So how possible would it be to build a character who focussed on wrestling moves? I was thinking that gnome who used to be a pro-wrestler before moving into acting in pornos would make a good character. Are there any character classes that have any specific unarmed moves and beyond the general grapple rule there's not really any rules for stuff like wrestling moves is there?

Also, I am right in thinking Barbarian attacks are primal powers aren't I? If not and the ring is meant for Garold or GFZ then I'll change my post and they can have it.

Edit: I checked, it's appropriate for me, Slim or Garold. I'm keeping it then, pushing things around and prone is quickly becoming Beefi's style of choice.

Also, has anyone got a handy transfer enchantment scroll? Some of the swords have got decent effects on them but we don't need four swords between us.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 22, 2011 08:21 PM

There's a whole fighter build basically designed for wrestlin' dudes; Brawler Fighter. Free grabs at-will, chokeholds as encounter powers, curbstomp as a daily. Cold-cock dragons e'erday.

The ring isn't really "for" anybody in specific; I stopped doing that once I decided to use inherent bonuses to fix the balance problems instead. But yeah Barbarians (and Seekers) are Primal.

Also it's much too high level for you to seriously expect you'll be able to keep it.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 22, 2011 08:38 PM

Aw, it's not that powerful, especially since I'm not using a magic weapon so the main effect is nullified. Of course the underwater property of that sword stuck on my axe would be a perfect complement for when I'm travelling around on my riding shark. I guess that opening riddle did say something about a ring though and I was a touch surprised you were leaving 17 grand's worth of ring in the bottom of a chest. Heh, if Beefi wasn't so honest (And was played by Zerg) he'd probably fuck off back the way they came and keep the ring rather than finishing the quest.

If Wvlf's going to take another between-fights hiatus, can we just take it as read that someone has stuffed the last sword in his pack and we're dragging him along on the end of a rope or something?

Why yes, how fortunate. That greedy bastard Zerg does have the tendency to abandon fallen allies, hoard valuables, and appropriate every single treasure that is found.

Alright, alright, let's not bicker.

I updated your inventories and all that. Nobody specifically said they were actually wielding any of the four swords so if somebody intended to do that let me know. Otherwise you guys can feel free to do something more interesting than "I walk into a room I already looked at".

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 31, 2011 01:08 PM

I think it's pretty lucky that every puzzle type challenge we've encountered so far has had a largely "Smash things up" friendly solution. Unless of course you've adapted some otherwise more cerebral puzzles for the GFF mindset.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 31, 2011 01:51 PM

Nearly every room has an arbitrary list of methods that just don't work for no good reason (like locked doors that Knock doesn't work on), so I've gone through the whole module just painting over those lists with a correction pen more or less.

Arguably the dungeon as-written would be a lot harder but only as a consequence of being frustrating and stupid.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jan 31, 2011 04:13 PM

Hard in the way a text adventure with a crappy, small vocabulary is hard is not fun hard. I think we'd all take hard like Rourke's Drift was hard any day of the week.

I still wanna know what was on the end of my blade when it came back up.

The unmovable stubborn Jan 31, 2011 05:02 PM

A rat. You have captured a rare Intact Rat. What secrets does it hold?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 1, 2011 04:04 PM

Who's going to volunteer to climb into the hole then? You'll get first dibs on any tasty rat treats you find down there!

Soon

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 8, 2011 01:52 PM

Behave, we're mosying along pretty well for a not fighty bit at the moment. Things might go quicker if your dungeon wasn't full of secret doors and lethal traps we have to meticulously search for every step of the way.

It's actually quite a refreshing surprise though for the dungeon not to just be wall to wall zombies, although I'm fairly convinced that with a bit of searching we could have found a really easy route straight to the end boss from the entrance to the tomb.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Feb 8, 2011 02:20 PM

We could be moving faster but I figured it might be nice to give other people a chance to act rather than just kicking down the door.

Well that and being way low on healing surges.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 8, 2011 04:26 PM

We've come pretty far without a rest for a GFF game, although I suppose we have only had two fights so far. Reckon we can get to the end in a single day? I have no idea how far in we are yet, although the progression of the riddle would suggest we're maybe halfway now.

Additional Spam:
That's going to be a pretty criminal waste of a natural 20 if the door turns out to not have been locked in the first place, Deni.

A4: IN THE DUNGEONS OF THE SLAVE LORDS Feb 12, 2011 11:17 AM

So we should be going ahead and queuing up a number of attempts at once for this right? Also I'm assuming we can use the same skill multiple times?

No. Hard Pass. Feb 12, 2011 12:23 PM

DC threshold, Pang?

The unmovable stubborn Feb 12, 2011 05:17 PM

17. Added. Dang.

No Cette, please one at a time in initiative order, things might happen on your turns depending on where you are, so!

I think this is the first challenge I've run that actually involved the map; sorry for any confusion

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Feb 12, 2011 08:47 PM

Man, that's at least five skill checks to reach safety. This has got ignomious death written all over it, I was hoping for an honourable end throwing Beefi into combat against some ridiculously over-levelled undead dragon to cover the rest of the Five's retreat or something that'd lend itself to him being re-entered once the general party reaches level 20. If I keep rolling single digits like that this won't end well. :(

GET UP ON THIS

wvlfpvp Feb 14, 2011 10:54 AM

Hey, I'm going to be out of town and away from a steady connection for the next week or so (through next Monday). Someone should take me over, and, if Pang says its possible, use my sword teleport power to move as many people down the corridor as possible.

The unmovable stubborn Feb 14, 2011 09:05 PM

Yeah, a skill challenge is still an encounter so if you guys have any powers or items that might help feel free (though the people who most need a teleport are now out of the sword's range, ha ha).

"This Fucking Module" update: the tilting hallway was originally 42 squares long

Scent of a Grundle Feb 15, 2011 12:48 AM

To be fair, it's a lot faster to just roll dice, move, roll dice, move, than it is to roll dice, wait a couple of days for your turn to come again, roll dice...
