I honestly can't see how they would pull that off. Though technically all of Melee's arenas were pretty much 2D based so...I suppose they could do that if they wanted to be creative. I just cant imagine what that would look like or how that would play...

Well, Mr. Game and Watch worked. The problem would be that the pixel versions will most probably play a bit differently. But to me, that doesn't seem so bad, as long as they don't take up an extra character slot. |
Nah, pixel characters would suck. I mean, would they all be sprites from their respective games? Because they would vary greatly in size, some would have more frames of animation, and others would be faux-3D anyways. And some of the characters don't even have sprites, like Captain Falcon. Nintendo would have to make entirely new sprites that didn't even exist in the old games and bog down the gameplay considerably all because you're a stereotypical gamer and you want an "old-school" nostalgic feel that'll essentially ruin the game. You don't care, do you?
|
Hah, I was just saying that it'd be pretty funny. it would be like game & watch I know Captain Falcon didn't have an 8-bit sprite. And, I thought that this was just all about costumes, so it shouldn't even take long to draw a couple of animations for some 20x30 pixels. Just for kicks, that's all. It's a bad idea, I guess.
|
don't feel too bad about it hehe. I like the idea of "old school" costumes. not all of them would be old sprites.
|
from what i heard they are going to try and fit between 35-40 characters in brawl....I hope it's out before or by christmas
|
I would expect there to be about 37 characters, considering how Melee had thirteen more characters than the original, giving it a total of twenty-five. Hopefully, the increase will be the same.
|
For all we know they could pull a Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and give us 56... of course, a number like that would mean they were pretty eager to use up character slots, and as such they throw in useless/comic relief characters like Totakeke and Dr. Lobe.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the sole reason I am going to buy the Wii
*is looking through the screenshots now* I like these super attacks...awesome looking at least o.O *watches trailer* I have not enjoyed a trailer so much since Armored Core: Last Raven... |

Personally I'm still pulling for Vectorman (he appeared in a Sonic Collection game for Gamecube) and Little Mac. |
No new info at the conference.
...Damn you Nintendo. With MP3 delayed I have no reason to get a Wii in 2006. |
oh come on there's plenty of reasons to get one at launch. well, I think so, anyways. I'd hate to sound like a fanboy but I really want Warioware and WiiSports.

They should put in that Knight Kuros from W&W2:Ironsword along with a few stages that had kick ass music for an 8bit game. So maybe Acclaim might let it slide? (do they even exist? lol... ) |

Lucky for you WiiSports is packaged in the $250.... |
How does that relate to what I said?

long as he has his own move sets, it'll be fun. I'd love, LOVE to see ridley in some form, but I doubt that would be possible. Maybe as a non-playeable boss or something.
|
Ridley would indeed be awesome, although he would be much to big for a playable character. Maybe one of the later stages of Metroids from Metroid 2. Or a space pirate would be nice too. One of the ones from Zero Mission. Those guys were tough as shit...
But from Kirby, I would be set with Metaknight and Dedede. There really are not many other characters unless you watched the anime I suppose... But you know what Brawl really needs? A ninja of some sort. I mean, ya, there is Shiek, but Shiek is not really a ninja... |
Oh please, if Ridley was in the game, they'd just do what they did with Bowser; resize him to make him playable. That's all there is to it. And no, they're not making PLAIN ENEMIES into playable characters. Don't suggest stupid stuff like metroids, space pirates and goombas.
And Nintendo doesn't have any ninja characters. They're not going to make a brand new original character for an all-star game, that would ruin everything. Of course, Konami is contributing to the game with Snake, and they have the Goemon/Mystical Ninja series, which they seem to put exclusively on Nintendo consoles. So they could put those in. |
