SNES: Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country 1,2,3, Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG, Kirby Super Star, Zelda: A Link to the Past, F-Zero, Super Mario World, Star Fox, Super Famicon Fire Emblems in English

N64: Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, Yoshi's Story, Star Fox 64, Kirby 64, Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask, Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini

Sega Genesis: Gunstar Heros

That would be awsome if Nintendo had rights to the Rareware games and released the older Fire Emblem games in English as well as Earthbound Zero.

For me, these are the essentials:

SNES: Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, Megaman (just about any of them (Although i know this won't happen cause of the aniversary collection)

N64: Castlevania (Legacy of Darkness), Army Men: Sarge's Heros, Army Men: Air Assault (I think that's what it was called), Donkey Kong 64, Starcraft 64.

Those are the games that i remember most vividly from my younger days. I could live without any of those, with the exception of Illusion and Chrono Trigger. I absolutley need those games to be on there. It'd be awesome if the early Final Fantasy games could make an apperance too, but i'm sure that's just wishful thinking.

Every old classic game would make a good appearance. Since I am now hooked on Double Dragon (Damn Double Dragon III for being so damn hard), I hope those 3 make an appearance. All of the Final Fantasy games would be nice too, no fucking slowdown like in the PSX version....ugh

Previous Mario Kart Iterations would be nice as well as all of the Zelda games. (got a lot of catching up to do...:) ) As for Sega, all of the Sonic Games, Gunstar Heroes, Moonwalker (:lolsign:), and finally, SHINING FORCE (God, I loved this series).

As for N64, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, Smash Bros (can't leave out the original), Jet Force Gemini (I heard it was awesome), and I suppose Perfect Dark (even if it plays just like Goldeneye).

So, I got my Wii preordered. Here's the full details:

I got off of work at around 12:30 AM last night, and went home, thinking that I would skip sleeping and just go to the Toys R Us at around 6 AM, and nap there. Around 5, though, I gave up, and caught an hour's nap. I slept through the alarm, and was only woken up by the cell phone I had left under me while I slept vibrating. I answered the phone sleepily, and heard the voice of my brother-in-law. "Wakey wakey," he said. "It's time to preorder a Wii."

I went off to the Toys R Us on an hour of sleep and vague directions from a hasty glance at Mapquest. Got there around 7:30 AM, and was first in line. It was raining really hard at the time, thanks to the terrific Seattle weather, so I sat in my Civic and idled the engine so that I could keep an eye on the clock and run the heater without running down the battery. I pulled out my DS, got the good-good ending for Phoenix Wright 2, and tried a little Metroid Prime: Hunters... and still think it sucks. Stupid control system.

A few minutes after I pulled up, another guy pulled up in a Honda Odyssey next to me, and he got out, holding an umbrella over his head, and walked over to my window.

"You here for the Nintendo Wii?" he asked me.

"Yeah. Got here a few minutes ago," I replied. He went back into his van, and I shrugged, turning back to my DS.

As time passed, more people trickled in, one after another. Finally, around 9, I put on a raincoat, got out of the car, and walked over to the front door. Everybody else followed me, and before I knew it, all 5 people there were standing behind me. My brother-in-law called again, and gave me an update. "I got here around 3:30 in the morning, and I was 4th in line," he said. "I'm gonna preorder Red Steel and Trauma Center. You want me to preorder Zelda for you?"

"Nahh, shouldn't be necessary," I replied. "I got here around 7:30 and I'm first. Stupid store hasn't opened yet, though."

"That might be bad," my brother-in-law said. "They might not be having a preorder at that store..." I shrugged, and said "If they don't, they don't."

Around 9:30, the employees in the store started to stir and show themselves. One came outside in the rain bearing a heavy coat, and said to us, "What are waiting here for?"

"We're waiting for the Wii," I said.

"Oh, okay." And with that, he pushed his shopping cart, and emptied the garbage bags into it.

A few minutes later, my sister called. "You doing okay there?" she asked me. "Yeah," I said. "I'm a little tired, though."

"I'll bring you some coffee," she suggested.

"That would be terrific," I said gratefully.

While this was going on, more people were trickling in. 3 cars pulled up, saw the line, and immediately drove away, and I remarked, "It's amazing how five people can drive away so many people." That number quickly swelled to at least 12 people, though, as more joined us in the line.

