I imagine they'll have a certain amount a month but they'll probably release a new game or two every week.

Ban him, ban him as a witch!

I've read in a blog that GC games look better on the Wii somehow. Does anyone know something about that?

I'm sure by turn off the TV, they meant broadcast television where you just sit and watch it. It's poorly worded, yes, but it's not complete nonsense.

What could possibly be better than Blind Tennis?

Sorry to move off what you guys are talking about here but I've got a question. With every system that I've got from Nintendo I've always purchased the product replacement plan but I've been fortunate enough that nothing has malfunctioned with any of my systems. That said, should I get the plan with the Wii? I'm trying to save a little bit of money on launch. What are the chances that the Wii might have defects on launch?

Lukage Nov 14, 2006 01:17 AM

I'd get it anyway. I find the $40 to be a rather soothing assurance of quality.

Only if you don't get it will it break (Hey there Murphy's Law!)

Technophile Nov 14, 2006 03:06 AM

Guys excuse my ignorance, but...is there any way to get Wii online via a wired connection? I have four different pc's set up in different rooms and I'm really don't know how to make a single online connection stay wired in three rooms and wireless in the fourth room with the Wii.

WTF is a product replacement plan? Isn't that what the warranty is for? Or do you mean a extension of the warranty beyond the regular 2 years?

Infernal Monkey Nov 14, 2006 04:24 AM

'Regular 2 years'? Aren't warranties (especially in America) like 30 days or some bullshit? :tpg: But yeah, that's an extended warranty of sorts.

How would that be possible considering many Wii games look worse than GameCube ones?

30 days of warranty? LMAO! I dunno about US of A but in Europe the warranty lasts 2 years, or so I've been told.

You can use the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi connector, I bought one recently for this very reason.

The warranties on Nintendo systems are generally 1 year and you have to mail it back to Nintendo. Best Buy's product replacement plans last for 2 years and you just have to bring it up to their Returns counter and get a new one.

I usually buy one for every console, but I'm not really worried about the Wii. I rarely have any trouble with my Nintendo consoles breaking down, so there probably won't be any issues.

Omnislash124 Nov 14, 2006 09:48 AM

I've never bought any extended warranty and stuff. The regular, limited warranty here in the US is usually 1 year. It's 30 days for a refund, but you can return the thing for up to a year. Then again, it depends on which vendor you bought from.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it. Every Nintendo System that's come out has been pretty damn sturdy and won't break easily. But I really haven't seen a torture test for the Wii.

Additional Anti-Aliasing for some titles? I don't know. I've just read that and wanted to know how that could be possible.

Grubdog Nov 14, 2006 06:54 PM

I hope they haven't changed at all, then i'd have to keep my Cube out to play them properly. All i've heard is that the loading times have been decreased by 4-6 seconds in some GC games when played on Wii.

GC games have load times? This is news to me.

Then again, maybe it's just the games I have.

I don't recall the following games having load times...at least not a loading screen...

Mario Party 4
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Power Tennis

Super Smash Bros. Melee had a loading screen, but that took all of 2 seconds max.

I wasn't aware of loading times either, until my recent purchases of Timesplitters 2 and NBA Street 2. The sudden need for load times just took me by surprise, but I can't say they're long enough to warrant complaints.

chaofan Nov 14, 2006 11:25 PM

Well I'm hoping the Wii might be able to fix the frame rate issues of games such as Star Fox Adventures and whatnot (Tony Hawk 3 had pretty had frame-rate issues too). I wasn't able to appreciate those games properly.

I have another inquiry, I read somewhere in internet land that WiiPoints can be attained by buying retail games, any reports on how many you get?

I went to a Wally World today and asked about the system in question, and being a 24 hour place I decided that this will be the better place to get it, though mostly I dont feel like wait some eight hours later at a Best Buy.
Spoiler:
though, if I was really devious, after I get it, go to the crounds outside of BB and flash it off, though I probably be attacked and I'd be out of commission for a while, lol

I, for some reason, forgot to ask about the line policy, as in lounging around for hours on end. Saturday, 6PM sharp, I'll see you there!

I've mentioned it as being a good idea in the past. What, with rewarding the consumer and all, but no there hasn't been any word on that. There might be a deal where if you buy one of those bigger Wii points cards you also get a Wii controller which isn't too bad of a deal.

The B0mb Nov 15, 2006 03:48 AM

Your waiting till 6 to line up? Huh..maybe i'm jumping the gun. I planed on being in Wal-mart at 12pm heh..it's going to be a LONG day.
