Woo :)

John Travolta just came through the airport - I spoke with him for a little bit - invited him out to thanksgiving dinner with my family :) (He said that he might stop by if he's not busy, actually took the address though!)

He's a really nice guy - we talked about flying and stuff while the guy he was with was in the washroom.

I just met the band Hinder yesterday. Don't really like them, but it's cool to meet a famous band. They autographed a poster for me and I'll probably just sell it.

I bumped into Terry Waite at the railway station last year.

I once asked Sheryl Crow to marry me when I was at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas. She politely declined but she let me buy her a drink.

Now please guys... Spare me the "DUDE! At least she chose Lance Armstrong over YOU!" because no matter which way I look at it, I was turned down for the guy with only ONE BALL. :(

Uh, no... you got turned down for the guy who can kick everyone's ass every bloody time in a national cycling race after recovering from the verge of death. One of his balls is probably ten times bigger than both of yours. At least you tried though.

Met Filipino comic sensation/badass madapaka Rex Navarette yesterday:

I met Matt Bellamy and the other guys from Muse at ACL fest. And Matt said Happy Birthday to me (well, I did inform him of it, but still). Got their autographs too.

I'm pretty sure they're the only 'famous' people I've met, aside from "famous violists." Wooooo~ I'm sure everyone is familar with Donald McInnes and Robert Vernon, right? :annoyed:

I met Jason Kidd when I was younger. I was visiting my aunt in Portland, and he came in to buy a suit from the place she worked. He was pretty cool, gave me his autograph and everything.

I know Daniel Johns (Singer from Silverchair) and Natalie Imbruglia (Singer/Actor). Daniel's mother and my mother were best friends in highschool and still remain pretty good friends. We've had dinner/lunch with them a dozen or so times that I can remember and we once stayed with them for 2 weeks when we were on holiday. Although we haven't caught up in a about a year or so.

I have met Gwyne Dyer, Peter Mansbridge, Rob Corddry, and David Suzuki.

The first two are Canadian famous in Canada, while Corddry is known in the States, and Suzuki around the world.

How was Corddry? I think he is very funny, so I am curious.

Very friendly and personable guy. He really enjoys joking around, although one on one he can be a little overboard.

The show he did at the University of Manitoba was good as well. Must have been about 2 000+ who came to see him.

Cobra Commander Oct 12, 2006 04:51 AM

I dunno if this counts but my dad had the main baddie from Ghostbusters 2 come into his eyeglass shop! I got autographs of the guy now!

Dan Walker Oct 12, 2006 05:36 AM

Between me and my girlfriend we've seen Johnny Depp, Hermione from Harry Potter, Robbie Williams, Princess Diana, oh I can't remember all of them. See, her mother was a PA and took her to all these fancy dinners with fancy people. It's so not fair :)

niki Oct 12, 2006 05:48 AM

I shaked hands with Stallone at Deauville once. Also saw Mike Myers and John Woo that year. Various French ones probably none of you ever heard about too, except maybe the ex-president Mitterand that I met while visiting a church when I was a kid. Not like I like the guy's politics, but I remember being totally impressed. =p

Your girlfriend's mom was a production assistant? The PA's are low on the totem poll and rarely get invited to do cool shit with the actors. Or did you mean that she's a PR rep?

Dan Walker Oct 12, 2006 01:56 PM

God knows what PA means, but she was it for more than two decades and knew everyone. Lived in Chelsea. I'm not actually sure what she did, but she was very up in herself. She was one of those women who wore matching suits every day, and was married to the director of some big company. I don't know what she did, but I think she was a personal assistant of a broadcast company's something something. She never really told my girlfriend all that much, she just took her to dinners and premieres and openings.

Hermione sat behind her when she saw Mamma Mia. Quite a shock that must've been :)

Edit: Emma Watson?

Edit again: You've got me all stumped here, I'm going to have to ask her again

And no. I can't quit. Quitting is for quitters.

Dan Walker Oct 12, 2006 06:05 PM

Hehe, so many talk about drinking, I wish I enjoyed alcohol sometimes.

Jessykins Oct 12, 2006 06:22 PM

I've met all of the band members of Orgy (Ran into them at a record store before I was seeing them in concert later in the day).

I once worked with and met Shirley Maclaine and Rita Moreno.

Met Crispin Glover: http://www.ravenillusion.com/Leaveit...nautograph.jpg

Also met Jon Crosby from VAST before a show he did here as well. Pretty sweet stuff.

Oh, I forgot I met Bruce Campbell too! He's fucking cool as hell.

Locke Oct 14, 2006 02:47 PM

So I've now met John Travolta three times! The latest time he was stuck in the aiport because the chopper he was flying out in broke down (one of the engines wouldn't start due to a stuck throttle) - so we talked and joked around about me stealing one of my school's airplanes to fly him to hamilton - until they finally found another way to get to hamilton (about 45 minutes). He's a really nice guy, and even remembered me from when he was through here the two times before! (And told me to say hi to my girlfriend for him, remembering that every time I saw him previously, I told him she said hi to him :))

My Dreams Oct 21, 2006 08:54 AM

I've met Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong but that was during a walk-about so yea...

I met Juwan Howard at a store opening years ago. I really didn't want to meet him, but it was something else entirely (not his fault). He's a pretty nice guy. I got a picture taken with him as well as his autograph.

I've met a bunch of Olympians back in '93. My autograph book is covered with their names so I can't remember them all.

nororu Oct 26, 2006 12:33 PM