Finally, 10 minutes before the store opened, my sister drove up, bearing coffee with eggnog mixed into it. Sweet, sweet salvation. Feeling much perkier, I waited with my sister. My brother-in-law called, letting us know that he had picked up his preorder already, and had preordered Zelda anyway. Finally, they allowed us in, and I led the procession over to the video games section. I paid my 50 dollar deposit, and another 5 for Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and was given my slips. My only regret is that the store I preordered from doesn't open on launch day until 10 AM. :(

Walmart out here anyways is selling the Wii at Midnight. I went up there yesterday to get the details. Aparently they can't "officially" Have a line until 8pm. I looked at the guy like he was insane. But he quickly said that they are spineless and if we come in and start the line..they are just going to go with it. He said thats what happened last year. He also said they were only getting 20. Same with the Gamestop right next door. So I think that Seeker is wrong. All the same.. looks like i'm going to be in Wal Mart for 12 f'n hours heh. Good thing is it is INSIDE the building so weather means nothing.

Of course i'm going to call wensday and ask again to see if I get the same details and what not. The only thing i'm really worried is, will they let me plug my DS in to charge? The guy also said they might have a problem with me bringing a folding chair. Meh

Lukage Nov 12, 2006 05:50 PM

If your DS is charged before you go, I see no way that you'll run of out battery power. It should last plenty long.

Our EB says that if they're allowed to do the midnight release, I'm welcome to peacefully loiter with a sign indicating I'm starting the Wii line until they close. Unfortunately at about 10PM I'd get sent outside to wait there for 2 hours. :(

Walmart flier out this weekend says the store will have a minimum of 20 units, so this sounds about right. If it were more they would have advertised more I would think.

With millions of units expected by year-end, are the Wii shipments going to come in "waves" like the Xbox 360 last year, or will there be a pretty steady trickle into stores until Xmas?

It just hit me that we won't see Goldeneye or Conkers on the Virtual Console. It's a sad revelation. ;_;

i think they are just going to remake those two or just make a whole new game of them for the wii.

FatsDomino Nov 12, 2006 08:28 PM

And I think you're full of shit. ='D

randomwab Nov 12, 2006 08:39 PM

Truth. They can't do anything with Goldeneye due to the Bond license, and even so, both are Rare games which are now under Microsoft control.

JasonTerminator Nov 12, 2006 10:16 PM

I'm pretty sure Nintendo owns the rights to Rare games made with Nintendo licenses, so we should see Donkey Kong Country and the like, at least.

Infernal Monkey Nov 12, 2006 10:23 PM

Yeah, the first DKC's already confirmed for the launch of the Euro Virtual Console thingy.

K_ Takahashi Nov 13, 2006 12:14 AM

With this recent turn of events, the timetable, and unreliability of the seeker I'll be making calls and making stops at a number of places.

I plan to finish the remaining (many) Sudoku puzzles in Brain Age, since there is next to no action = mondo battery life.

The only thing that will kill that if I get wrapped up in some Tetris multiplayer, then I will have to find a power source.

I only wish I had a folding chair, looks like its floor sweepin for me :(.

From what I've seen of the Red Steel multiplayer vid they took a lot of it from Goldeneye. Hell, thats the only reason I'm planning on picking it up.

WolfDemon Nov 13, 2006 05:25 AM

I think this is gonna be the most fun launch camping ever. I went and bought Mario Kart DS the other day just for it. I just wish they didn't have to release these consoles in fucking November. Nearly froze to death for the 360 last year.

If you have a digital camera you can just connect that to your PC and copy the videos, pics and MP3s to your SD card that way.

chaofan Nov 13, 2006 08:03 AM

Speaking of SD cards, will almost all brands of cards work (as well as all memory sizes)? I think I might get a Sandisk 2GB, but that's only because it seems "safe" to get it. My friend brought an 4GB SD for his laptop which had a card reader, only to find out it didn't read.

OMG I just realised you lucky Americans get the Wii this Friday. Goddamnit!

MuppeTFuckeR Nov 13, 2006 08:09 AM

I think I read that it's currently a 2G limit, but they could easily make it more with a firmware update.

randomwab Nov 13, 2006 08:59 AM

Has Super Metroid been offically announced for the Virtual Console? It's one of the few games I want to use the VC for.

Infernal Monkey Nov 13, 2006 09:34 AM

Not officially announced, but 99.999912% of the way there!

The ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) has already helped us confirm multiple titles expected to hit Wii early next year, and we've received an updated list just this morning.

Sunday.

Also, I dont see why a certain brand card wouldn't work.

Well, I hope all memory sizes work for the Wii b/c I got a 4gb sd card. If it turns out not to be compatible I'll be really frustrated.

K_ Takahashi Nov 13, 2006 02:34 PM

Is there a rate of when games are added (monthly, bi-monthly, ect?)

This announcement kicks the VC launch titles ass, now I can beat SMRPG after all these years and not have to worry about returning it due to renting or having a shitty emulator.

TheReverend Nov 13, 2006 02:42 PM

VC games are supposed to be added monthly according to previous Nintendo statements.
