31st 31st 31st YOU FOOL.

I don't like how my EB Games doesn't get it until November 1st. =/

Soldier Sep 23, 2006 02:14 PM

Unless my calendar is mistaken, there is no 31st in September. Thus, October 1st=30 days until the 31st.

but don't quote me on that, my math is horrible

liuu Sep 23, 2006 04:10 PM

Doesn't the game come out on October 31st?

Spatula Sep 23, 2006 06:05 PM

Which is what I've said. SOLDIER, why the hell start celebrating October 1st? It'd be the same thing as celebrating now =/.

::is confused::

At any rate, let's not turn this into a grade 1 class about time and seasons.

~COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS WITH CASEY KASEM~

It's 36 days left not "30" days left lol. Though, what's happening prior to the game's launch. Is that event in New York's Time Square; DigitalLife pavilion. Which, fans get to sample the final (retail) version of the game. As compared to the version in E3 '06.

Weeklan Sep 25, 2006 06:05 PM

Anyone think this game will get leaked early? *is hoping*

Additionaly, if anyone here is going to that FFXII event in NYC, you must swipe a copy, rip and then upload it for the rest of us! (DONT FORGET TO SEED!)

Spatula Sep 25, 2006 06:33 PM

Nah, I'm all for actually getting a real deal copy in my hands come Hallowe'en. I'm guessing it's going to be one of those "must have PS2" games that's going to be popping up on reviews so mind as well join in the fun! ^__^.

What I meant to say is that it feels more dramatic waiting until October 1st to celebrate. You know, 30 days being an even number and all that. But anyway...

Not me, unfortunately. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, and on Halloween day I like to immerse myself in horror marathons and trick or treaters. I'd be much happier if I could get FFXII a week early, and Gamestop mentioned that they would receive copies around that time, but not sell them.

EDIT: EGM's scores are in.

Quote:

Final Fantasy XII 8.5 9 9.5
For a game that has scored a perfect 10 and a ton of praise, this is just awful. I knew EGM's been strict with their scores lately, but giving an 8.5 to a numbered FF title is just depressing.

Something from TGS-A few shots of the finished and painted prototypes for the FFXII Play Arts line of figures:

My wallet just came. Thanks Simo for the pics. God damn, why oh why did I order so many Macross plastic kits ;___;.

I find Vaan's to be the most "toyish" since you can see the arm joints the most, whereas the others can really be nice display pieces. Still, hot damn, these are probably 3800 yen each after seeing the prices of the other FF figures.

I like how a guy at the counter mentioned those scores when I preordered it which I was like "naw nigga, I'll just go by Famitsu".

Soldier Sep 26, 2006 08:32 PM

God, that Judge <3. I hope they make figures of the other Judges (and Basch).

Any word when those figures will be available? I would love to buy one or two the same day as the game.

Balthier already has a figure unless you mean Basch? I'd imagine they'll be available either around the release of the NA version or shortly afterwards now that they've got the paint jobs down on all the figures. They're probably manufacturing them now as we speak.

Spatula Sep 26, 2006 09:46 PM

Basche for the win. How handsome can you get. Seriously. Although figures tend to screw around with the look of the face, and can make it or break it.

Also waiting for Penelo.

Me, being the sick minded utensil, will probably first thing flip Ashe's figure upside down and see what goods I can find.

Soldier Sep 26, 2006 09:49 PM

Yes, I meant Basch. I second a Pennelo figure too.

EGM has been on a downard-toilet-shit-spiral for years now. It's not half the magazine it used to be in the past. (I mean that both figuratively and literally) Now I'm not saying that FFXII is an absolute perfect game-especially since I haven't played it. However, EGM's reviews should be one of the last places to go to (if go to at all) to evaluate the quality of such a high profile, yet unorthodox RPG.

CuteChocobo Sep 27, 2006 02:32 AM

Indeed 8.5 is a bit too low. Remember in the past all FF games have been rated as "Perfect" mark on EGM... maybe because of the readers pressure on stricker game review? I remember EGM and PS2M both got complaint from gamers about biasing in their review... so I guess that what might have happend!

Cobalt Katze Sep 27, 2006 04:02 AM

Or maybe the reviewer just had some nitpicks with it. I mean, we all have personal opinions on stuff. 8.5 is still a high score, and I can imagine why someone might be put off by some things in the game depending on their tastes. The point of EGM's 3-pronged rating system is to get a good survey of opinions, so the fact that it also got a 9 and a 9.5 means it's still fine.

And yeah, I know Famitsu's rating system is 4-pronged, but that's four people out of a lot. And EGM's 3 more people out of a lot. No use getting worked up over it.

Personally, I'd look at the words, not numbers.

wait isn't the average score still 9? WTF are their 3 numbers? (8.5 and 9 and 9.5)

true, but I live in EU so I'mma download it. (like a fool I paid for the demo version way back, so that money should've been rightfully used for the full game)

rpgcrazied Sep 28, 2006 12:41 PM

Anyone know if the regular version, will be boxed.. with the dvd case?

Kinda like DQ8 was?

Andrew Evenstar Sep 28, 2006 01:07 PM

An 8.5 is a bit low. I beat the game in jap when it came out and I would give it a 9. It's a great game, awesome cut scenes, great graphics, characters & music. I've played every Final Fantasy and I don't think it matches 4, 6,7, or 8's greatness but it's right there.

Spatula Sep 28, 2006 01:13 PM

I'm glad the LE walkthrough guide will be released sometime near or on October 20th, so it should still give me some time to get it before getting the game, therefore I've have both the guide and the game with me while I play. Still, strange though that all the EB Games in my city don't have a SKU for it. Seriously it's only like 23 some days away, they better have some sort of inventory id for it. >_>

AMEN BROTHER:biggrin:

Only a few weeks left:)

Simo Sep 29, 2006 06:22 PM

New update on the official NA site (finally) includes the cast of characters and their VAs which is as follows:
Bobby Edner as Vaan
Kari Walgren as Ashe
Cat Taber as Panelo
Gideon Emery as Balthier
Nicole Fantl as Fran
Keith Ferguson as Basch

The rest of the site is pretty much accessible now including the wallpapers and some new ones.

OPM also gave the game a 10/10 making it the GOTM.

Andrew Evenstar Sep 30, 2006 12:32 AM

You guy are going to love the Feywood. I love that place.
