My thoughts exactly. I guess SquareEnix wouldn't be as jumpy on this since it would help raise the hype, almost a free advertising in a way.

the logo is nice, it would be better as a watermar or something in the front cover, dont you think?

I'm not sure about the places near you, but the EBGames here said the Limited Edition is Pre-Order only, and won't be stocked.

.....I swore I'd never pay $60 for a game ever. Damn me for betraying myself.

chocomarker1 Sep 20, 2006 06:17 AM

are there any piano collections planned for this yet?

Zeta26 Sep 20, 2006 04:07 PM

Oh, I'm pretty sure. As they did Piano Collections from FFIV-FFX-2. Which's good as I like listening to these type of OSTs as well.

I hate how they make us wait forever for a simple release date. Christ knows what they have to gain from making us suffer intolerable American hype over and over without even a mention of the rest of the world.

I was pretty mad when they made us wait 11 months for X-2 and then threw in a crap art book with about 3 pages worth of cardboard wallpaper cutout desktops to try and placate us for treating us like shit.

Soldier Sep 21, 2006 02:23 AM

It beats the consolation bonus they gave us after an 8 month delay for Advent Children. Oh wait, we didn't get a bonus, we just lost some extras (Last Order). :tpg:

So no EB Games in Ecuador hey?

Guess not ;__;
Now it's EB(ay) time.

I don't know if anybody from anywhere outside of America besides Shin actually reads this thread, but I just found this link on another board.

While the optimisation is nice, it's pretty hard to justify making us spend at least 2 or 3 months trying desperately to avoid spoilers from 13 year olds on the internet.

Okay, so now I may have to pre-order it. However, I refuse to do so unless I know exactly what is IN the damn thing that's not in the normal guide. For ten bucks more, it had better be worth it!

Spatula Sep 21, 2006 09:51 PM

I think the major "improvement" in the cover art justifies perhaps $5 more, then the extras such as the trailers and development footage would tack on the other $5. If this "Collectors Edition" was available through all stores and retail, then I probably wouldn't bother too much, however since it's limited in quantity, then I mind as well get my hands on it now then having to pay a ridiculous sum on Ebay, all which I could have avoided by just paying an extra $10. What is that, like a dinner for three at McDonalds, right?

Freelance Sep 21, 2006 10:05 PM

There's trailers and developmental footage IN the book?

Inhert Sep 21, 2006 10:24 PM

no he's talking about the collector edition of the game... I think he misunderstood you, you were talking aboute the limited edition of the strategy guide no?

Spatula Sep 21, 2006 10:45 PM

Sorry for the confusion.

I was talking about the LE Game, however, I do not have much information on the LE guide itself, lest even a SKU by my local EB Games.

Freelance Sep 21, 2006 11:35 PM

Yes! The guide, the guide! What does the guide include!

Anyone know? I'm not about to pay 10 bucks more for a guide with a different cover!

It's really odd that the extra contents of the LE guide are still a mystery. I wonder if they'll ever officially reveal the contents rather than just letting consumers find out when they buy it by reading the back of LE guide.

Spatula Sep 22, 2006 02:01 AM

At the very least, the covers will match with the LE game ;__;

...Art book please Art book please Art book please...

They might add a little content though. If memory serves, the NTSC version of FFX didn't have Dark Aeons in, they were added in the European version (And then a rereleased Jap version I think) so the wait might be worth it, you never know...

I get it now. They want you to pay/pre-order it without letting you know the contents beforehand, just to increase the hype, and they KNOW people will pre-order it anyway just because. It's all a big scam, see? :D For all we know, it will just have the different cover without anything extra!

IGN has a good interview up with Akitoshi Kawazu, the executive producer on FFXII along with Hideo Minaba and Akihiko Yoshida:
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/734/734868p1.html

Interesting details includes the confirmation of 16:9 widescreen support for the NA version along with all new scenes that were cut from the original version due to the Japanese rating board.

Spatula Sep 23, 2006 10:11 AM

Scenes cut due to the Japanaese rating board?. I mean, well, all Final Fantasies I've seen so far are T (teen) - rated, for the ages of 13 to 17, I think. What is this, PENELO COFFEE or something?
They might add some gore to it, this is war, after all.
I wish I could get happy about the 16:9 support, but I just have a regular TV, so 4:3 for me. =/

I think it's likely that they would be scenes pertaining to the violence in war. Frankly, I'm pleased that they would put this extra work into the NA release of FFXII.

Soldier Sep 23, 2006 12:07 PM

So Xenosaga Episode III has its violence toned down for NA, due to the fear of getting an M, while FFXII has its violence increased, yet still maintains a T rating.

What a country. :/

Spatula Sep 23, 2006 12:10 PM

No no, Loli fans just saw less of Momo's whities.

And with that note.

T MINUS 39 days

Soldier Sep 23, 2006 12:27 PM

Worse than that, all blood was removed. Characters who were dramatically impaled or shot are left squeeky clean.

And don't start celebrating until October 1st (30 days left).
