Does anyone care to elaborate on the soundtrack that is included in the LE.

I heard it is embedded onto a BD disc, which makes it useless. I want to know ASAP so I can put in a preorder for the real soundtrack at CD Jap.

can't say that clearly enough, I mean, who has a fucking BD player in thier car?

Funny thing when I picked up my Saga v.2 the sorry fellow behind the counter thinks he's Otacon with that crazy hair/ glasses shit (didn't help he had OTACON proudly displayed on his badge, lol).

I have to say if I don't have the funds to pay for a triple in full I'll havta go to a rent-a-center and pick up a Dualshock3 (I guess I fit into 'that' demographic that Sony was looking for :/ ).

Supposed to be a seperate CD but whether or not its the MGS4 OST is unknown. Christ it'll likely be the 20th Anniversary CD or worse given its GameStop who gave away a "Resident Evil LE Soundtrack" with the LE version of RE4 and the CD ended up being a few select tracks of goth rock and such from the RE movie.

Haha, I like how the cigs will have a use other than infrared sensor detection.

Heh, already slapped down my pre-order for the OST with CDjapan, apparently the first press is a "super" jewel case. I'm not expecting too much, if anything, out of the OST that comes with the LE. It'll probably be as lame as the one that came with the CE of DMC4. I'm more curious as what'll actually be included in official soundtrack release, as it can't be too complete of a soundtrack since it's being released a couple weeks for before the game's release (potential tracklist spoilers, I'll be avoiding it), and at the same time it seems like it'll have all the key cues as it's actually a 2 disc release.

Gonna stop by my eb tomorrow, hopefully they have the DVD in by then. Oh and upon viewing the TGS07 trailer again, this caught my eye. MkII is right beside Snake in the cockpit, heh, no doubt Otacon will be providing info on Rex's controls for that fight.

Megalith Apr 9, 2008 07:01 AM

They better not handle the soundtrack releases like they did with MGS2. What a fucking nightmare.

MGS2 SOUNDTRACK THE OTHER SIDE 3 MORE TRACKS LOL

Can anyone confirm that the music in the Saga DVD is music from MGS4. Shit epic mang.

Simo Apr 9, 2008 10:39 AM

Yeah but on the upside the MGS3 soundtrack was handled much better with pretty much all the music from the game in one release.

Not sure if any of the music on the DVD is from MGS4 though the credits music is "Calling to the Night" from Portable Ops.

Speaking of PO, after getting the Essential Collection I figured I'd go and play through the MGS titles in chronological order starting with MGS3, I just completed it over the weekend and wanted to give Portable Ops a go since I heard the story was supposed to be and significant to the whole Metal Gear universe but given I don't own a PSP I basically just watched all of Portable Ops' cutscenes on YouTube to get the story. Great stuff that further fleshes out Big Boss' story and there are some pretty important revelations in PO involving The Patriots and characters in MGS3 such as...
Spoiler:
Ocelot and Major Zero being among those who established The Patriots and were among the first on the Wiseman's Committee and at the end Ocelot asks Zero if they should ask Big Boss to join them. It also gets revealed that Zero was the one who orchestrated Operation Snake Eater to happen given Volgin fired the nuke at the end of Virtuous Mission because he was told to and not of his own free will.

Is it still possible to preorder this game and get that slip that will allow me into the online beta? I've never preordered a game in my life, so I know very little about the whole process...

Is there a certain store I have to go to, such as Gamestop, or something?

Megalith Apr 9, 2008 02:24 PM

Yes.

I actually just preordered the title a few days ago. Ask them if they have the Saga DVD (which includes the beta key) before putting down your money.

eprox1 Apr 10, 2008 02:22 PM

Sweet. I'm gonna go preorder my copy later today at Gamestop (I read they have an exclusive artbook for everybody who preorders the game through their stores?).

They just released the box art for the limited edition version of the game via the Playstation Blog -

Pictures of the limited edition hardware bundle are yet to be released, but are supposedly coming in the next entry of the Playstation Blog for MGS4...

Simo Apr 10, 2008 03:14 PM

Epic fucking win right there.

It looks like the LE tin opens at the top then given the seam across the case which is interesting. Confirmed contents of the LE version and that import soundtrack...

he MGS4 LE contains everything the SE offers (above, yes, with the potential to get the “Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2” DVD with MGO Beta Unique Product Voucher Code insert), as well as a collectible box with exclusive artwork by famed Kojima Productions illustrator Yoji Shinkawa, an additional Blu-ray disc containing two unique and never-before-seen Metal Gear Solid “Making of…” documentaries, and the MGS4 Soundtrack. Additionally, customers reserving the “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” Limited Edition will receive an exclusive MGS4 Art Book at time of purchase. This offer is good while supplies last, see stores for details. The MSRP of the “Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots” Limited Edition is $84.99 USD.
While the PS blog doesn't have a shot of the boxart for the PS3 bundle it does reveal though that we're getting the same "Steel" PS3 that is apart of the MGS4 bundle in Japan that is sold out.

