The new official release date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl in the United States is February 10, 2008, according to information announced at a Nintendo meeting event currently in progress in San Francisco.

Uhhh... I have no quote. I'm just going by memory so it might have been that bogus radio show. I don't know. I've kept hearing over and over that he's said that though.

That would be kind of interesting but it would be hard to keep track of and it might futz you up if you went over to someone else's house and their Mario felt completely different when you played as him. The Mii idea applies well to this since you can carry your Miis around with you and act like a profile of sorts when you go to use other people's systems. I don't think people would have too much issue with one character being different on every system but if it was all the characters that probably won't sit well.

That idea might work well as an odd sort of handicap mode though.

Kanzaki Oct 12, 2007 12:12 AM

It would be cool if Bomberman and Megaman make it. And well I thought Sonic wouldn't work very well but he is in.

Oh and the individual intros, I loved them and I'm happy they are back, even when some of them are too dull (Sonic or Link [I prefer the master sword one]).

Samus Final Smash, is not that good, at least Mario wasn't too far from the edge and the damage was just 44%, it looks prettycool though. And ZSS is awesome , and was it me or she was voiceless. And the Dark Link "announcement" is great, so that means we will get more "characters" ala Daisy in Melee, I hope those alternates get a few different animations or moves. (Yes, I know I'm asking too much)

Zakiller2000 Oct 12, 2007 02:01 AM

February 10th? Fucking hell.

With that said, tonight's update is about Snapshots. Yeah. Also, there will be a playable version at the E for All convention, with limited character selection (I'd really like to see a video with a fight between Lucas and Snake.).

About Snapshots though, you can take them while the game is paused now, so you can actually have 4 people fight at the same time without on controller being for the camera. You can also save the snapshots to the Wii (obviously) or an SD Card if you've got one.

You can also send snapshots to people that you've registered as friends for Nintendo WFC play.

Of course, there's still stuff that needs to be kept secret, a feature that is still in development.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._071012g-l.jpg

Apparently, he apologizes in advance if that feature is dropped.

Kanzaki Oct 12, 2007 02:08 AM

"Uh, as for that thing that’s blurred out, that’s still a secret. We’re still in development, so I apologize in advance if it gets dropped, but we are thinking of one more trick for this mode." each time Sakurai sounds less convincing :(

Well at least we can take snapshots at the middle of the battle.

Conan-the-3rd Oct 12, 2007 02:39 AM

oh great, they're playing the "Release date? what release date?" shit on us in the UK side of things

God damnit nintendo, get the awesome you got when you released Zelda OOT

kuttlas Oct 12, 2007 03:00 AM

Laughing on line at the omission of release date for Pal region countries. The Grinch already stole Christmas from America, might as well steal next Halloween from Europe as well.

Oh and there's a snapshot mode so you can take upskirt photos of Peach without a capture card now, hooray

Conan-the-3rd Oct 12, 2007 03:09 AM

I WILL DEFEAT THE GRINCH OF LANGUAGES! I WILL PEARCE THE RELEASEDEATES WITH MY DRILL< DAMN YOU ANTI-SPRIALS!¬!!!!!!!!10132912er!

And with that, I fell a lot better.

And yes, camera mode that has an actaul point, woot.
I gotta wonder if Camera Mode on Mellee was anticipating that whole SD card addaptor that they had in the wings?

Zakiller2000 Oct 12, 2007 05:55 AM

Does anyone beside me want to hear a little about some of the old characters? Newcomers are almost outnumbering Veterans in terms of announcements, and I'd like to see announcements for Ness and Captain Falcon sometime soon.

Also, got my Gamecube back, so I'll be playing Melee for a while. xD

Diversion Oct 12, 2007 09:08 AM

I wonder if the blanked out box involves any sort of recorded modes, such as sending a fight sequence.

Wall Feces Oct 12, 2007 09:38 AM

My only issue is that it forces you to pause the game in the middle of the action to take a picture... Too bad you can't just open up a replay and take a snapshot that way.

