Project #13 Jun 15, 2008 03:58 AM

For anyone that doesn't own Rogue Galaxy, cut yourself, a lot.

Just paid off Battlefield:Bad Company, FFT:a2, Spectral Force 3, Operation Darkness, Alone in the Dark, and FF IV ds. Now I am just waiting for them to come out. Also picked up all my Metal Gear collectors stuff.

Chaotic Jun 15, 2008 05:11 AM

Rogue Galaxy is worth it no matter WHAT price it is.

All else fails, wait until GameStop has a Buy 2 Used, Get 1 Used Free deal there.

Infernal Monkey Jun 15, 2008 08:23 AM

I'm currently clearing out a lot of my stuff, yet at the same time...

All the Simple Series avaliable on Sega's Why computer amusement VHS system so far. I'm so sorry. :(
Combined they cost $10 more than I paid for GTA IV, yet combined, they also have less gameplay than a cabbage.

Vol. 4's the best of the sad lot, it's a blatant Geometry Wars clone that's actually pretty fun.

As I pulled the game up on wikipedia, the front looks boring, but don't judge a game by the cover I said, as I went deeper into the plot...Lets just say I can skip that game.

I might need too look up ratings before I try to take intrest.

I'm more of a Tekken,Streetfighter,Megaman guy, so there might be some RPG's here and there but I seriously doubt this one.

So my money is on DBZ Burstlimit

Infernal Monkey Jun 15, 2008 10:12 AM

But Rogue Galaxy is a better fighting game than the Deragono Bell X Bust Lemon.

I found my copy at Wal-Mart for $19. Sometimes they actually have good stuff floating around.

xman25 Jun 15, 2008 02:14 PM

Yesterday I traded in 13 XBOX 360 games at Gamestop and got $106 in store credit. A lot more than I thought I would get. With the credit I got Medal of Honor:Airborne, The Orange Box, and Bully: Scholarship Edition. All for the 360. I still have a little over $12 in credit. I've wanted all three for a while.

When you play Rogue Galaxy, be careful not to spend too much time upgrading your weapons otherwise you'll find you've maxed them all out by chapter 7 and the rest of the game quickly becomes a rather too easy, meaningless dungeon crawl with some poor voice acting and cheesy dialogue. It's great up to that point though. I just got pretty bored once I realised I'd reached the limits of character development three quarters of the way in to the game.

Omnislash124 Jun 17, 2008 09:48 AM

Chaos Wars.

Yay for horrendous English voices! Some people need to be shot.

I went to the mall after work today to look for the Spore CC and Etrian Odyessy 2 and found zilch. I figured Spore wouldn't be out yet, but EO 2 was sold out at EB :( :( I was pretty disappointed, but I was pleased when I got home.

Secret Squirrel's package for me arrived today. He bought a copy of Brave Story: New Traveller (PSP) for me at the GameStop sale for half the price it usually costs. At least I got one new game to play.

nazpyro Jun 17, 2008 10:20 PM

Once again, my somewhat-monthly video game purchases update. Actually, a little less than month since my last one, but that's because this one's huge...

http://images.sanemonkey.com/gff/mgs4leps3.jpg

The Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition PlayStation 3 Bundle, thus bringing another member of Team OLDK to Team Triple. It came with a Gun Metal Gray PS3, Gray DualShock 3 wireless controller, and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition video game. The PS3 is the 40GB model, so it does not play PS2 games; but I took that into account when deciding to get it. I'm gonna be keeping my PS2 anyway, and I'd rather play them with 100% compatibility rather than having my games emulated. Plus, maybe I'll finally get around to modding it sometime. I also like how the Sony Playstation 3 can access my [Microsoft] Windows Media Server, but my Microsoft Xbox 360 cannot. =/

