The game really doesn't look as impressive anymore compared to the original teaser trailer.
Now THAT was hella stylish. I hope that this new look is completely smoothed out and the framerate improved.

With the whole 'more violent than Manhunt 2' thing, I don't think it'd be THAT violent, I mean....a standard animation of either slicing people in half or chopping their heads off, that'd become boring after a while.
Hopefully there's still some graphic violence elements that will surpass everything we've expected from this. Something to definitely look forward to, I guess.

mrEkli Mar 11, 2007 02:04 AM

That's still violence. I think it's because we're very much so desensitized by all this stuff.

This game looks great. But I have no idea how it'll play. This is gonna be awesome!

Tuigi Mar 14, 2007 10:25 AM

they seem to have changed the original Zelda-style slashing mechanic to a simple press of the A button, which is kind of sad but i guess if they had that changed it's because it plays better that way.
and for the whole violence thing i dont see how having a game that is ultra violent adds anything to it, I mean slicing the head of a guy to kill him him OR slicing his testicules off whit the A button then feeding it to him until he vomits his organs is pretty much the same thing gameplay wise.

Bumpsome!

A few new points of interest:

- The game's save function. It's a toilet.

- Suda's paying a little homage to Grindhouse.
Quote:

I wanted to show this character as quickly as possible since it looks almost like a character from the double-feature movie Grindhouse. But in the movie, it's a machine gun, while Holly has a missile, so she has more firepower!

- New in-game screensizzles!

Delightfully stylised HUD!

I understand the cell-shading concept, but is that really an excuse for Dreamcast-level background textures?

Krelian Jun 26, 2007 07:07 AM

hey guys the wii has SHIT graphics  have you heard yet?

No More Heroes confirmed for stateside release.

C'mon, February!

Infernal Monkey Sep 20, 2007 08:48 PM

So Rising Star was confirmed as the PAL publisher months ago, and now Ubisoft's picked up the American release. The last game to match this set of publishers.. was.. WAS

WAS

So No More Heroes will be as good as Lunar DS CONFIRMED.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Sep 20, 2007 09:01 PM

Rating pending forever. :tpg:

Elixir Sep 21, 2007 10:19 PM

The bad voice acting is intentional, right? It seems like something they would do.

In any case, I like how this looks. It's like someone mixed God Hand with Killer7.

Infernal Monkey Sep 21, 2007 10:31 PM

I really liked the old over the top bad voice acting. Now I can't tell if they're trying or not. =')

Oh that is WEIRD, I was linked to this video about an hour ago. MOE~~

Also, he says "fuckhead". Swearing is bad, Nintendo. :(

Amayirot Akago Sep 22, 2007 03:13 AM

Goddammit, they took out the excessive bloodspurts. Oh well, game is still gonna rock from the looks of that trailer.

Infernal Monkey Sep 23, 2007 03:34 AM

Nah, the fountains of blood will still be there. Just.. not for Japan.

Quote:

Suda's on record as saying No More Heroes was going to be violent. Like, Manhunt 2 violent. Yet playing it I noticed there was no blood. Not a drop. Enemies instead disappeared in a puff of black smoke and...coins. So I asked what's up, does he still want to make it ultra-violent?

"Oh yes. The version you played is the Japanese version, which won't be featuring much blood", he said. Understandable, because Japanese censors don't take much shit. "Besides", he kids, "he's using a lightsaber, which burns the wound when you cut someone".

Western sadists shouldn't be too concerned: he says gushing fountains of crimson are expected to feature in the American and European releases, both which are due in February 2008.

Amayirot Akago Sep 23, 2007 03:44 AM

Ah, thought it was something like that, since they censored the Japanese version of Resident Evil 4 as well.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Sep 23, 2007 12:12 PM

For some reason, I can't see this game being average. It's either going to be immense amounts of awesome or absolutely terrible.

I'm excited to see what the verdict is and, if it's good, buy it.

Kimchi Sep 23, 2007 03:38 PM

I agree, its 50/50 ._. phail or suceed.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Nov 28, 2007 12:54 PM

It's about time to bump this, as the game's about to come out in Japan and Famitsu scored it recently.

Not too shabby, either!

The official website has some new videos that show off combat a bit more extensively (check out "Travis Action").

"I'll kick you in the nuts!"

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Dec 3, 2007 02:33 PM

Fine, okay, you guys didn't like that update. How about this one!

US Trailers!

Featuring Darkside Travis, evasive rolls, Death Metal, Dr. Peace, and a lot of decapitations!

This game comes out very soon in Japan. As in, for us in North America, the middle of the day tomorrow.

Kimchi Dec 3, 2007 04:39 PM

*GASP* Coming out tommorow? :gonk: I don't even know they had pre-order ~__~ but than, since there aren't many Wii's where I live <3 I still have chance of getting it.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Dec 3, 2007 06:16 PM

No, that's when it comes out in Japan. Unless you're in Japan, in which case yes, it will be tomorrow.

I was saying Japanese stores open for the day during the afternoon in the US. The North American release is sometime in February.

trackjacket Dec 3, 2007 06:53 PM

IGN has their review copy of the game and will be continuously updating throughout the week with new No More Heroes media.

Monday IGN update -

Preview: IGN: No More Heroes Preview

Three new videos: IGN: No More Heroes Trailer, Videos and Movies

Kimchi Dec 4, 2007 07:03 PM

Is this delayed or something?

trackjacket Dec 4, 2007 07:25 PM

Comes out on Thursday in Japan. February in the US.

Kimchi Dec 4, 2007 07:34 PM

Boo! I thought U.S was going to get the first dip?
