HDMI 1.3 Upgrade Published...

Quote:

The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection standard has been updated with the finalized version of HDMI 1.3. Seven companies have backed this upgrade including Sony's PS3 console.

Kaiten Jun 24, 2006 10:02 AM

Well HDMI 1.3 sounds nice, too bad my monitor doesn't support it. But in all actuality there's almost no chance I'll be using HDMI any time soon. In fact if it wasnt for the WIFI and 60GB HDD, I'd have no probelm with the $500 model. Though a $400 or lower price tag for the crappier model would be much easier to swallow, which is probably why I'm going to hold off on the PS3 for a long while.
No chance in hell I'm paying $500-600 for a console when that could go to an infinitly more useful PC (or car repairs in my case :().

I have a question, I just hope that it wasn,t already answered:

will the ps2 game online will be compatible with the ps3 online? like i have some game that i can play online (burnout, MGS3) and don't have the network adaptor, so will I be able to play those game online with the ps3? ( I 'll probable take the 600$ version for the wi-fi)

I think it means Playstion-inifinity-Stupid (or 'spensive, but that's improper grammar), meaning it's too expensive to be viable in the current market. While I think it will trounce the XBox 360, I'm not so sure about it beating the Wii. Yes, $600 will help recover costs, but at what price (literal and figurative)?

Kilroy Jul 8, 2006 01:58 AM

It could just be a fancy ways of saying PS8, though I'm at a loss why Sony has patented that...

Technophile Jul 8, 2006 04:42 AM

Oh, hello Apple logo!

Wonder what that's all about...

Infernal Monkey Jul 8, 2006 06:48 AM

Where am I supposed to be looking for this delicious Apple logo? Woolworths? :(

No, that's a black PS3. I can see this is somehow confusing, though...

Sigh... look. I know the PS3 is freaking HUGE but just look carefully. Load the page again, and for a split second, the apple logo appears then quickly vanishes. It's smack in the middle of the PS3 logo and the controler. You try it too infernal, you'll see it.

K_ Takahashi Jul 8, 2006 03:11 PM

It's either some subliminal messaging OR just the apple program they used for that transition-thing.

Inhert Jul 8, 2006 03:58 PM

ok I must be blind because really I stare at this ps3 for like 5min and never saw that apple logo...maybe they change before I could see it >.>

Zip Jul 8, 2006 04:07 PM

nah it's there. refresh the page and look above the controller. It flashes and then never shows up again.

K_ Takahashi Jul 8, 2006 04:32 PM

dont know how dark your monitors are but....

Cetra Jul 8, 2006 04:54 PM

Someone already decompiled the flash file. Seems they used an iPod box to disperse the smoke when filming the effect. The PS3 picture didn't quite mask the bright white Apple logo on the iPod box and thus the Apple logo flashes though during a few frames of the animation.

It was just an oversight and you can't even see it with a properly configured monitor and color profile which whoever at Sony made this most likely has. If you can see that logo flash you need to reconfigure your monitor. :P

I just tweaked my gamma settings last week (since I'm too frugal to go for a calibrator) and can't see it at all. Same thing happened over on GamingAge. BTW, Cetra, what do you use to adjust your monitor settings/make color profiles? Something like QuickGamma or that in-built Adobe Photoshop option?

I actually use a various amount of on screen test patterns to adjust brightness, contrast and gamma to the correct levels. Then I use a physical color calibration chart (it's a piece of cardboard with colors on it) and adjust my color levels by hand as well.

I see the logo, I had to turn up the gamma to see it. It was only a mistake though...

Thanks in advanced!

Mobius One Jul 9, 2006 07:38 AM

If PS3 had OS X, I'd reserve one right this motherfucking instant. Too bad it was only a mistake...
