Smash+B: Get eaten by ugly fish.

On that note I seriously hope the Ice Climbers don't return.

Acro-nym Sep 24, 2006 09:11 AM

But the Ice Climbers are so much fun!

Some things they could consider for Bomberman (from Wikipedia):

Boot/Bomb Kick - Allows Bomberman to kick dropped bombs out of the way. Cancels out Bomb Pass.

Mitts/Power Glove - Bomberman can pick up and throw bombs over walls and obstacles for short distances.

Mine - Transforms Bomberman's bombs into mines... it won't explode until any player, including the one who placed it, steps over it.

Detonator/Remote Control - Allows Bomberman to explode his bomb at will.

Line Bomb - Allows Bomberman to drop all of his available bombs in a row in the direction he is facing.

Cherry Bomb - A red bomb more dangerous when powered up.

Evil - Initiates a stage-wide and temporary hazard. Hazards include: a size-changing disease for everyone, an obscuring disco light, an object-tossing tornado, a random player position swap that occurs periodically, randomly being stunned, maximum-strength bombs for everyone, and forcing everyone to pick up and throw anything they come across, including powerups.

MTGNecro Sep 24, 2006 05:19 PM

I dunno, that just seems a bit too powerful to me. I mean, what is to stop you from just laying a bunch of mines everywhere?

I think what needs to be done is you need to remove the remote detonation, and there needs to be a limit to the number of mines you can lay...

J-Man Sep 24, 2006 10:01 PM

Or don't use Bomberman, and admit that it was a bad idea.

A actually agree with Josh on this one.

PsychoJosh Sep 25, 2006 12:19 AM

Snake's the character with all the explosives now, anyways. Bomberman can just sit there and cry.

Slight update.

Sakurai has confirmed that the Wiimote won't be used during normal play.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/737/737632p1.html

Well, whatever. How on earth would you use that to play Smash Bros. anyways? Flick your wrist to make your character jump? That's stupid. I can't picture any way to play it with the Wiimote that wouldn't be utterly gimmicky.

I'm guessing they're only going to use it for making menu choices and possibly turning the knob on the trophy machine.

FatsDomino Oct 10, 2006 02:08 PM

Probably for short mini games or something and menus. Why not.

No, he confirmed that the motion sensing feature of the remote won't be used in normal play, he was responding to whether Smash Bros would take advantage of the special functionality of the Wii remote. A lot of people seemed to think that you're required to use the GCN controller (Not saying you were one of them) when that IGN interview came out, but Sakurai never said this. Hell, it was the use of the GC controller that he was hinting at in the first IGN interview.

But yeah, I agree that lack of motion sensing isn't an issue here - I do think that Smash Bros could work on the Wii controller, though. It wouldn't be very comfortable I imagine, but it'd work.

They should introduce Opa-Opa from Fantasy Zone as a character. He would have his blaster as primary weapon and twin bombs as secondary. For blocking I guess the shield globe item should be displayed around him. Double jump would make him fly for a short time. Maybe his mega could summon a mega Opa-Opa, the final boss from Fantasy Zone Gear?

Yeah I know it's Sega but he's still one of the major icons in game history like Alex Kidd and Sonic. If not then just cameo him to death like they do in most games (latest was Sonic Riders).

Cobalt Katze Oct 18, 2006 05:34 PM

Just wanted to mention... Fantasy Zone rocked so much :D I played the hell outta that back in the day. So trippy.

ApOcaLyPSe_1985 Oct 19, 2006 03:48 AM

Even more trippier on the right stuff :D but yeah it's still is a wonderful game and remains to be one of my favorites. I found out yesterday that they re-released or remade it for the PS2... only saw the cover though. Hope it pokes enough interest to revive him.

EDIT: OMFG it's a remake of the unreleased Space Fantasy Zone for PC-Engine!!!1 Happy days :D

What's that? Is that like Twinbee? Twinbee would be less obscure, they should put him in instead. I mean, at least he has arms...

ApOcaLyPSe_1985 Oct 19, 2006 05:08 PM

Twinbee is actually related to Opa-Opa, they come from the same world or something like that... it would be cool to have him in the game. It would be better and more awesome to have a uber-customisable-character-creator supplied with SSBB since they wouldn't have place to fill all those requests anyways. With a inbuilt 3D modeling program and some kind of PC-to-Wii interactivity with the usage of the SD media, it would be even greater, but I guess something like that will only remain a dream :)

Who knows, Nintendo might release bonus content with new characters on WiiConnect24 frequently or maybe just save it up for a huge add-on that needs to be bought :P

That's the worst idea I've ever heard.

"Hey guys I know this is an all-star fighting game, but just for the hell of it let's make this like SoulCalibur 3 and put in a lame-ass CHARACTER CREATOR so people can try to make characters from other video games but give up on it halfway and instead just start making their own crappy, poorly designed characters that aren't from any game whatsoever. This won't ruin the game or turn it into a shitty M.U.G.E.N. clone at all!! I can't wait to battle online with Timmy from Manhattan and his shitty, asymmetrical stick-figure looking character that's supposed to be Sephiroth!! ALSO, I AM FUCKING STONED OUT OF MY MIND WHEEE!!!"

Quoted for truth. The backbone of SSB series is to play with cross-title nintendo characters. I dunno about you, but I see no point in having Kirby kick some guy I don't even know's ass. Next to being damn near impossible, it defeats the main purpose of SSB.

Yeah, now I look back at it that way it really is the worst idea ever :D Ppl could flood the game with anything like horrible FF characters, Zergs and Master Chiefs... it would no longer be a Nintendo game with all that madness. I thank you sirs for bringing me back to my senses.

PsychoJosh Oct 22, 2006 05:03 AM

They wouldn't even be any game characters at all. I picture just a bunch of retards from deviantart would flood their rosters with crappy goth anime girl characters that they made, and give them super cheap attacks or giant swords.

Sin Ansem Oct 23, 2006 09:06 AM

A recent snippet in EGM claims that a recent interview with Shiggy Miyamoto that the man believes Sonic would be the perfect addition to Brawl.

Take that as any way you wish.

Omnislash124 Oct 23, 2006 12:30 PM

lol....

Wouldn't Sonic just beam back and forth across the stage? I couldn't see him doing anything else. I suppose something like Sonic 3 where you pick up a Fire power up and become a fireball. I wouldn't do it because I'd probably fly off the stage more than stay on. I suppose his recovery move would be the Lightning Pick-UP Double Jump? I dunno, just seems somewhat wierd.

Dopefish Oct 23, 2006 12:45 PM

The best character to equate Sonic to then would probably be Jigglypuff (see Rollout). Super Smash move would probably involve Super Sonic. Anything beyond that...

Sin Ansem Oct 23, 2006 01:12 PM

If you think Sonic fails at using fighting moves, I would like to point out Sonic the Fighters or Sonic Battle.

SuperSonic Oct 23, 2006 05:16 PM

True, true. Sonic can fight just as well as anyone on the Smash Bros. roster. If they put Sonic in Brawl, then you've got a winning roster no matter who you put in there. If they don't then I sure hope they keep Roy in there.

Did they ever give a month of when Brawl would be released next year? For some reason, March is sticking in my mind.

Sin Ansem Oct 23, 2006 06:14 PM

Doubt March. Diamond/Pearl is likely to come out that month.

Omnislash124 Oct 23, 2006 06:20 PM

Wait, I thought it was March? It used to be launch, but not anymore....I thought March was the date they pushed it back to?
