Bleh, many of the people I've faced against tell me that they're having lag issues, so it's definitely something on my end. I've done everything I could think of to optimize the efficiency of the connection through the Nintendo WiFi adapter, but I still can't pinpoint what's causing all of the lag. Until then, I'll refrain from joining anybody else's room and try to stick with 1v1. Everyone is more than welcome to join if another person is in there already, but there's no guarantee as to how the stable my connection becomes with three or four people at the same time.

What's weird is that my connection with Freelance Wolf works fine most of the time, but it seems to hate everyone else. =/

Today's completely un-important update: Boss Battle Mode

Anyone heard of it?

Yeah, you have a big red circle next to your name. Not sure if there's anything you can do about it... How are you connecting to WFC?

Well its pretty easy to unlock the mode, but ugh some of the challenges for this mode are probably going to be cracked with a hammer. I'm still sitting on four of them, wondering what challenges to use one on.

You might want to read up on that. I recall reading that a lot of the Boss mode challenges are un-hammerable. Wouldn't be too much fun blowing through hammers trying to break these and getting nothing in return.

Can you confirm that it is possible to use a hammer and lose it despite the challenge not being smashed?

Chaotic Mar 24, 2008 04:54 PM

I asked this question before. If it's an unbreakable window, you won't lose the hammer itself.

Good to know, I still haven't hammered anything in fear of losing the hammer itself even when the window doesn't break.

Chaotic Mar 24, 2008 06:03 PM

I wasted mine on crap and highly regret it. Now I actually gotta work for everything. ;_;

Also, I'll probably be on and off Wi-fi from 10 PM EST... Hope to at least face someone tonight without much trouble.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Mar 24, 2008 08:51 PM

Well, luckily, there's not much...well, CHALLENGE to these challenges, cept maybe Boss Battles on Hard and above. Everything else is either tedious and boring as fuck, like the homerun stuff, 100 man melee/target smashes/complete things with all characters, can be powered through easily enough with plenty of coins if you're not very good, like the beat All Star/Classic on Intense, or just takes time grinding, like the get all music or 100 hours of BS stuff.

In fact, all I've got left are the tedius ones of "do it with all characters" for the various events, "collect all CDs", "100 hours of brawls", and boss battles on Hard and up. Probably won't go for boss battles with everyone, even on easy, it would be annoying to do with some characters. (Here's lookin at you, Olimar.)

Woot. Double landmaster kill in the air. Sorry, Kai. :3:

From the Basil/Kai/Me Fight:

;_;
Why must I always suicide in battles against Kairyu? :tpg:

That's ok, I made up for it by dominating you with a pink yoshi on his home turf.
God was that match hilarious xD

The lag wasn't as bad as I thought though. Tolerable, but not as bad as I thought.

But you kept getting all the Smash Balls. ;_; Too many Dragon Yoshis! :tpg:

Nexius Mar 24, 2008 11:22 PM

Heya guys, just got myself a Wii this weekend and set up my connection, so definitely looking forward to some matches. Nickname's Nex, code is 4725-7869-7084

Miles Mar 25, 2008 01:22 AM

Yeah... kai, sorry for owning you with fox. Also, let's get 200+ kills on endless tomorrow. :3

Chaotic Mar 25, 2008 02:10 AM

Today's Update: Jigglypuff. :3:

I roffled at the picture.

Basil Mar 25, 2008 02:30 AM

Why does the Dojo even bother to keep updating now that the game is out? There's certainly people who have wrapped through most of the game by now. I don't get it. -- Oh. Right. The Europeans. ;___;

So I had my first matches with Chaotic, nuttyturnip and Kaleb tonight. The swordsmen seem to be my best characters and Ike's moves are pretty damage-dealing too.

Any others wanting to Brawl with me? =O

Chaotic Mar 25, 2008 02:45 AM

Well, it's for the Europeans. o_o

On top of that, Sakurai wants us to use it as a guide despite the fact the game is out in two countries already.

He explains everything here: Smash Bros. DOJO!!

And I'm sure Wolf will be the final update for the site.

Kairyu Mar 25, 2008 03:04 AM

Damn you Chaotic and Miles with your crazy ass Landmasters ;_;

The lag wasn't bad at all in tonight's matches. Especially all the one-on-one matches I got to do. The only problems I had was Basil's connection. Apparently having his brother as a second player is impossible on his wireless connection.

I'll add you to the gfwiki (and friend roster) in a moment, if anyone hasn't done so already.

Sure thing, just quit throwing bumpers on yourself :tpg:

Sakabadger Mar 25, 2008 05:54 AM

There isn't any actual benefit to doing stuff like multi man melee on co-op is there? Aside from a personal record, that is.

Chaotic Mar 25, 2008 08:39 AM

Nope, just personal records. No co-op things actually affect challenges (which highly upsets me :().

More like Basil leaving his FTP on causing the match to run at 5fps and making me die an early death due to it feeling like I'm moving underwater. Good job, buddy!

And you were the one who put that bumper in the dead center for me to bounce off of and die. We can't set new records on endless if you're out to kill your partner, now can we? :3:

Josiah Mar 25, 2008 01:25 PM

Say...I had a thought in reading IC's post: when I've played friends lately I've had about a half-second delay to whatever I do, but they tell me they don't have any lag. So, would it actually be me that's lagging, or them? The delay is pretty consistent in random brawls online too, but maybe I'm just unfortunately getting matched up with somebody else who lags, I dunno.

Or my wireless was just fucked over at the time. Could be either one.

By getting this LAN adapter, though, it'd basically mean there'd be a cord running across the house, since my Wii and TV is at one end and the computer/router at the other end. My parents get really peeved over stuff like that :gonk:

;_; We all forget to do stuff. Like backing up the server to prevent a month's downtime :tpg:

But seriously, I either need to make one of my taunts as a reminder to shut off my FTP/torrents, or you guys need to bitch at me more. I think I like the second option better though~

And Nexius, I'll add you in a bit. I've seen you elsewhere here on numerous occasions and you're pretty decent, so.

Ah, so you were BK2. I kept thinking Burger King, and was imagining myself battling Identity Crisis and the King. Poor Tritoch kept trying to join, but his internet wasn't fast enough.

And sorry for only playing one match against you, Chaotic. I was trying to open a room for a quick match with Tritoch, then I had to go to bed.