SouthJag Apr 10, 2008 06:15 PM

So, if what GameStop gives out is Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2, where's the first volume?

Megalith Apr 10, 2008 06:25 PM

Oooooooooh snaaaaaaaap.

Looks like I'm keeping my LE order.

Although they should have used Meryl instead of Ocelot.

Too bad, so sad, but you missed it. Came with a preorder of Subsistence some odd years ago. Can't remember if it was LE pre order only or for regular Subsistence, but either way, it's from there.

eprox1 Apr 10, 2008 06:48 PM

If anything, you can easily find a torrent of Saga Vol. 1 like I did :/.

Yeah, if you're a collector than this is a little worthless, but you'll still be able to see it this way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the first DVD merely a collection of all the cutscenes, with some gameplay footage thrown in there for transitions that required it? It's been so long since I've watched it...

SouthJag Apr 10, 2008 07:44 PM

I probably wouldn't go out and hunt for it regardless. I worked at...I think we merged with GameStop when Subsistence came out, but I don't recall a preorder DVD. Oh well!

Megalith Apr 10, 2008 07:47 PM

Well, after reading about the new store being integrated with the XMB, will you be able to download new camo/costumes?

Saga Vol.1 was more or less a documentary that had an interview with Kojima talking about developing MGS3 and scrapped ideas such as the original plan for the The Boss endfight to have her exposed tit out which would wobble to distract the player or something.

The Saga Vol.1 though was a preorder bonus for the LE version of Subsistence that came with a third disc that was all the games cutscenes sliced together to be something like MGS3: The Movie.

So, hey NEWS for the european gamers out there.
Quote:

Konami has said the European Metal Gear Online beta will run from 21st April to 6th June.

The client will be available to download from 17th April, as Sony told us earlier.

Two of the five maps from the full game will be available to mess around on: Blood Bath and Groznyi Grad.

The former is two-tiered scenario, while the latter is that big (and fantastically named) Shagohod complex from MGS3 that has human catapults to throw you around.

The other three joining these at launch are Ambush Alley with its trenches and sandbags; Midtown Maelstrom with its Middle Eastern alleyways; and Urban Ultimatum with its rooftops.

Metal Gear Online will be released alongside Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on 12th June around the world.

It lets 16 of you fire bullets at each other online, in the hope that one will penetrate and cause massive internal bleeding and lead to death. And then respawn.

There are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture Base and Sneaking missions. It's plenty of fun, too, as you can find out in our first impressions of Metal Gear Online.

WTF 12 lbs???

I'm waiting for the Bluetooth Liquid Ocelot hand.

Master pack, which is a pack of 24 of the headsets, is 12 lbs, Einstein. The actual headset is 0.5lbs, which still is kind of heavy though right?

What's to stop people from other regions from connecting? I hope they put these precautions in place, or my European PSN accounts going to be getting some use.

So are we supposed to just do the math ourselves and figure that a 'master pack' is 24 headsets based on the packages weight comparison, or does it physically say the quantity somewhere on that page that I am just not seeing? And yes, .5 lbs does seem a bit much to be hanging on your ear.

You would think they would break it down into ounces if it is lighter than 1/2 a pound, especially when 'oz.' is right there on the legend...

For people who didn't preorder the game and get a chance to get a beta code...

NOW'S YOUR CHANCE.

VERY interesting how they ask you for your xbox live gamertag when signing up...

EDIT:
Just got an email confirming a slot in the beta, which means I just grabbed a second code. Now I can play the beta with my bro. Saweet.

Once you’ve got the MGO Beta client downloaded and installed, it’s time to load it up. Upon launching and going past the main menu, you’ll see that you need to sign up for a Konami ID. What is a Konami ID you ask? It is Konami’s service that has actually been around for a while in Japan, which basically allows for a unified account and access across various Konami products and services. Konami ID will be used for the first time in MGO for the US, and using the Konami ID allows for some of the really unique features we plan to offer the community with MGO. Once you hit the Konami ID sign up menu option, you should notice something subtle, but really cool: MGO launches the PS3 web browser from in-game and takes you to the Konami ID registration page. You can also simply visit http://id.konami.net from your favorite Web browser right now and sign up as well, to get a head start!
Oh what the fuck is this shit. Is it not going to incorporate our PSN ID's?

Inhert Apr 14, 2008 09:24 PM

Oh well I was not qualified for the MGO beta >.> I guess I'll check to see if the European beta will work outside of Europe...

If anyone has a spare code, just let me know, I'm really interested ;)

Shenlon Apr 14, 2008 09:43 PM

I didn't qualify neither. What do you have to do to qualify anyways or is it just that they already hit an overload on request.
I already have a beta code but I thought I would try to get another one anyways to give someone here. If I get an extra i'll make sure to post back

Well Konami already shutdown beta registrations in Japan since folks from the US and Europe were hopping on to get a code and to top it off Konami said that any IPs that don't originate from Japan will be banned from the service. I take it this will mean likewise for the EU signup incase the US offering fails.
