You know what? Resistance doesn't really look that good... It really looks like an UT2004 mod with HDR effects, you know? I mean, look especially at that last screenshot. Not very desirable right now...
|
It's not really Resistance's look that has me wanting to buy it. It's being developed by the same guys who did Ratchet and Clank, so I'm looking forward to actually playing it, and not looking at it.
The Ratchet and Clank games have always had stellar gameplay, so I can't really see why that wouldn't translate over to Resistance. |

The snow shot looks good, mainly because the artwork for that place was probably nice looking as well. The other ones, however, look very meh, which is surprising given the people behind this.

Armored Core 4 trailer.
http://ps3.qj.net/Hot-Hot-Trailer-Fo...g/49/aid/62764 Looks outstanding....IF it's all realtime. It's always been my one major gaming dream to be able to fully simulate the experience of piloting a sleek, heavily armed robot across cityscapes, underwater, and the endless sky. I think a major part of the experience has to do with visuals, so surely the PS3 should be the system that will finally bring the mech experience to life. Just imagine if they make a ZOE 3 with graphics like that. |
It's mostly CG, very pretty CG, and quick cuts to some gameplay. What interested me more than the looks is the fluidity of the gameplay segments. One of the main complaints hurled at the Armored Core franchise is that the combat is slow and clunky.
Hopefully it looks like that's been fixed. |
Yeah, it does seem fluid enough, which should be the norm for all future mech games. But I also hope the visuals can match the CG, at least by the time Armored Core 5 comes out.
Unreal Tournament 2007. http://i.i.com.com/cnet.g2/images/20..._screen001.jpg http://i.i.com.com/cnet.g2/images/20..._screen002.jpg http://www.gamescathedral.de/gamesca...rder=0&thold=0 Good God. The video was sort of "meh" though. |
Damn that's pretty. Though looking at the giant robots in the UT2K7 pictures, I can't help but hope that the PS3 Gundam game(s) look that good.
|
That tripedal robot looks a lot like the designs in Crysis - perhaps imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

August 23, 2006 - We had a hunch that Sony's presence at the September Tokyo Game Show was going to be big, and now we have confirmation. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced today that 27 PS3 games will be playable at the show. Here's a list of 19 of 27 confirmed playable PS3 titles. The publisher for each game is listed in parentheses. # Railfan (Ongakukan) # Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom) # Fatal Inertia (Koei) # Blade Storm (Koei) # Mahjong Taikai IV (Koei) # Coded Arms Assault (Konami Digital Entertainment) # Genji (SCEJ) # Formula One World Championship (SCEJ) # Heavenly Sword (SCEJ) # Lair (SCEJ) # MotorStorm (SCEJ) # Resistance Fall of Man (SCEJ) # The Eye of Judgment (SCEJ) # Warhawk (SCEJ) # Gran Turismo Series (SCEJ) # Minna no Golf 5 (aka Hot Shots Golf, SCEJ) # Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco Games) # Gundam Target in Sight (Bandai Namco Games) # Armored Core 4 (From Software) There are still 8 more playable titles that are secret at this time. |
I'd be impressed if they showed gameplay shots that looked like that. But for being CG, they're not that impressive, graphically.
On the other hand, it does look fun. Also, was that a Tony Hawk minigame I saw in that video? |

I like how there's always a mahjong game at every JPN launch. |
Awwwwwww, where's a playable Tekken?
|
Possibly under the 8 secret titles? Who knows.

http://www.theinquirer.net/images/articles/ps3.jpg I still can't get over how shiny, shiny, shiny the PS3 is. I'm going to have to keep a cloth inside my room at all times to polish off the inevitable dust and fingerprints. |

There must be like 2 inches of gloss on there. That's almost as reflective as a mirror.... |
I haven't been keeping up with PS3 news lately but is it true that the PS3 won't support used games? Do you guys seriously want to pay 600$ for a system that won't let you rent, borrow, trade-in or buy used games? Especially when they're 60$ and up. I lost all faith in Sony once I heard about the PS3's price tag. But if this is true, I mean WTF, then I'll never get a PS3 regardless of how much it costs. Imagine buying a game only to find out it sucks, I'm sure we've all done that once or twice. Then you'll really be stuck with a piece of crap in a box.

Kikizo just released a bunch of high definition trailers for PS3 games from Games Convention. Needless to say, this is awesome material, be sure to check it out: http://games.kikizo.com/news/200608/141.asp
I'm particularly impressed by that narrator person on a throne in Heavenly Sword. The facial animation is just superb, I've never seen something like this before in a videogame: http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/477...3041ts3.th.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/281...3101fp2.th.jpg Sony just got me hyped again, all of these games look simply fantastic. P.S.: Giant enemy crab included with Genji 2 trailer for great internet justice! |
The Motorstorm looks almost like the CG overhype trailer from last year. Very pretty, and it looks fun on top of that.
|
Apparantly the launch titles
* Bladestorm: Hundred Years War * Call of Duty 3 * Fatal Inertia * Full Auto 2 * Genji 2 * Lair * Madden NFL 2007 * Marvel Ultimate Alliance * MotorStorm * NBA Live 2007 * NBA 07 * Need for Speed: Carbon * Rainbow Six: Vegas * Resistance: Fall of Man * Sonic the Hedgehog * Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2007 * Tony Hawk's Project 8 * Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom * Warhawk Pretty much nothing I really want there, despite my original plans of buying a PS3 on launch, something I decided about 3 years ago before it was even announced, I don't think I will anymore. Lack of any titles I want straight away, price and what will probably be faulty hardware. If I do though, I'll probably go for Resistance, Warhawk and either Tony Hawk or Call of Duty 3. |
I know I'll be picking up Warhawk, Genji 2, Fatal Inertia, and Untold Legends. Resistance will likely be next, and I'll have to see more about Bladestorm.

You're going to see it in thier consoles, televisions, cameras, and so on. Though, I'm pretty sure it's been used in TVs before the PSP for awile, no? |
The PSX media player had the XMB as did some of their TVs before the PSP rolled around. I covered why the menu looks like that and why it's probably only for the devkit.
