God damn it.

I swear to fucking god if they just
Spoiler:
offed Locke
I will be IRATE.

Other than that, great episode. Now I want to know more about Ben and the ORIGINAL Others. My friend has a theory that the original Others are immortal, or they don't age. Makes sense considering Richard looked the same when Ben was a child except with long, groovy hair.

Also, $100 says Juliette = Anna.

Dopefish May 9, 2007 10:22 PM

Sass is not happy. We began watching this episode extremely happy with the Locke/Ben interaction, laughing our asses off before they left to see
Spoiler:
Jacob.
And it went downhill from there.

Spoiler:
John dying would be like a train wreck with the only every-cancer vaccine in the world on it.

Wall Feces May 10, 2007 12:32 AM

Oh man, I can't wait to hear what she thinks.

Spoiler:
My mom thinks Jacob will somehow save Locke, but I don't know... I'm super sketchy about this whole Jacob thing. It seems pretty far fetched. I dunno if you caught it, but during the part where the house shook, you can see a figure in the chair for a few frames. Ugh, I don't know, this show is going all supernatural on us.

The Plane Is A Tiger May 10, 2007 12:45 AM

I dunno, it doesn't seem too far-fetched to me.

Spoiler:
After having ghosts and magical healing since season 1, why is another ghost that actually has physical presence so hard to believe? I'm sure Locke will survive somehow too. With their ratings already slipping this season, the last thing Lost wants to do is kill off the guy who's always been the most popular character. Especially not when there are still 50 episodes remaining.

One thing I took note of, and I may be reading too much into this, was Horace. He seemed to be the man in charge of the Dharma Initiative, or at least had a lot of power. With a simple spelling switch to Horus, he could be interpreted as ruler over the land of the living while the Hostiles have close ties to the dead. I don't think this is the last we've seen of him.

Dopefish May 10, 2007 03:31 AM

Spoiler:
The whole Jacob scene was kinda funny. Sass and I were both wondering, "Is Ben REALLY that crazy?" Then he killed his father. I think he is just out of his mind.

Trigunnerz May 10, 2007 08:14 AM

I don't know if anyone noticed, but at the ditch scene,

Spoiler:
you see one of the skeletons with a bullet hole on its head. This is right after Locke crouches down. Think that had any significance?

I can't wait for the next episode.

I just re-watched that scene and managed to catch a picture of him (see attached photo)

Spoiler:

The ring of weird sand around Jacob's house denotes that he is some sort of prisoner there. It reminds me of a summoning circle that is drawn to trap the demon summoned inside. Very eery!

Okay. My computer is broken for the time being, so I had to wait until this morning to bitch and scream about Locke being shot. The entire first half of the episode, we were cheering on Locke, on and on about how AWESOME he is. How he one-upped Ben with Mikhail and all.

And then we get to the little house in the woods. OF COURSE it had to be at night so we couldn't SEE anything. But I didn't think for a second that Ben was that crazy. I mean, Locke should have known better too!

I like the obvious parallels between Ben and Locke right now. How Ben killed his own father (who treated him like shit) and demanded the same of Locke. Why would Ben do that? I mean, insist that Locke kill his own father to be more like Ben (or so I assume).

And like some of you, the FIRST thing that sprang to mind with Richard (one of the "natives" apparently) was that he did not age AT ALL. So what does that say. Hm.

Also, the name Horace has plenty of loaded implications, from Rome to Egypt. Hm.

But if they axe Locke, I may not watch anymore. Locke and Sawyer are my heroes - kill off Jack and Charlie, fine. BUT DO NOT take Locke and Sawyer. ;_; (I am pretty sure Jacob will save him though)

Don't worry, he will survive ;)

Very good episode as the rest is concerned, I was waiting for a Ben flashback for quite a time!

Did anyone else notice the Henry Gale and The Man Behind the Curtain references? Wizard of Oz, Henry Gale.....yea.

And in my anger, I read some spoilers. If you DO NOT want to know whats going to happen in the season finale, DO NOT read this:

Spoiler:
Looks like Locke will be fine. Reports are saying that there will be a showdown between Locke and Jack. Also, that the beach will divide into 2 camps: one led by Sawyer, one lead by Jack. There are conflicting reports - some say Locke will lead the camp instead of Sawyer, but either way, looks like Locke will in fact be saved - somehow. It doesn't say how.

