Yeah, four more weeks until the fillers come to a close.

Some of the fillers, however are pretty good. Mostly the episodes that deal with Kiba, and Hinata. Why? I don't know, I just find their missions appealing.

Cirno Mar 11, 2006 06:41 PM

It's a pity that the manga hasn't really focused on any of the other Rookie 9. I found the majority of them way more interesting than the main characters. The fillers should've just focused on those teams doing missions, as opposed to whoring Naruto to every other team.

Neogin Mar 11, 2006 07:19 PM

I guess that would contradict the name of the anime, huh?

Anyway, seriously? No mentioning of the other rookies? That's a shame. Well, at least they included the rookies in the fillers, so there's a plus.

chato Mar 11, 2006 08:02 PM

i really want Hyuuga Neji and Sasuke to fight. this whole Sasuke,Sakura, Naruto thing might become a love triangle >.<

i dont think so, in the earlier parts, the anime focused more on sasuke, i thought it should be called sasuke instead of naruto.
anyway, i thought the same, more mission for the other teams.

The end of fillers should be in about two or three weeks, at which point the anime will follow the manga again.

Luckily for me, my DVD collection of Naruto DivX episodes cuts off at episode 144, only a few episodes into the filler swamp.
The manga should (hopefully) provide some better material for the anime to use.

quest2368 Mar 12, 2006 03:25 PM

I'm gonna have to check out the manga. I've never read a single episode.

I started the anime when they were at like episode 10, but had no idea the manga was that far ahead. I loved the fight scenes and some of the downright badass clever things. I still don't read the manga because I'd like to see what happens in the animated version.

Imkylepiano=) Mar 12, 2006 05:55 PM

Did anyone like 175? I know it was a filler, but, hinataxnarutoxkiba is a good team up!

Cirno Mar 12, 2006 09:35 PM

175 has Hinata again? They're really pushing her forward (which is good, since she :megaman: hard). It's a pity that

Spoiler:
She's really been pushed off to the side so far in the manga, and it appears that Sakura may have a crush on Naruto.

Some things in the anime are better presented than they were in the manga, while some animated fights are definitely lacking in the cool area (Neji v. Kidoumaru is a good example, as the finishing blow was very nicely done in the manga).

Of course they're pushing Sakura and Naruto! The people at Naruto Forums have been bitching about it way too much to ignore.

I just can't see Sakura with Naruto at all. She needs to get back on Sasuke's jock. HinataxNaruto ftw.

Actually I do agree, something unexpected has to happen to keep me reading the manga. It's like Kishimoto is running dry on ideas (or saving up for a big plot twist).

Cirno Mar 12, 2006 10:21 PM

Well, what he did with Kakashi really turned me off. That was the last thing I wanted to see him do.

Spoiler:
The advanced Sharingan, magenkyo (sp). It's not exactly like Itachi's, but it was so hard to swallow that I just couldn't accept it.

I'm just waiting for the other characters to shine. After all of this build-up with their development pre-timeskip, they seem to have all gone to waste. I understand Kishimoto's developing (or attempting to develop) the plot for Part 2, and that's why he's focusing on Team 7. It's just that we've seen at least two long arcs in Part 2 with very little from the others.

Spoiler:
Shikamaru and Chouji had some nice screentime, at least.

EDIT:
Also, for those watching the Naruto dub on Cartoon Network, it's taking a month long break to make room for Miyazaki's films that are being aired. I'm really only interested in how Orochimaru's going to sound, since the preview they aired yesterday showed him fighting Anko in the Forest of Death.

Imkylepiano=) Mar 13, 2006 01:43 AM

Oh man Emmanual Lewis, I want to hear oro too! LOL, this is going to be FUNNY. Dub should die -_-.

Spoiler:
I think narutoxhinata is so much better then sakuraxnaruto, but, I'm not complaining as long as he gets one of the other. I never really liked sakura too much though, always beating on him etc, but hinata respects naruto! Besides sakura ovbiously wants sasukes dick.

and we also have ino that wants the uchiha-cawk XD

as for the dub. i really think orochimaru's voice will be david lucas..it just sounds right. and im sure david lucas can do a million voices in one anime. he's done it once.

Cirno Mar 13, 2006 12:13 PM

The dubs aren't as bad as people make them out to be. They're fairly well done, with the exception of a few really grating voices (Naruto's, for example, but it's slowly getting better). Gai's voice actually destroys the original Japanese VA's.

No. Japanese Gai's voice is way better. He overdoes it sometimes, but that's why it fits the character. So far, the dub voice didn't impress me.

ALL the Japanese voices.

But the single-largest annoyance is Naruto in English always yelling "Believe it!" The only voice actor in English that I really like no matter what character he played (although I wanted him for Kakashi) was Steve Blum. He was unfortunately squeezed into just a few episodes
Spoiler:
and a few flashbacks with Orichimaru
.

chato Mar 13, 2006 02:30 PM

i still await brian drummond's voice as itachi u.u

Neogin Mar 13, 2006 03:43 PM

Personally, the dub isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either. I was still upset that Viz got a hold of it..

Kaphwan 86 Mar 13, 2006 04:02 PM

I don't think it's that bad either. I never expected getting used to Naruto's voice, but I eventually did. There are still plenty of voices that could be better and I think that it will improve, no doubt.

I still think Kakashi's voice is miscast, though. =| He doesn't sound so laid back and covered with a mask over his mouth like the original. Kakashi also has his silly moments and so far, dub Kakashi didn't really have the voice for it. That's the only real complaint I have.

Neogin Mar 13, 2006 05:24 PM

Personally, I loved Zabuza's and the Hokage's voice. It suits them quite well. Sasuke isn't half bad, either.

Summonmaster Mar 13, 2006 10:43 PM

Out of all the anime filler so far was there anything more revealed than
Spoiler:
1) Hinata's version of the Chakra Whirl, 2) Part of Anko's past?

The fake Rock and Gai really annoyed me, making me feel that I really wasted 30 minutes of my life moreso watching that particular episode. The Noroimusha thing bothered me a lot too, knowing that the odds of Naruto and group ever returning to these village is slim to none.
There's no lasting connection in helping everyone in these villages overcome their feelings, since we never really see them after the group leaves, in each case.

It's funny how the most highly antcipated Anime dubs are usually the most screwed up. Of course Cowboy Bebop was a notable exception.
The main problem I have is the main characters voices exaggerate their personality too much, be more subtle, like their Japanese counterparts.
