more than you'd think. Here's the whole thing from the Neoseeker forums:

Quote:

Rules:

Sudden Death

The fights will be randomly set up in a Sudden Death type of manner. If the number of participants turn out to be odd, a randomly selected person will be automatically transported to the second round.

No hacks

With this, I mean, no Togepi's with 999 attack. Keep it in the legal borders.

One Pokémon Only:

Yes, that's right. Only one.

Metronome only:

Only one move. Metronome. Having any others and you're automatically disqualified.

Normal Held Item Clause:

Meaning, no Quick Claw, King's Rock. You know, that sort of stuff.
Exceptions: No prolonged recovery items. No Leftover, Shoal Salt, Shell Bell, Black Sludge, etc.

All eligible Pokémon are:
