Hey guys is it possible to play custom created stages online with friends? =o

I'd love to show you guys one of mine. =')

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Mar 18, 2008 07:53 PM

No, no online play with customs. You can send them to people, though.

Chaotic Mar 18, 2008 08:43 PM

Finally, I managed to unlock every stage and complete a couple more challenges... Especially that Level 2 Target Smash in under 19 seconds? I didn't realize how many items I had to use for it. But Target mode is a bitch within itself. Anyone got a video on how you can complete Level 4 within that challenge time limit?

Heres the video I've been following

Yeah, finding a Game Mode setting fixed the tiny delay offline. It's not an old TV though (still relatively new, actually -- a Sony Bravia 40" HDTV).

Sad news, though. I switched to a wired connection, did all that tweaking with the port forwarding and stuff in that GameFAQs thread, and I still lag in the sense that there's a delay to everything I do. Kind of like when the TV's display wasn't switched to Game Mode, but a lot bigger. About a half second, which is plenty enough to make online brawls with friends or anyone rather rough (I tried both).

Yeth-thir, I hate my DSL. :argh:

So I finally got Wolf, making the quest for the characters complete. Still have some more challenges to get through.

One thing, how is one supposed to possibly kill 5 opponents in Cruel Brawl? I managed ONE with spamming Ike's Up+B.

There's plenty of videos explaining how to get a lot of cheaps KOs in Cruel Brawl. I actually found it harder to do the same thing with Ike's Up+B move. Then again I'm no good with Ike =p.
Here's one that's easy to follow:

Cheezeman3000 Mar 19, 2008 01:21 AM

Haha wow, I can't believe I spent like an hour and a half trying to get 5 kills in cruel brawl to no avail using Ike, when it is THAT easy with Kirby.

Slash Mar 19, 2008 01:48 AM

Its not as easy as it looks.

Chaotic Mar 19, 2008 01:58 AM

It's never as easy as it looks. This dude just gets lucky that they're not striking back. Every time I attempt something like that, I always end up getting smacked out of the stage.

Slash Mar 19, 2008 02:07 AM

I miss time it and just go straight down..it makes me laugh

Sakabadger Mar 19, 2008 02:29 AM

One method I read about (but have not tested or seen demonstrated) is using Jigglypuff and just floating underneath the stage from one end to the other. Apparently, sometimes the alloy AI is dumb enough to try and pursue you but they end up suiciding that way. Takes some time and patience (and luck?) but it's worth a try. Maybe.

Chaotic Mar 19, 2008 02:56 AM

They're always pursuing you if you go off the edge... I'll try that Jigglypuff thing though. o_o

Edit: FINALLY. 11 KOs is good enough for me in Cruel Brawl. I'm never going back to that mode again.

Also, today's update: Pokemon Encyclopedia. Speaking of which, anyone see Manaphy yet?

Identity Crisis Mar 19, 2008 03:06 AM

All I did was spam Pikachu's Smash Down + A. It works almost as well as it did back in Melee. That tactic takes a bit of timing though since the Smash attack doesn't last very long if you're not hitting something in the process.

Aw damn, that's really a waste. The levels are definitely small enough to work so I don't see why they didn't have that as a Friends feature. I had fun recreating a stage from Balloon Fight. It actually works fairly well and I hope they have one in the next game - oh and also playing custom stages online with friends too.

<3~ I had a lot of fun creating that in MSPaint. I saw so many Pikachu x Samus/ZSS pictures and decided it would be great to make an odd pixelated version myself. =)))

Monkey King Mar 19, 2008 11:02 AM

Man, you guys are gluttons for punishment. I just skipped the Cruel Melee challenge with a hammer and called it a day. Given enough time I can probably pull off the target smash challenges, but I'm not going to bother with something that's impossible to clear without 'cheating'.

What's annoying me is how many challenges are still hidden to me. I'm trying to avoid resorting to Gamefaqs, but I'm getting close to the point where I can't do any more easy challenge creeps to see the rest of the clues, and I really don't want to go around randomly doing everything on Hard hoping I'll get something by accident. Makes it hard to shoot for the stages and CDs first.

Dark Nation Mar 19, 2008 12:01 PM

See I figured killing 5 enemies in Cruel Brawl was doable, if tough (Obviously so), but there ARE some things which the hammer will be used for, such as the "Beat X Mode on Xtreme Difficulty"

THAT would be eating nonstop for self-inflicted pain.

Sakabadger Mar 19, 2008 12:18 PM

Too bad you can't use the hammers on stuff that's really likely to make you want to murder something (boss battles on intense, etc).

I've got a bunch I can contribute from a few days where 4chan had a pretty big boner for the pair.

Only once, but we were too far away from him to be affected by heart swap.

I'd like to see Mew, though. I still don't have all of the CDs.

Yes, that avatar/sig thing was epic.

Want to know something sad? I had a Pikachu/Samus partnership in a fanfic (that I'm still writing) before it was revealed that Pika and Samus were partners in SSB.

Summonmaster Mar 19, 2008 03:58 PM

As for Cruel Brawl, I have 7 with Lucas since they can't steal your PK Thunder, and it lures them off to the edge area. Problem is I only die due to a combination of an eventual misaiming and nervousness. The Zelda and Kirby frames are the most threatening with their air kick and rapid punch damage rackup/standstill, respectively.

None of those are difficult, since you can use continues and coins essentially grow on trees in this game.

I used my hammers on three of the Target Test time challenges, since I hate that sort of thing. The other two were for 15-minute melee and "Do 100-man melee with every character", since both are boring bullshit.

SuperSonic Mar 19, 2008 04:29 PM

Hate to tell you, but there are NO continues on the Boss Battles.

On the bright side, that's easier than all-star mode and classic (at least for me). It still looks like a pretty big pain, but exploiting toon link's down A or similar strategies will probably make it a lot less intimidating.
