Aww shit. I was in the hospital on the first. I missed something amazing, didn't I?

The unmovable stubborn Apr 3, 2011 05:49 PM

You know, much as I'm enjoying this little 1-on-1 with Shin I suspect it would be faster to just send him some old Choose Your Own Adventures.

Animechanic Apr 3, 2011 07:26 PM

Sorry, having a rough week. Was in the hospital from Tuesday night to Saturday afternoon after vomiting blood. And today one of my pet rats died.

The unmovable stubborn Apr 3, 2011 07:30 PM

No, I meant, like, everybody except you.

You're cool. :(

No. Hard Pass. Apr 3, 2011 10:37 PM

Sorry, Pang. Was dealing with a promotion and a bunch of new stuff at work. I'm back now, though. I was reading, just not participating. (also, not hating.)

wvlfpvp Apr 5, 2011 05:46 PM

Considering how I made a post a couple of pages back about being away from a steady connection, I'd hope I was excused.

It's been a shitty couple of weeks.

The unmovable stubborn Apr 13, 2011 04:48 AM

Well, I got two indifferent answers and no negatives on the system-change question so I've decided to consider that a Wildly Positive Response. That being said: wvlf is rotating out after this adventure, but would the rest of you prefer:

A: I try to convert your character as-is to the new system, with all the rough edges and weird inconsistencies that implies.

B: You just make a new guy.

If you don't answer I'm defaulting to B, so let me know.

We're probably doing Warhammer FRP if that helps you decide.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Apr 13, 2011 05:01 AM

I'd really have to give the new system a look over before I could decide that. To be quite honest I've become somewhat attached to the psychotic little bugger I've got now though.

Mayhaps something comically impossible in that setting like a lizard man warpriest.

Though it might be fun to do something that's not even medieval fantasy.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 14, 2011 12:11 PM

Ahahahaha, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is the greatest game ever, I'm definitely making a new character (Seeing as how you don't really get skills like in Dnd I don't think Beefi would translate too well anyway, plus the random career generation in WFR is hilarious).

Cette, WFR lends itself well to psychotic bastards, there's a neat critical table you roll on when you get someone below 0 health that can lead to lost limbs, disembowelment and decapitation. Only downside is it works the same way for player characters and if you think the DnD economy is stingy, you can save up for months in WFR just to get a suit of leather armour only to be messily exploded by a wizard you looked at funny in the pub the day before you buy it.

I'll have to find my copy of it, it's up in the loft somewhere (1st edition, I believe they revamped it a few times).

Additional Spam:
Also, if this is to be Beefi's final hurrah, I believe a little leeway in the roleplaying would be permissable because I'm fucked if I'm letting that dragon get first swing at me.

No. Hard Pass. Apr 14, 2011 03:14 PM

I'll make my own dude. It will be like a Dudesplosion.

No homo.

Animechanic Apr 15, 2011 06:44 AM

I guess a new character for me then. Seekers don't seem terribly exciting beyond the occasional bee swarm, and it sounds like converting him would be a major pain.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 16, 2011 07:06 PM

I don't think any amount of comedy wrestling moves are going to kill this dragon in six hits, especially if I keep missing. I should have picked a more realistic target to aim for.

Still, if Beefi somehow manages to kill it before you guys get involved then his position in Badass Valhalla is assured at least.

Additional Spam:
Oh yeah, do we have action points at the moment?

Animechanic Apr 16, 2011 07:15 PM

I think we do. This is our first encounter after an extended rest, right? Smoke 'em if you got em.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 20, 2011 01:37 PM

If I've not bloodied it yet, I may have to give up on the record attempt (Seeing as how I used most of my big attacks already).

(And am probably not going to walk away from too many rounds of combat like that first one).

The unmovable stubborn Apr 20, 2011 01:37 PM

Will somebody cover for wvlf, this is going to take months.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 21, 2011 06:25 PM

I am both surprised and relieved that Zerg got there before Skills...

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 24, 2011 04:35 PM

I've never been knocked out before, doing a second wind thing wakes you back up, right?

Zergrinch Apr 24, 2011 05:21 PM

Without outside help*, the only way you wake up by yourself is to roll a 20 on your death save at the end of your 'turn'.

* Involves someone letting you spend a healing surge, or recover HP as if you spent a healing surge. Too bad the only healer is dominated right now. :tpg:

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 25, 2011 05:11 AM

I shall stick to lying on the floor bleeding then. If anyone's feeling like taking on the dragon and reckons I'll be down for a few turns, don't forget we have that "Now you fucked up" card.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Apr 25, 2011 05:19 AM

I'm totally on that as soon as I'm done being mind raped.

So yeah what do we figure the odds are that we're going to be switching systems earlier than expected?

Animechanic Apr 25, 2011 10:03 PM

Hey Pang, I did a ranged attack while standing next to the Geonid that grabbed me. Did you give it an opportunity attack?

The unmovable stubborn Apr 26, 2011 11:28 AM

Why would you want to remind me of that?

Missed anyway.

If you'd like to get started on your WFRP character, it's easy! Warhammer character creation is quick, simple, and horrifyingly unfair and random. To begin, just choose a race (human, elf, dwarf or halfling) and roll 3d10 to determine your starting career.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Apr 26, 2011 11:50 AM

I've still not had a chance to dig out my WFR rulebook, must do that soon. I understand they re-released it at some point, which version are you going with?

I'm going to be a human next time and am crossing my fingers for the career choice table to make me a beggar. Sure being a pit fighter actually gives you some useful skills and a semi-decent career path but given that nobody ever survives longer than their third skill choice it doesn't matter long-term.

Edit: In WFR, it's usually a D100 isn't it? i.e. 2D10 but it's the individual numbers that matter rather than the total.

Edit2: I totally forgot about Beefi's Ferocity feat that lets him make a basic melee attack when dropped to zero hp. Given he was raging at the time and would have caused 1W damage if he missed, the dragon basically takes another D8+7 damage. I still think we're all going to die here but every little helps and all that.

Because when an enemy misses a melee attack I can use Spirit's rebuke to push it away from me. In this case ending the grab and preventing me from getting stuck inside a rock. Probably means I'll get dragon breath instead but what the hell.

The unmovable stubborn Apr 26, 2011 12:34 PM

Oh. :(

I don't know whether you played 1st ed or 2nd, but we'll be doing 2nd (3rd is a little too trinket-heavy for my liking and evidently they removed halflings which I will not countenance). With the Career Compendium there's around 120 starting careers so the roll is expanded to 3d10. 1d1000 would probably work just as well considering we don't need to physically hunt down a thousand-sided solid.

edit: actually the dice roller won't allow d1000, so 3d10 it is!