Accompanying the PS3, I got Ninja Gaiden Sigma since I never played the Xbox versions. Then I can play Ninja Gaiden II soon. I also got an extra [black] DualShock 3 wireless controller to do 2P, the HDMI Cable and USB 2.0 Cable Pack for the godlike 1080p on my 61" widescreen LED DLP HDTV :tpg:, and the Blu-Ray Disc Remote Control. Of course, I had to get some Blu-Ray movies as well... doesn't belong here but: I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness, Hancock preview (that's a lot of Will Smith...), and the Planet Earth series, the only true reason to own a PS3. =p

It was a Sony spree for me because I also got the PSP Limited Edition Daxter Entertainment Pack. This came with an Ice Silver PSP, Daxter video game, Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection, and a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo. I also got Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, which I hope to start soon, as well as a bunch of UMD cases and a PSP case for the go.

I also got several big name name Xbox 360 titles since I was late to the party and all: BioShock, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War Collector's Edition, and Devil May Cry 4. Now, I'm not caught up with the Devil Mary Cry series; so I had to get, for the PS2, the Devil May Cry: 5th Anniversary Collection, which contained Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition. Whew!

Those floods in Iowa... yeah, my bad. Oh, and there are several pre-orders too, but I'll include them next time after I get them. This month's been a lil bit money. :3:

Helloween Jun 18, 2008 12:04 PM

Not sure how the hell i'll follow up the above post with this, but i might as well give it a shot.

Two (previously Three) friends and I have taken to playing co-op in 4 player hack and slash adventure games. We played Hunter: The Reckoning for a bit of last year, but then one of our team members decided to pussy out, and refused to play anymore. With the possibility of new students being as nerdy as we are, we hope to replace him early on in the year, and finish the game. I also have a copy of Hunter: The Reckoning: Wayward, which is supposed to be pretty terrible, but hey, it'll be good times no matter.

I also finally managed to get a copy of Gauntlet: Dark Legacy today. I rented this game once a long time ago, and loved it. One of my buddies has played this game alot in the past as well, and we've wanted to play it together for a while now. That same friend saw it at EB, and told me about it. Why he didn't buy it is beyond me, but whatever. I raced over and claimed it. It's sitting in my room now, just two months until i can pop it in and relive this game that everyone seems to hate, but i love (basically another Castlevania 64 all over again).

Django! Jun 18, 2008 01:00 PM

I didn't buy it, but I won a copy of Tenchu Z.

ComradeTande Jun 18, 2008 01:04 PM

metal gear metal gear numnumnum. after getting to the fifth part, my bf saved over my game and now i have to start all over, but i'm gonna take it as a sign that i need to play through ALL of them before beating 4. Including metal gear (our copy of 3 has both metal gears on them). So, wish me well QQ

If you liked the first Hunter game it shouldn't be that bad, though I will admit it's not as good as the first one. It's mainly because of the player limitations if you ask me, though (I played the first game with three people as well, but Wayward only allows for two players), not any shortcomings of the game itself.

NinjaguyDan Jun 18, 2008 03:57 PM

Just got the CD version of Gabriel Knight off of amazon, it came surprisingly quick so I'm pretty happy. I've always been the adventure game goon and this one ranks pretty high on alot of lists. Not to mention the abandonware versions are all bugged so you can't actually beat the game ^_^

Can I just say Amen. <3 that game. Least past the first couple stages.

Chaotic Jun 26, 2008 07:55 PM

Ok, so I lied to myself again and bought another game. Completely worth it though.

The World Ends With You. Bought it used at Gamespot for 32 bux.

Contracts Jun 27, 2008 12:36 AM

I bought quite a few games,

Warpath - Xbox $1
I played this on PC ages ago and even though it was a Unreal Tournament clone I didn't mind it. The Xbox version is pretty much the same, and for a dollar I could care less.

Dead Or Alive Xtreme 2 - 360 $5
Awful awful game, I thought seeing as it was brand new (and five dollars) and judging it's "questionable" content it might be a decent game. I played about a half hour and boob's (horrible looking ones at that) don't make up for a lackluster experience.

