Much appreciated =P

I'm gonna be around for the next four hours'ish, so if anyone wants to play I'm game, just gotta get registered and such. I've added everyone that's gonna be in March Smashness, at least.

Basil Mar 25, 2008 09:16 PM

Damn it. I really need to get an LAN adapter, as I'm having some lag issues as well, even if I have all my P2P stuff turned off. I tried to have one particular match with Kairyu and Chaotic and the match didn't even start until about a minute in because of lag.

1v1 matches run smoothly for me, but 1v2 or 2v2 matches get pretty laggy now. It's been happening since last night. ;_;

chaofan Mar 25, 2008 09:44 PM

-_-... The wait for an PAL version of Smash is killing me. Smash Brothers ain't gonna come out until the year 2100. Fact.

My question is this: For those who reside in America and have had the Japanese version of SSBB (be it hard-copy or downloaded), does the "Random" Wifi-match work now? If I remember correctly, the only way you could connect online in the Japanese Smash Bros was through Friend Codes (and your friend had to be in the same country).

The reason why I ask is because I want to import the US version, but being in Australia, random match-ups won't work. If the Japanese copies of Brawl now connect online in the US, then perhaps when Brawl comes out here, my US version would connect online random matches. Any ideas?

Yeh, the title says discussion on matches only, but I feel a little left out. Any ideas on whether I will be able to connect RAndomly once Smash comes out here?

EDIT: Meh, never mind. T'was a legimate question (sarcasm was intended only for the first line), but now that the focus of the thread has changed, I posted in the wrong place then. Sorry guys.

Nexius Mar 25, 2008 10:03 PM

Heh, I'm pretty sure that's sarcasm chaofan, but I dunno an answer to your question. On to the next person!

But -on- the topic of matches, was fun getting a quick brawl with Basil and Kai in. And sorry to bail on you Identity Crisis, but I was getting some pretty bad lag there. Good job whooping me, though.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Mar 25, 2008 10:43 PM

Yeah, that's sarcasm. It's basically a commentary on the constantly worsening state of this thread.

Aerial Up A. If you're easily bored by Boss Battles (I was), space them out so that you do one or two characters per day. You'll eventually get the challenge and won't be lulled to sleep.

Well apparently my absurdly expensive tuition is not going to a good internet service provider. So far at college I've yet to get better than 5-10fps online and I'm beginning to think it might be me. That and our ~100kbyte/sec bandwidth per student kinda makes it unlikely I'll be online much (at all) anymore. Feel free to delete my friend code.

Chaotic Mar 26, 2008 07:19 AM

Today's Update: Hannenbow

Does anyone actually like this stage?

NovaX Mar 26, 2008 07:26 AM

It's my second favourite stage after Pirate Ship.

Also I'll post my friend code just incase someone wants to experiment colossal lag sometime.

Name is Dan, I think.

Freelance Mar 26, 2008 07:28 AM

It's better than Mario Bros. at least. My sister depises it (Hannenbow) 'cause she keeps falling in the water XD

Everytime I check the thread there's always yet another person to add. I hope the not more than 64 GFFers get Brawl :D

Still need that one on one match with you, Chaotic, and I wanna battle Basil sometime.

I'm fiddling with names for Brawl (my sister and I did that in Melee too), so if you ever see a FF name from someone online, it's me :P I'll probably only use Reno (my name in online PC games), Zack and Locke (I love these characters). Sometimes you may see a Wolf online. That's my sister :P

Animechanic Mar 26, 2008 08:18 AM

Haha, new thread name, with a lower version number.

It's devolving!

Miles Mar 26, 2008 09:22 AM

Anyone who doesn't discuss last night's match will be obliterated by my landmaster. No exceptions!