He's just a very humble man, dude. That's how he is. =/

Diversion, I think you might be on to something there. Nintendo's done ghost data for Mario Kart forever. I can't imagine it being that difficult to do something similar for Smash Bros. I can't think of anything else.

Yeah, so this was posted on the official site today:

Today I have some good news and some bad news. Let's get the bad part out of the way first, shall we?

As many of you may have already heard, we have had to delay the launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl by just a little bit—it will now be launching on February 10th in the Americas. I know that many of you will be disappointed by this news, but please understand that the extra development time will enable us to make the game the best it can be. It is my earnest hope that you will all be enjoying this game for many years, and we are all working very hard toward that goal.

Phew. Now for some good news to tide you over.

The forthcoming E for All event will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center beginning October 18.

And it appears that this event will display the first ever public playable version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl! I am planning on having people play the game—but with limited character selection.

The problem is Sonic. What to do... I suppose if we’re going to all this trouble, perhaps we should make him playable.

Oh, yes. And for those of you who come to play, please remember—you tap the Control Stick to do Smash attacks.

Have fun!
Anyone going to the E for All event in Los Angeles? I sure I could go.

Exactly. Pausing in the middle of a fight to take a picture is ridiculous. The majority of good picture opportunities will more than likely be ruined because they only last an instant. By the time that you think "That would be cool to have a screenshot of" the moment will have already passed by and it will be too late. It will basically make you have to manufacture good screen shots and will drastically cut down on great impromptu shots.

They should take a cue from Halo 3's theater mode and save replay's of previous matches. I know the memory space on a Wii is substantially less than the 360's, but it should be fine if you only saved the last match. I wouldn't think one match would take up a terrible amount of space.

How do you think people got screenshots of games in the past before the whole Theatre mode thing that Halo 3 has? :erm:

I mean it's not like how the minute one nice thing comes from a game that every other game made after that one would have it.

Dekoa Oct 13, 2007 08:38 PM

HAHAHAHAH. Even though there was no update today I've got a major MAJOR UPDATE.

As we all know, the E for Everyone event was held recently with an official Demo of SSBB. With that I give you SO MANY CONFIRMATIONS THAT YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT!!!!

if only I could embed videos, but I don't know how.

Sooo Goodness!!!!

Its pretty easy, at least with youtube videos:

[youtube] [/ youtube] (Without the space)

And of course, you would insert the video URL in between.
After doing that, this is the result:

YouTube Video

Krelian Oct 14, 2007 05:14 AM

E For All hasn't happened yet. I think that video was from Nintendo's autumn (fall, what the fuck) event.

Metal Sphere Oct 14, 2007 07:49 AM

Gameplay info from someone who played Brawl over at Nintendo's media event.

Here are a few highlights:

Metallic birds? Well, I would say Skarmory, but the colors don't make any sense.

Must be Latios and Latias.

FatsDomino Oct 14, 2007 07:43 PM

Oh my, I didn't expect Sin & Punishment. Treasure love is very nice. =)

Cheezeman3000 Oct 15, 2007 02:26 AM

Ok, this new stage = teh AWESOME :).
Finally, a huge stage announced! And it's Lucas's stage, right?

immp Oct 15, 2007 02:45 AM

it is indeed! Its just missing that hilarious cave from the temple. I loved bouncing people around in that place. Gonna miss that.

FatsDomino Oct 15, 2007 02:45 AM

Cheezeman, I guess you could say it is. I'd say that it's more like Porky/Pokey's stage. But yes that is from Mother 3. Oh, I do wonder how they're gonna explain the name change if they include him in the game as a boss. I'm sure the Starmen.net gang are up in arms about spoiler crap. Stage looks interesting and the background is very busy. Makes me wonder what Mother 3 and hell the rest of the Mother games would have looked like remade in 3d. I'd totally buy that but heck we need Mother 3 over here RIGHT NOW so whatevz.

The_Griffin Oct 15, 2007 03:01 AM

THANKS FOR SPOILING MOTHER 3 FOR ME SAKURAI