O, here. A confirmation from Cuse:
Quote:

Exec producer Carlton Cuse offers this exclusive tease about the show's two-hour, sure-to-be-blockbuster season finale on May 22: "Let's just say the end of the season features a showdown between Jack and Locke — a showdown long anticipated and a showdown with an extremely significant outcome for the future of the castaways." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide

Also, I am hearing that the remaining 3 seasons will only have 16 episodes each (instead of the present and past 23 episodes)
Quote:

Starting with the 2007-08 season, ABC will begin airing the 48 remaining original episodes of the hit drama "Lost," it was announced today by Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. The episodes will air uninterrupted over three seasons (16 episodes each season), with the series concluding in 2009-10 with a highly anticipated and shocking finale. Source: ABC

I read somewhere that one of the reasons they're doing it like that is because of all the complaints they got this year when they took a three month break, with 6 episodes, the long wait, and then 16 more.

I'm not sure.
Spoiler:
She did arrive on the island some time after Ben, wasn't he the one that brought her to island so I think that the chances of her actually being Juliette are pretty slim. Or it could be Anna. She may have left the island when she was a child, and once Ben found out where she was and that she was a Fertility Doctor he jumped at the chance of seeing her again. Far-fetched I know, but this is Lost.
Spoiler:
It does look like that Richard hasn't aged at all. It could also be the case with Ben once the natives accepted him as one them. It looks like they were at war with the people from Dharma, and killing them was Ben's initiation into the group, granting him the immortality of the natives.

As for Jacob, I'm not sure what to make of him. But I'd have to agree about the ring of ash around his house/bunker, it seems to be a barrier stopping him from wandering the island. I think that he will save Locke though.
And why did he say "Help Me" to Locke, are the natives holding Jacob against his will? I guess that might explain the ash ring.

Spoiler:
This would explain why Ben seemed so goddamned pissed when he shot Locke. What was up with that? Immediately, I was feeling a sense of jealousy from Ben - like Ben was upset that Jacob spoke to Locke, or that Locke could hear him.

Hm. I wonder.

I'm guessing the hostiles aren't holding Jacob against his will, but rather Ben is.

Trigunnerz May 17, 2007 10:47 AM

Hmmm. Season finale next episode.

Spoiler:
So does anyone think Charlie will die? He's in pretty deep shit.

Also, during the swimming pool flashback, did anyone notice someone yelling, "Desmond come on!" right before Charlie jumps in?

Lock?! Don't die!

Musharraf May 17, 2007 10:49 AM

There are people in that underwater hatch... WHAT A FUCKING SURPRISE. Fucking idiots.

Vivace119 May 17, 2007 11:29 AM

Trigunnerz: I 've just re-watched the swimming pool flashback and you can hear a little kid saying ''Desmond, come on!'' as you said. Good Observation!

I thought this episode was ok but I was a bit annoyed that we didn't get to see the showdown this week: after all, thats what the preview last week implied.

I am fucking CONVINCED it's a colony of escaped women.

They don't want to get involved with that crazy shit going down in the city. Maybe they were women who allegedly "died" during childbirth or whatever.

Or maybe they're whats left of Dharma? Oooo, excited to know, but I realize I'll likely NEVER find out.

I think Charlie will live. But no one but the Underground Chick Brigade will know about it.

Ben's group did have a submarine in their possession and Juliet knew of the Looking Glass. Chances that they aren't associated with "the natives" are slim.

Was hoping Dharma shark would make another appearance.

Spoiler:
It did look as if the bit where Charlie appeared in The Looking Glass was big enough for the dinky sub, so I reckon that the women down there have something to do with the hostiles. Juliet did mention that Ben told her and the others that the Looking Glass was flooded, is he trying to hide something down there? Maybe the women are, as mentioned above, the women that were supposed to have died in childbirth, and for some reason or other Ben is trying to hide them from the rest of the others.

Or they could just be the last of Dharma, but then again that gas bomb that Ben left off in the last episode would have surely killed them? It did seem to cover quite a large area.

Dopefish May 23, 2007 08:19 PM

If you're not watching the show, you better start.

ArchesFan May 23, 2007 08:22 PM

I read "leaked" spoilers (I thought they were fake) of the finale that is on now....and I'm really regretting it, because it was true so far.

Dopefish May 23, 2007 09:32 PM

I clapped out loud when
Spoiler:
Hurley hit Ryan with the bus.

Soldier May 23, 2007 10:04 PM

Absolutely incredible season finale, from start to finish. Season 3 was far and away better than the slow-paced Season 2. God knows what's going to happen in Season 4.

Spoiler:
And I won't believe Charlie is dead until Season 4 confirms it.