Icy, I tried to give you another chance but all still failed. Even on endless brawl where you can basically up-A the whole time the 2 frame per second gameplay still keeps me from playing with you. I just feel so bad for you. ;_;

chato Mar 26, 2008 09:30 AM

My little brother (used Lucario ? ) told me you two went at it last night and said you kick ass with falco but could've been better if it weren't for the lag. I demand a match too! Im in class now so I'll be available the rest of the day after 1pm.

I typically don't play the stages where I am more distracted by the stage itself than the opponents. Hannenbow is one of those stages, even though I think the design itself is neat.

Sakabadger Mar 26, 2008 12:54 PM

I like Hannenbow, though I don't play on it much (doesn't seem to pop up in Random much). I guess it's not really the best stage for action, but I love the design. Seems like a lot of folks hate that you can't change music on it, but I dig the hannenbows bouncing off leaves.

28Link Mar 26, 2008 01:01 PM

I'm free to play tonight from around 8 pm EST, hopefully play some of you guys. I hate how I have to stay online and can't attempt any of the challenges, so that's why I usually don't appear online. Might also be caused by With Anyone matches that lagged really badly, that was unbearable.

I'll be updating my Friends list with everyone on the most recent wiki list, if anyone cares.

As a side note (spoilered for containing unlockable character):

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it. =P

I'm not 100% sure but this is all from observation*. The way Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection works for Brawl is that the server looks at your IP address and connects accordingly. So JP IP = JP server; US/CAN/North America IP = US Server; EU IP = EU server; AU IP = AU server; etc. When you're doing random match this is what the server looks for and since there's no EU and AU server yet, you won't get it to work. With Friend Code, I think it either connect directly to that person (like a P2P) or it sees where that FC is located and connects to that server (like if the FC is located in the US, you will connect to the US server).

BTW, did anybody had a problem connecting online yesterday? Starting around 6 PM EST lots of people couldn't connect. First it gives an error code saying that NWFC is experiencee heavy traffic then later on gives BS about not connecting to the internet at all. Nintendo should really upgrade their server. Mario Kart Wii is just around the corner and it's going to kill NWFC! :tpg:

*EDIT: Forgot to mention that I do have JP Brawl and random match didn't work until a week before US Brawl came out. So this is saying that a US Brawl server wasn't created/open until the near of the release date and could apply to EU and AU server.

SuperSonic Mar 26, 2008 11:35 PM

Alright, I just entered the 57 other friend codes besides mine that are currently on the wiki. If you never plan on adding me, give me a pm so I can delete yours and make some room.

Nova, I tried entering yours and I got the friend code is incorrect error.

Anyone think Nintendo will let you download something onto the Wii so you can have more than 64 friend codes?

NovaX Mar 26, 2008 11:52 PM

Hmmm.. I guess I'll have to look into that.

Chaotic Mar 27, 2008 01:36 AM

Yay, matches with Sonic, CN, and his brother. All good fun. :3:

And holy crap, CN, the connection rarely lagged, I could actually face you in matches now.

Why the fuck can't I win against you and your brother? ;_;

Slash Mar 27, 2008 01:39 AM

I'll probably get on to play in about 20 minutes or something of that nature

Chaotic Mar 27, 2008 10:11 AM

Today's Updates: Sheik's special moves and Character Roll Call.

Roll Call is just the credits after Classic Mode... And Sheik, I could never use her, and I still can't use her. o_o

Krelian Mar 27, 2008 10:49 AM

I got Brawl on Tuesday, unlocked everyone yesterday, got online today.

Name: Fnool
Code: 1590-4638-0054

Going to start adding everyone in a minute or two.

Good lord, before you came in I was always the first one to die off. It was absolute madness.

I actually thought it was a bit laggy when you joined in but that might be because we're connected to two different Wiis. Overall I think it's getting better... or not.*

I bet if we go 1-on-1 you'll beat me. As for my brother... er, no comment. >_>

I think this is the reason why my brother doesn't want to participate in GFF tournament. You guys will be pissed of at him... and me for letting him join in. lol

And Chaotic remember what you said...