Stranglehold - 360 $5
One of those games I was going to purchase ages ago (even when it was sixty-dollars) but fell under my radar as newer games were coming out. I beat it already and am determined to conquer it on the harder difficulties. Well worth the little bit of money I spent on it, the gun-play while initially looking as if it was a Max Payne rip off, more then secured it's spot with it's unique stylization and incredibly destructible environments.

Project Sylpheed - 360 $5
Comically, the five dollar price tag granted it's spot in my collection as I ignorantly assumed it was a Japanese RPG. So I thought "well, I'll get around to this later in the summer as a time waster", I decided to briefly try it much different then I expected. Had all the aspects of a JRPG but turned out to be a space shooter; I played the game for an hour or so and it was pretty decent I enjoyed the power ups however the control's felt a bit tricky.

Vampire Rain - 360 $5
I knew what I was purchasing and five dollars for a game didn't bother me. I had to see the game for myself after seeing all the negative press, and while not AS bad as I had heard and seen It's still an awful game. But for five dollars I couldn't go wrong (yes, I had more fun with this then DOAX2).

Splinter Cell Double Agent - 360 $10
Haven't gotten around to playing this yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Wii version and I had seen that this is a different game (story lines, objective) set in the same world as the Wii version so I felt ten dollars was a bargain.

Rainbow Six Vegas - 360 $15
One of those games I always intended to purchase but never got around to it. Played quite a bit of this game when it came out and I really enjoyed it, have yet to get around to playing this but I look forward to later this summer.

Battlefield Bad Company - 360 $60
I loved the demo, and had been looking forward to this game for a long time. Played about four hours into the single player mode and I love the destruction so far, the sound is also incredible. I bought this based on the Multiplayer aspect of course, but I want to finish the single player first, definitely a great game so far.

Keep in mind, most of these purchases are based off of trade in's to EB Games. Which on a surprising level didn't really rip me off that bad as I got either around the same for what I payed (losing a few dollars in some cases) for the game in store credit or I got more then I payed for in store credit.

Dark Nation Jul 1, 2008 12:33 AM

Not much to mention here, but I picked up Etrian Odyssey II last week and the game's been fun. I never was a fan of Dungeon crawlers, but I guess this is the exception to that, (along with Vagrant Story).

No. Hard Pass. Jul 1, 2008 12:35 AM

Etrian Madden 09 Odyssey II picked up.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced Lulz 2 picked up.

Summon Night Twin age picked up.

All three placed on the shelf, probably not to be touched in months. BACKLOG!

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jul 2, 2008 07:45 AM

I bought Final Fantasy Tactics The War of the Lion for Playstation Portable yesterday, second hand from GAME for the ridiculously bargainous price of £10.50 (Having got £2.50 off with loyalty points). Sadly, I've not used my PSP for months and I can't find the charger anywhere so until I find it or get a replacement, I'm stuck playing Pokemon on the train to work. :(

Freelance Jul 2, 2008 07:54 AM

Ah I guess it's time for another update. Finally got Etrian Odyessy 2 and am currently on the 12th floor. I hate dungeon crawlers but this one is awesome. It's because I can draw my own map right in the game. I love that feature.

Also got Lego Indy for the Wii. The 2 player mode is quite fun although we die a lot, she more than me. I end up getting all the money 'cause she'd just end up losing them all from dying all the time.

Oh, and I have the Spore CC, although that really isn't a game.

WolfDemon Jul 2, 2008 11:30 AM

Over the last week and a half or so, I've picked up Orange Box and Spore CC for PC, Streets of Rage 2 and N+ for Live Arcade, and I finally got around to buying Rock Band and Mass Effect, both for 360. I realized the other day that I can't stand Halo anymore, so I traded all three in along with a few others and got Mass Effect and 1600 M$ points, only paying about $3 out of pocket. Definitely traded up, I'd say.
