YES! The only games I really want that they haven't released now are Secret of Mana and Breath of Fire 1.

wenchwogg Oct 6, 2008 07:48 PM

Nice - I already have the original cart for Shining Force II (and have downloaded SFI on VC already). I still have a strange urge to purchase this with my leftover Wii points in a non-probable event of letting Climax know we'd like a good Shining game from them ... i.e. Shining Force IV.

... You forgot Earthbound.

FatsDomino Oct 6, 2008 10:33 PM

Not gonna happen. They don't want any excuses to bring over Mother 3. Even at the cost of thousands of dollars of free money there is now precedent because of the success of Sin & Punishment on VC bringing about the release of its sequel.

I said what I want, not what you want. While I'm sure it's a great game, I've actually never played Earthbound. It is kinda ironic though, since they keep sticking the characters in Smash Bros.

Ah, but the ESRB has updated rating information for Earthbound, considering that it says "Wii" under Platform.

I realize I'm being naive.

Since the Wii (general) thread is dead and this is more concern about VC and WiiWare, I'll post it here.

On page 6 of Nintendo Conference Fall 2008, Iwata said they're going to make it more convenience to store VC and WiiWare games on SD card. This what believe at first that you can now directly play VC and WiiWare games off a SD card. Well it doesn't look like it!

We will also make it so that you will need to go through just one process in order to transfer Virtual Console or WiiWare software stored on an SD card to the Wii console and then be able to play it. We would like to deal with this issue utilizing two methods. Since the updates to realize these new structures will require significant revisions to the Wii system, and these changes need to be made by taking care of a variety of different angles, this method will become effective beginning next spring. For some of you, this may be considered late. But please know that we really appreciate your cooperation and understanding. We are working hard so we can begin the service as soon as possible.

So basically it's a one-click swap of VC/WiiWare. Not more storage space, just making it less pain-in-the-ass to transfer VC/WiiWare games from SD to Wii and vice versa.

Oh, I laugh at this statement:

Oh silly you Mr. Iwata. :tpg:

Ozzie gets his wish:

WiiWare
World of Goo (2D Boy - 1,500 Wii Points)
Art Style: CUBELLO (Nintendo - 600 Wii Points)

Virtual Console
SECRET OF MANA (Super NES - 800 Wii Points)
STREET FIGHTER II': SPECIAL CHAMPION EDITION (Sega Genesis - 800 Wii Points)

Not a bad update at all, if you don't have SF2 on Live, or outright want SoM. When I hear goo, I think of a Boy and his Blob..

DarkMageOzzie Oct 13, 2008 07:51 AM

There goes me finishing Warriors Orochi 2 or Bladestorm anytime soon. I honestly never thought Secret of Mana would get released.

chato Oct 13, 2008 09:51 AM

Funny.. on wiki I see only Gradius 2 and Digital Champ Boxing coming today.. I guess i should stop believing in Wiki.

Stop Sign Oct 13, 2008 01:09 PM

Hell, yes, Secret of Mana. Instant download.

wvlfpvp Oct 13, 2008 02:45 PM

What? Secret of Mana? Holy god. THERE IS HOPE? FOR OTHER THINGS? (SD3 on hardware? T'would be awesome. Now if only I had a GBA flashcart so I could play Mother 3 untethered from a computer)

Chaotic Oct 13, 2008 03:14 PM

Oh my, Secret of Mana? Now I really need to decide whether or not I want a Wii Points card or not. :(

It's either that or an 360 Point card so I could get Megaman 9. :tpg:

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 13, 2008 03:43 PM

If you hurry, Wii Points cards are $12 at Toys R Us today. Yesterday too if you have a time machine! =D

I picked up World of Goo, and it's quite a bit of fun so far. Basically, you erect towers by connecting the gooballs and try to reach the pipe with enough goos remaining to meet the level goal. It's interesting compensating for gravity and building around obstacles like cogs that pop your goos. The $15 cost is a bit pricey, but apparently it was made mostly by 2 guys like Braid.

Fuck, If I only knew about that earlier. :(

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 13, 2008 05:05 PM

I picked up two yesterday, but I wish I'd grabbed three. I forgot about VC Secret Santa coming up, and I used up one card already for World of Goo and Fantasy Zone today. Thinking about getting Shining Force 2 too.

Chaotic Oct 13, 2008 05:07 PM

Until the next sale happens again...

And I can't wait for VC Secret Santa this year as well. I wanna see what someone will surprise me with this time. :3:

Streets of Rage was an awesome gift, but pity I never had anyone to play it with.

nuttyturnip Oct 13, 2008 05:40 PM

I doubt you'll find any cards anyway. I was at the TRU in Virginia Beach at opening yesterday and bought the last of them there, and from what folks are saying on CAG, the same thing happened most places. This was a case of TRU having a sale, but not ordering any extra stock to satisfy demand.

The Plane Is A Tiger Oct 13, 2008 05:46 PM

Yeah, they only had 7-8 cards at mine when I went at opening yesterday and I bought 2 of those. There weren't any signs up saying they were 40% off, but it would've only taken a few other people who knew about the sale to exhaust their supply.

Infernal Monkey Oct 14, 2008 06:32 AM

World of Goo sounds fantastic. I'm seriously considering this dodgy Homebrew thing I read about that changes the Wii Shop region to get it. Because they're planning on releasing the game as disc-only in PAL regions at like eight hundred times the price. >=(

Nobody likes eight hundred. Especially not seven hundred. Bitter rivals.

Lukage Oct 14, 2008 07:32 PM

Okay so I joke about Secret of Mana being one of two games I desperately want on Sunday. Now I get to clean my pants and play it. <3

Infernal Monkey Oct 16, 2008 09:51 PM

Amazing weeks for PAL regions.

Space Harrier (SMS)
Street Fighter 2: Fuck There's Already Like Fifty Billion Versions of This Game On The VC Already Edition (MD)
Mayhem in Monsterland (C64)

And by amazing I mean oh.

MIM does look pretty cool though.~
