Oh wow, and I thought the FFX Chocobos looked cool. Imagine if it dies? It could probably feed an army! Mmmm...fried chocobo...
FFVIII and FFXII Chocobos for the win!

Can't wait til I get my hands on it! Sucks that it comes out at the end of October though >_>
Luckily, Sims 2 Pets comes out in the middle of October so I'll have some fun before then.

I detect spelling error.

If you're talking about "Magick," then you're also wrong. That's the way that FFXII spells it.

Although, I could see how this screen would make a European go crazy with all the slight spelling changes.

More like spelling "errour," am I right?

Soldier Sep 30, 2006 02:01 PM

That menu screen is pretty sexy. So it carries a page from Kingdom Hearts and overlaps the menu over your characters?

I have no doubts to the presentation of this behemoth, but it's going to be a little harder to impress me completely after witnessing Valkyrie Profile 2's insanely gorgeous lighting effects.

It looks like our communtiy douche has spotted the error. I am right. In terms of standard English, there is no such word as magick. And I don't believe I've ever played an FF game with the word magic spelt as magick. It was always just magic.

Xaekid Sep 30, 2006 02:44 PM

If you ever played Vagrant Story, there was a conversation between some knights and they actually said "Magick".

EDIT: Found it.

Man, I wish I knew what TV Tuner they used to take those screenshots, they're VGA quality. The media must have upgraded to HD tuners.

And still no news for my EB getting any LE Walkthrough guides after going in today to check out if they also had the VP2 guide, which they didn't as well. They only have the SKU for the FFXII regular guide. >_>

Is it me, or is that the same font used in VP2 for the subtitles (disregarding the ALL CAPS in FFXII)?

30 days left.

told you it'd be more dramatic.

Anyway, I did some digging on the VA's (well, by "digging", I mean I leeched off IMDB).

Quote:

Bobby Edner as Vaan
Yeah...I haven't seen anything with this guy in it. Funny, same thing happened when I read about James Arnold Taylor as Tidus, so whatever.

Quote:

Kari Walgren as Ashe
This one I'm well aware of. Fuu from Samurai Champloo, Lavie from Last Exile, Karin from Shadow Hearts 2, and just recently Shelke from Dirge of Cerberus. She hasn't missed a beat yet, and she won't do it with Ashe.

Quote:

Cat Taber as Panelo
Again, haven't played any games with her in it (Bard's Tale, X-Men Legends), but she has experience, so it should be good.

Quote:

Gideon Emery as Balthier
Another unknown. He's pretty creepy looking from his photo gallery. It's actually a good thing that they're going for little-known VA's, instead of the overused anime regulars.

Quote:

Nicole Fantl as Fran
Senator Lexi Dio in Star Wars Episode II. I have no idea who that is, so that makes her another unknown.

Quote:

Keith Ferguson as Basch
Despite my previous statement, I was really hoping Crispin Freeman would play Basch. Anyway, this guy's played lots of background voices in games like MGS3, but his most significant role in which I immediately recognize...

I'm starting to think an EB employee simply made up this LE FFXII Guide on the count fo there being an LE version of the game. -_-

Hantei Oct 1, 2006 04:01 AM

!!!

The finished Judge and Ashe look great! Definitely another Play Arys I will be picking up. Hopefully they won't release these till next year though, as I'm definitely gonna be short for cash thanks to Medicom's RAH MGS4 Snake.

A few images of these sweets figs, plus one miscellaneous one, I think it's for FF tactic figs.

CuteChocobo Oct 1, 2006 06:47 AM

Yeah those are FF3 DS version... :)
Wow, I want to get the whole set!!

Little out of the sync but again you get to sample some of the English VA.

Oh man, I saw it months ago in Japanese, but seeing it in English gets me really excited. So epic, and gotta love that music.

Cobalt Katze Oct 1, 2006 01:06 PM

Wow... that was awesome. The poster mentioned something about TiVo. Was this broadcasted on TV sometime? It'd be awesome to get a better sync of it.

But in any case, won't matter... because... 30 days! :D

Soldier Oct 1, 2006 01:20 PM

I saw the link last night, but I didn't watch it. I also didn't post it here because I didn't want to encourage spoilers when the game's less than a month away. Granted it's just the intro, but still.

I think he used TiVo to record the game itself playing on his PS2.

Spatula Oct 1, 2006 04:42 PM

Okay that was basically some of the best VA work I've seen in an RPG for a long time. Let the game began!

Hantei Oct 1, 2006 06:11 PM

Agreed, the english dub turned out great! I'm actually forward to playing this one now. Hopefully I won't get slammed with assignments, quizzes, or labs that week. Hey, has there been any word yet on a Limited Edition guide from Brady?

I've been harping and harping on EB games to see if they have a SKU on this for days and days, and still no word. The EB site does say so, however still no word for any Canadian retailers. Hantei, since we're in the same city, they say the Chinook EB is the "flagship" for our city, and they don't even have much info. Where did you preorder your copy Hantei?

Simo Oct 1, 2006 07:07 PM

Just going back to this for a moment...

True it's never been used in a FF title before but that doesn't mean it's never been spelt or used that way. Aleister Crowley popularised the spelling in the early 20th century where Magick was a method for a person to reach true understanding of the self and to act according to one's "True Will", which is why Alexander O. Smith has chosen to use that defininition, or at least the spelling, given FFXII's plot and the Nephicite keypoint.

Well the Japanese version of the OP has been readily available for 7 months now and chances are a good majority of those who read or post in this thread already downloaded that version and it's not like it spoils anything SE hasn't made public knowledge.

EDIT: Maybe it's time to suggest some kind of advanced warning or at least a second thread for pirated copy discussion only....

Just order it from Amazon.ca That way you'll also get a discount. :)
