There are 3 reasons why people download the game.
1. Impatient - you don't want to wait another month for this long awaited game ><

2.Cheap - you got the money but don't want to spend it on the game

3.Poor - gots no money when the game actually launches so this is a quick fix.. This is me o-o

not sure about everyone else but I'm getting it through here

Wow, thanks Shenlon. Apparently this one is good because some guy on the page said he's up to some plains. Do I need some sort of PS2 mod to play this?

However this time, since I'm getting the guide, I hope my preorder can still work, and according to Rei no Otaku, he says yes, for the American EB Games, at least.

Oh, well, I think that Amazon has a 30% discount. It might be 20%, but ya.

Is this a working leak anyway?
EDIT: Nevermind, didn't refresh the page to read Metal's post.

Yes, yes you do.

You either need a mod chip or a disc-swapping system like Swap Magic (which is what I use) with a flip-top case mod.

Ok, I'll just see if I can get my neighbor's flip-top PS2 at least until I finish the game.

OH SHIT THE GAME IS LEAKED!!! I KNOW I AM LATE BUT GODDAMN HOLY HELL!!!!

Casaubon Oct 2, 2006 01:04 PM

For those of you using HDLoader, there's already been a patch thanks to some kid over at PS2HD.

Spatula Oct 2, 2006 01:07 PM

I guess this makes me both happy and sad. But at the same time I'm glad I'm waiting for it since I've got exams and things to worry about at the end of October, then on 31st, I'll be all free. This isn't so bad after all.

Furthermore, I'm pretty technologically inept regarding anything to do with burned games, mod chips, and I don't feel like paying $150 for a chip to play it 30 days earlier.

Weeklan Oct 2, 2006 01:15 PM

^Swap Magic 3.6 only costs about $35 mate.

No modding either. Just burn the ISO, load up Swap Magic on ur PS2, then swap it with your burned fresh copy of FFXII, play till your heart's content.

I already have the Japanese version but I was too busy to play that. Now the English version, well yes, cause I can read English better than I can read Japanese.

Anyway Spatula good luck with your exams bro (seems like everyone got exams all year 24/7?) I finished my major exams back in June-July.

Just remember when your revising, sweating for those exam marks, we'll be playing FFXII baby yeah :P

Spatula Oct 2, 2006 01:25 PM

But then I like how I have November 1,2,3, and 6th off from work, so talk about major FF fest those 6 days. Plus I have the last week of December up to January 3rd off as well. So major anime/video game binge for that period too.

PiccoloNamek Oct 2, 2006 01:32 PM

You could just install a copy of cogswaploader onto your memory card. You don't even need any preexisting tools to do it either. Just a CD-burner and a quick hand to swap out a normal disc for the cogswap disc before the loading screen vanishes. It then automatically installs itself onto your memory card. You have to configure it to work with a specific CD though. Mine is activated by the greatest hits version of Chono Cross.

Spatula Oct 2, 2006 01:48 PM

Nah, I used to get lots of burned PC games but then stopped since I really got bored with PC gaming.

And I really couldn't be bothered with this game, even though this is my most hyped up game of the year, I can't really pull myself to get a burned copy, no matter how easy it may seem. I don't blame any of you for getting this early, since most of you will still get the retail and that's fine. Even if you didn't get any retail copies, I'm not in a position to judge, so.

Anyways thanks for the suggestions.

Hey, I have a copy of the collector's edition waiting for me at my local Gamestop. :)

Casaubon Oct 2, 2006 02:13 PM

Man this game is already awesome. I just played 2 hours without saving and got fucked up by the T-rex so I have to replay through the beginning, but I actually kind of want to.

Anyways this about wraps it up for me and this thread until the 31st.

Soldier Oct 2, 2006 03:38 PM

Casaubon just PM'd me the link right now, and it's definetely within my power to download it and run if off HD Loader.

But I'm not going to do it. Even if I'm still planning to buy the game legit and just call this download "an early start", I'm not in the right mindset to start the game now. For one thing, I just started a new job, and for another I'm still halfway done with XSII and just started with VP2.

As silly as it sounds, I'm just not "ready" for FFXII yet. I'd rather use the last remaining weeks to hype myself up to the fullest, which will make the release all the more sweeter.

Now if some of you want to play it now, go right ahead. But I think maybe we should create a seperate thread for the ones who are playing the leaked version, while the rest of us who will wait it out can use this thread up until the release. Then you can just merge the two together.

How did I know you were going to say that?

Geez, Soldier, you pulled the same crap with AC and Dirge of Cerberus (the "I'm not going to do this early, I need to have my first virgin playthrough be the best it possibly can in tip-top audio/visual, etc...").

No, we can't merge the two threads together later because the posts would go between one another and make no sense.

If anyone wants to spoil stuff, put it in spoiler tags, I don't see why it'd have to be a new thread.

Soldier Oct 2, 2006 03:49 PM

I know it sounds similar, but in AC's case, it was a resistance to the japanese version, ripped from the DVD release. Even though I still feel pretty stupid for waiting an extra 8 months, I still didn't want to watch a less-than-perfect DVD rip.

That doesn't apply to FFXII here, which should run perfectly, if not faster. But it's true, I just don't have the free time right now. Maybe I'll give it a shot a week before, but I can't really fit it into my current schedule.

Excited fanboys/newbies who will ignore the tags. :tpg:

And also, I downloaded DoC as soon as it was available. My priority for that one wasn't nearly as important as AC or FFXII, and I wasn't planning to buy it anyway.

I guess that you'll have to ignore this thread for a month then.

"I have been zinged!"

But still, I don't have the free time right now. I'm not sure if I'll download it or not, but I'll consider it.

Andrew Evenstar Oct 3, 2006 12:01 AM

This is awesome. I remember when the jap copy was released a few days before it came out too. Freaking square making us wait so damn long for the US version! I'm using swap magic, I can't wait till it finished so I know the game's script!

JazzFlight Oct 3, 2006 12:04 AM

I've played for about 3:30 hours and it's living up to all of my expectations.

The voice acting is still incredible, and it looks great in widescreen. I'm addicted to the license system, and I try to steal from every enemy to harvest sellable items.

The main story is excellent, very mature and emotional.

PiccoloNamek Oct 3, 2006 12:16 AM

Awesome, I can't wait.

And yet, I shall.
